I can't believe they actually pulled the plug on Ask and Memnu 😢 As if losing Bihter wasn't enough, now they're taking this away from us too... what about Alaş and Marijo? 😢
.Either NBC or HGTV will probably end up rerunning the series;

Are you being serious right now? You've gotta be kidding me!

I haven't actually posted anything about Ask and Memnu in this thread, but I’ve spent weeks quietly reading what the women (and some of the guys) have to say, weighing their takes against my own. Honestly, shutting down a discussion like this is just pathetic. 😢

lonemoose6 said:Wait, didn't Arthur Mendoza5 try to cut a deal with Ben Marshall?
I mean, Ben was being loud and clear last night—so why the hell is ambermason16 back at it again, trying to play both sides and lock things down? 🙄

Do you honestly remember that we were all fully aware last night that this thread had already blown past 10,000 comments? We really felt like we needed to touch base with Ben first—since he was always in the loop and would tune into the series every now and then anyway—to coordinate before actually launching a sequel. I mean, who could have possibly predicted things would turn out this chaotic?🤷

I’ll tell you, this is actually pretty standard practice on the other subforums around here. Just the other day over in Politics, they had to shut down a thread about the protests because it hit that 10,000-post mark. The moderator was actually quite helpful about it; he explained exactly why it happened, opened up a follow-up thread to keep things moving, and provided a direct link back to the original discussion so everyone could find their way back. It was all very straightforward.🤷

The reality is that saying a series has wrapped up isn't really a valid argument on its own, especially since we regularly have discussions about shows that have already reached their series finales. Similarly, claiming it lacked viewership doesn't carry much weight either. Ask and Memnu This thread has been absolutely dominating the top of the charts lately, racking up an incredible 300,000 views and over 11,000 individual posts in just two months. 😁🤷 It felt like the whole thing was just a barrage of insults and reports. I mean, wasn't there that one troll lurking around last night too, clearly just showing up to throw shade and mock everyone? Now, because of those specific topics, the thread is locked, and we aren't even allowed to start a follow-up discussion? 🙄🤣🤣

To me, it feels exactly like that situation where Behul convinced Nihal that Bashir’s findings were actually on the disc, just so he could swoop in and take them for himself. I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. Could you please clarify what you meant? It honestly feels like she’s just doing it by instinct at this point, almost as if everything happens purely by hand.😂

probably because she has nothing better to do with her life.
She just loves acting like she's smarter than everyone else when there isn't much reason to believe she is. ☕ Honestly, I couldn't care less.

I honestly think it’s high time we opened up a Volume 2 thread for this series. In my view, the decision to shut down the entire discussion is completely unjustified—sure, maybe it makes sense for a few specific people, but it’s just not fair to the majority of us who have been engaging in such lively debates.

So, please, just open up a new space for us to talk, because isn't that literally what a forum is supposed to be for?

ambermason16, look, it would be great if you could just admit you made a mistake here. We all mess up sometimes, but right now, this just feels like you're being arbitrary—and you really don't need that reputation, especially since you've been so solid up until now.

I’ve never really believed that locking a thread is the answer... It feels more like punishing the whole group when, in reality, it’s usually just a few specific people causing the friction. In my view, those individuals should be the ones dealt with—using the actual tools available here, like bans or warnings, you know? But I’ve noticed this pattern on forums quite often—closing down threads that get messy or start attracting insults. And honestly, I think this particular thread was leaning a bit in that direction.

Regarding the subject matter and the insults... it’s not like they weren't happening.
I can say that I’ve personally been on the receiving end of some insults myself—both in the soap opera threads and the ones with spoilers and without. Just because I voiced a different opinion, I was labeled an "emotional invalid," for instance. 😕 I haven't actually reported anyone yet... if I’m being honest, I don't think I've ever reported a single user or moderator on any forum I've been on. 🤷 But I am starting to think about doing it for the first time.

I also noticed a handful of people—I won't name names since I didn't even catch them all—who weren't exactly friendly toward anyone expressing an opinion that differed from their own or from the majority consensus. There was also that whole thing where they call people "bandwagoners" just because they started commenting during the final episodes, creating this vibe that they aren't welcome here.
I mean, is there actually a rule on this forum that forbids someone from commenting on a series just because they didn't participate earlier and the show is nearing its end? 😕

As for the confusion over opening a new thread, the girl joined the forum wanting to discuss the show, saw the existing thread was closed, so she started a new one to share her thoughts (back when that wasn't against the rules).
Even though her post wasn't a formal intro with all the cast photos, series data, and links, it was a fairly long post with well-reasoned impressions. You could tell she put a lot of time and effort into writing it, and frankly, I think some of the comments directed at her were way too harsh.
Again, the "bandwagoner" labels, the claims that she didn't "deserve" to start a thread because she had zero previous posts, the comments about how she dared to mention a certain character in her very first post... I think the frustration regarding how the new thread was opened could have been expressed much more mildly and politely.

Yeah, Ben actually showed up last night (I didn't see until this morning) and locked the thread. He clearly stated someone should just start a new one (Vol. 2) and leave it at that.
But then ambermason16 went and merged both threads and locked everything down. 🙄🙄
Totally for no reason, seriously.

