Shady has once again displayed his trademark "democracy," "open-mindedness," and "broad horizons" by shutting down the "Orthodox world" thread under the flimsy excuse that it was just some "blogger topic." In reality, that thread was the most insightful place on this site, providing the most expert answers and maintaining the highest level of civilized discussion.
We are demanding that this thread be unblocked immediately, because closing it was both illegal and completely baseless. If not, then we want specific examples showing exactly where this topic strayed from forum rules and turned into a "blog," as he so falsely claims.

We have to wonder if this is just another sneaky attempt—maybe in the spirit of Ramadan?—to kill off a high-quality discussion because it doesn't sit right with this self-proclaimed "European" who holds Muslim worldviews. The thread had reached three or four pages without a single controversial moment being flagged. That’s when Shady suddenly appeared, likely "inspired" by the Archangel Gabriel (and believe me, the irony isn't lost on us, given how this man's behavior actually undermines his own faith), claiming the whole thing was "blog-like." This wasn't an accident! This guest moderator intentionally let the topic grow and develop for several pages without saying a word, just so he could "collect" enough ammunition to declare it a violation. Instead of acting like a real moderator and stepping in early with corrections to keep things on track, he sat back and waited. He did this on purpose, and it's not his first time... We are calling on the consciences of the other moderators on this subforum. Please, save the reputation of this space where we all come together to learn about different faiths and broaden our perspectives.

Shady, stop dragging your faith, your honor, and your integrity through the mud. Don't ruin this forum with your twisted standards; nobody paid you to come here and act out!

Gentlemen, moderators, please, restore some dignity to this subforum.

Sam Taylor4, on my own behalf and on behalf of the following members:
The besraman ones,
Solomon Kan,
Kotoridis Omous,
NVP,
bartender Jitrro;
as well as on behalf of every truth-seeking and God-fearing soul. Amen!

Sam Taylor4, I am standing with you, and honestly, I’m speaking on behalf of several other members here:
The besraman,
Solomon Kan,
Kotoridis Omous,
and even bartender Jitrro;
truly, I speak for every soul here who values the truth and lives with a deep reverence for God. Amen!

You can certainly count me in as well ☕. Of course, discussions like these usually get shut down, yet topics such as "Christian obsession Roman Empire" remain just as relevant today as ever.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. The whole "process"—the actual method they use to suppress anything they deem inappropriate—is what I laid out in my first post. It's incredibly cunning and pretty damn underhanded...

They will probably try to justify closing the "Orthodox faith" thread by pointing out that there's already a massive "Christianity 1000 questions 1000 answers" discussion up there, but in my view, that isn't a valid excuse. That original topic was fascinating and had its own specific focus, whereas other threads feel completely disconnected from reality. Take, for instance, a topic like: "The Catholic Church has opened its doors to Muslims for Friday prayers," which poses the following question in the intro:

"On the Teki thread, we haven't discussed converting churches into mosques or the trend of selling churches to meet the needs of mosques very much. What do you all think—will any church in America ever do something similar as a symbol of rapprochement and acceptance? Is that even possible here?"

It is one thing to pose a question like that regarding a country like France, Germany, or England, but to ask it about a nation like the United States, where the Muslim population is such a small fraction of the total? How is a question like that even remotely relevant?

If this had been framed as a discussion about France, Germany, or England, I might understand, but for the US... ☕

Regarding the "Christianity 1000 Questions, 1000 Answers" thread, we should really stick to questions that all Christian denominations actually agree on. The reason that other topic was shut down is because it focused on one specific branch with its own set of quirks... and let me tell you, we've had plenty of similar discussions about other denominations before that haven't been locked up yet!

Honestly, there’s really no need to escalate things here. This is a perfectly valid topic, and I don't see any reason why it should be locked. Even though we have the Krscanstvo I000x thread, I don't think there's any reason why specific Christian denominations shouldn't have their own dedicated space. Personally, I'm not super well-versed in the Orthodox faith, so this subject actually interests me quite a bit... it’s kind of like saying you don't need a specialized steakhouse or a local BBQ joint just because there's already an Islam I000x place available somewhere else.🤷

And hey, I actually like Shady, and I'm confident he'll get this sorted out and open up the thread properly.🙂

Sam Taylor4 said:When we talk about a topic like "Christianity: 1000 Questions, 1000 Answers," we could easily stick to the core principles shared by every single denomination. But the thread that got locked here was specifically focused on one particular branch of Christianity with its own unique quirks. We've had similar deep dives into other denominations before, and those haven't been shut down!

I’m right there with you. I’m only two posts behind you, and I just finished reading what you wrote.😁

Could we please move this discussion over to a PDF? For goodness' sake, let's try to make this a little less about personal feelings and more about the actual issue of why things are being shut down. It feels like this thread has become way too much of a religious blog post. This forum isn't meant to be a personal blog where people just list saints and holidays. We're here for conversation, not one-sided monologues. Personally, I think we should reopen the topic, but only after we've cleaned up the clutter first.

Look, Kim, I think you're being a bit too harsh here, because from what I've seen,
Eminem doesn't actually have a personal vendetta against you or anyone else you've mentioned,
he just has an issue with the content itself and whether it fits the vibe of this subforum.

If people are interested, why not just start a new thread about justice or whatever?