Hey there... if you're referring to my earlier post where I mentioned that troll, honestly, the guy really flew in last night with this whole argument about how we shouldn't be numbing our brains with these shows while significant events are unfolding in Japan, and he posted a few more things right after, but I didn't even bother reading them because it was painfully obvious he was just being a troll and that's exactly what I was thinking 😉

but now it turns out that having someone like that reported is actually becoming an issue itself.🤣

I suggested moving her post over and having a mod write the intro instead (or maybe @lolitin could just set it as the first post), just so everything looks cleaner and more organized.
Anyway, I did say she put in the work—it just looked a little messy as a standalone opening post at first glance, if you know what I mean.

I feel bad for moderator Bashir, but honestly, that Ask and Memnu thread was such a great conversation for all of us!
I mean, using those moderator "lock" privileges feels like a total abuse of power, and trying to justify it by claiming people were "silly backtracking" on old posts—like those about Ezel—is just such a weak excuse, I guess.
Any discussion on any forum can turn "hot" for a million different reasons, and frankly, that should be welcomed,
rather than creating this depressing void or a culture of fear that just shuts down actual conversation.
A forum isn't just made up of moderators who make up random rules and overstep their bounds; it’s built by the users too.
The Ask and Memnu thread had so many people involved, including the silent types who might have finally felt ready to chime in, but you didn't even give them a chance, especially since you basically called most of us worthless anyway...

You’ve gone and consulted with the devil himself😁 you consulted with Demil.

Wait... why don't we just start our own thread properly and have a discussion?
It's not like we need them.
Just open a new thread and call it a day.
There are so many stupid threads out there that the mods don't do a single damn thing to close them, so I don't see why anyone would bother messing with ours.
Open a new thread, Ask and Memnu Vol 2, Sarah Wilson95.
Let's see what happens. 😁

Since even the super-mod has weighed in, I’d really appreciate it if we could just lock this thread—unless, of course, the admins or other mods have something else to throw into the ring. We need to shut this down because the debate that got killed in the original thread is already starting to migrate over here.

Hey moderators... if everyone is this hyped about a new orient passion thread, why aren't we getting one!?!?

The whole point of this forum is to talk about stuff we actually care about!

It might sound crazy, but a lot of us are feeling a bit lost right now. Our series just wrapped up yesterday and we need each other to decompress 😍 (I know it sounds weird, but just logging on here to read everyone's takes makes me feel better 😍 even though I'm still nine episodes behind and haven't commented yet).

It’s just not fair to leave most of us hanging just because of a few people, PLEASE!

Yeah, I know who he is, but he wasn't my target—it wasn't his behavior specifically that bothered me.

It’s more that there have been several instances lately where people have been labeled as "parachute jumpers." Even I’ve dealt with comments about how I’m "jumping in late to stir the pot" or whatever the phrase is—basically, people nitpicking because I joined the conversation toward the end.

Again, I think that's really just down to certain individuals, not a problem with the topic or the soap operas themselves.

Honestly, I’ve gotta say—this whole stunt by ambermason16 is just straight-up rude and unprofessional... which, if we're being real, totally reminds me of how trashy some of our big networks like FOX or ABC can get sometimes. Instead of this whole policy to suppress protest topics, the actual fix should be punishing people—banning them or whatever else they deserve for their posts.

It shouldn't be this freaking hard to just own up to a mistake and say you're sorry, ambermason16 😉

PS. ambermason16, are you seriously the only one calling the shots here? Like, do the other moderators even get a say, or do they just have zero vote in all of this?

ambermason16 said:It’s a sad, sad story... and honestly, I totally get where you're coming from. The thread stays open regardless. 😁

Usually, when a show wraps up but the thread stays live, it’s because the series was a massive hit and the community, for lack of a better term, earned the right to keep the conversation going. This particular topic doesn't meet either of those criteria.

And look, we aren't going to sit here and tolerate another thousand pages of people insulting, trolling, whining, reporting posts, or picking fights with Ezel and whoever else in a thread dedicated to a show that's already over.

I believe I've made my point quite clearly. Was it "megapopular"? Please. This thread had more pages and replies than *Ask and Memnu*, which would have been even more ridiculous if that show had lasted any longer.
"Earned"? What exactly is there to earn, and by whose standards? Yours, perhaps? Usually, moderators consult one another before abruptly shutting down a series thread—much like what happened with the CCEA situation—but this feels like a sudden, unilateral decision made solely by you. And now we arrive at the crux of the matter... It is evident that Ezel has left a bitter taste in certain mouths. 🙄 What has occurred here is utterly insolent and beneath the dignity of a moderator. That report icon exists for a reason: to flag problematic content. If it weren't there, I might find this remark acceptable, but it is perfectly standard to protest irregularities. If such protests bother the moderation team, then frankly, I think they should step down, given they were explicitly told what their duties entail at the start.
No one was insulting the women, nor was anyone causing "chaos." Especially not in thread number two. And claiming that fifty posts are being reported daily is, quite frankly, laughable. 👎