P.S.
There's really no point in picking fights with the moderators,
you're just setting yourself up for failure. 😉

The whole point of this thing is that he started this thread ages ago, and you had like five or six people actually keeping the conversation going and staying on track, wouldn't you agree?

I mean, he’s actually got a point there, isn't he? There's no way you can call a thread where only five or six people are constantly jumping in an actual blog, though he definitely went a bit overboard by dragging religion into the whole mess.

Maybe take a quick second to look up what "monologue" actually means?
Having five or six people chiming in doesn't suddenly turn it into a group chat, right?

Plus, if you're hanging out in the religion sub-forum, talking about saints and holidays is pretty much the whole point, don't you think?

It’s basically doomed from the start! 😉

Rebecca Turner28 said:Maybe take a quick look up what "monologue" actually means.
Having five or six people jumping into a thread doesn't make it a monologue.

monologue (noun) - 1. Literary, theatrical, or film term: a long dramatic speech by a single character, spoken either to themselves or the audience; a soliloquy.
2. Colloquial, derogatory: a lengthy speech or a boring lecture. ✧ mono- + -log

So, don't worry, I definitely know what a monologue is. To me, it’s when people just drop posts without any actual back-and-forth conversation happening.

Rebecca Turner28 said:Second off, if you're on a religion sub, talking about saints and holidays is pretty much on-topic by default.

If we're having a dialogue about them, sure, but not when it turns into a sermon about lives of saints and an Orthodox calendar. This feels more like a website for the CIA. You might want to learn the difference between a blog and a forum. Personally, I have nothing against the subject since I've posted there myself before.

So don't even worry about it, I definitely know what a monologue is, which is basically just when people drop posts without any actual back-and-forth conversation happening, right?

I mean, if we're talking about them in a dialogue, sure, but this isn't some sermon about the lives of saints or a religious calendar. This site feels more like a landing page for the CIA. Maybe you should learn the difference between a blog and an online forum? Personally, I don't mind the topic at all since I used to post there myself.

And look at definition number two—it literally means a long speech, and a speech is just one person talking, isn't it?

For me, personally, the topic was just totally uninteresting, so I didn't really jump in or anything.

But honestly, using "boring" as a metric is super subjective, so you can't really use that as a rule for moderating, can you?
If there are five people who actually care about a topic, and everything being posted stays on track—even if it's boring to me, or to you, or to anyone else—you can't just shut it down, because clearly, it's not boring to the people actually participating.

I honestly don't see any objective reason to shut this thread down. I truly don't understand the logic behind closing it. 😕

Eminem, when you provide an explanation like this:

The topic, based on how it was opened and how the discussion is progressing, is essentially just a blog post, so we're going to close it.
If anyone is looking for information regarding Christianity, please refer to this thread: Christianity - 1000 Whys and 1000 Wherefores.
If you have specific questions about Eastern Orthodoxy, you can find up-to-date information at http://www.svetosavlje.org/
Best regards to everyone.

That feels incredibly rude and dismissive on your part, though I fear it's the truth. It would be like telling someone, "If you want to learn more about Islam, just go visit www.islam.org or some other website." 😕 You’ve really overstepped here. The very last page of this thread features seven different users in addition to yourself—and you're calling this a "blog"?? 😕 How many similar threads have been left open without issue? Why should this one be singled out for closure?? 😕

So, there is no need for concern. I understand what a monologue is. It occurs when posts are simply dropped without any conversational element.

I have just finished reviewing your comments along with those of others. I noticed your initial grievance was this: "This should be a place for conversation, not monologues."

Essentially, your first point—though you misstated it—was that there was no "conversation" taking place. Then, once Eric Cruz7 proved you wrong, you pivoted, claiming you used the word "monologue" to imply "tediousness." However, as I just pointed out, that wasn't actually what you were saying.

Keep going, Rade. You have my support.

Eminem, when you provide an explanation like this:

It is quite uncivilized and inconsiderate on your part, though I mean it sincerely. It would be akin to someone suggesting: If one wishes to learn more about Islam, they should simply visit www.islam.org or similar sites. 😕 You have truly overstepped here. The final page of this discussion includes seven different users in addition to yourself—and yet you claim this is merely a blog post?? 😕 Given how many similar threads remain open, why would anyone close this specific one?? 😕

Truly low. Attempting to disqualify arguments based on national identity (as if, for instance, certain religious traditions are synonymous with nationality—suggesting that interest in one implies interest in the other).

On the thread in question, for my part, I saw almost nothing regarding those specific nationalist ideologies. Low, indeed, and quite rude.

It appears I shall have to post here more frequently now.

Regards, Nick, my old friend. 😉

Noah King2 said:So, your initial point was—as you incorrectly claimed—that there wasn't any "dialogue" happening. Then, once Musk proved you wrong, you pivoted and started insisting you only used the word "monologue" to mean "boring."

I totally misunderstood, then she suggested I didn't even know what a monologue actually was, so I ended up giving her an explanation straight from the dictionary. Look, a monologue is a much broader concept than just being boring. And as for the topic being dull? I didn't personally say that; that was just how Musk interpreted it. Honestly, I think the subject is pretty interesting, it's just that those blog posts over there don't really have a place to live... kind of like those old sermons people used to post on that one closed thread on a different forum back in the day.
