Fine, I got the green light, but if it’s not happening by 5:50, I'm out. Got places to be.

Hey, could you shoot me a DM with the details? I'd love to figure out when and where we can meet up about that wardrobe... let's get this sorted out ASAP.

We finally scored the oval corner shower, the toilet, the tank, the sink, and all the tiles

Now we’re just missing the actual shower stall... and honestly, seeing how much those oval ones go for, we're gonna be saving up for a minute

still need a shower door... and since those fancy curved ones are pricey, we’re gonna be saving up for a minute

Don't be such a gatekeeper with the info, seriously. People planning to come help actually want to know what they're walking into. From what I can tell, someone's gotta knock out a massive window in the bathroom, which isn't rocket science, but you really need to get all that sorted before you even think about calling the tile guy. Once the hole is made, you'll need to set some smaller studs and prep everything before the tiling starts. And just so we're clear, you're definitely gonna need some drywall mud too (correct me if you've already handled that)
Plus, there's a doorway that needs to be framed out and closed up. Maybe level the floor, patch the hole where the old tub was—all that good stuff. When you say "we need a toilet and a sink," people hear that and think the job is basically done. They'll show up ready to install, but they won't realize how far from finished this actually is.
Look, I'm not trying to start a fight or be a jerk here, I'm just saying there's a mountain of work and a ton of supplies needed. Let me take a stab at what we'll probably need to grab—feel free to fix my math or add stuff if you guys know more than I do:
TILE ADHESIVE
GROUT
SPACERS
CEMENT—for framing the door and patching that tub hole
DRYWALL COMPOUND (2 lengths equal to the window size) = ?
SPRAY FOAM
In my book, there's zero point in looking for a pro tilers until this mess is cleaned up.
Alright folks, step up to the plate. If you can help Angela Newman33 knock this out, let her know.

From what I can tell, someone needs to cut a big window in the bathroom, which isn't rocket science, but you really need to get all that squared away before you even think about calling a tile guy. Once that's done, you'll need to set up some smaller supports and prep everything before the tiles go on. Just a heads-up, you're gonna need some mortar too (correct me if you've already got that covered)
Plus, there’s a doorway that needs to be knocked out and framed. You might need to level the floor, patch up the hole where the tub used to be, and all that jazz. When you just list "toilet and sink," people think that's the whole job. They'll show up ready to install those, but they won't realize how far from finished the room actually is.
I'm not trying to be a jerk or start an argument here, I just want everyone to realize there's a ton of work and supplies needed. Let me try to list out what I think we'll need for materials—feel free to fix my mistakes or add stuff (I'm sure some pros in here will chime in):
TILE ADHESIVE
GROUT
SPACERS
CEMENT—for the doorway and patching the tub area
MORTAR (2x length of the window) = ?
EXPANSION FOAM
In my opinion, there's no point in looking for a tile specialist until we knock this part out first.
Alright folks, step up if you can help. Angela Newman33, hit us up so we can get this moving.

Hey, check out this "Home Improvement" guide, it covers everything in detail:

Weekend battle plan:

- Rip up those bathroom floor tiles
- Pull out the old window and just brick up the gap for now
- get a new window installed
- Lay down some laminate in the bedroom
- Sort out all the plumbing and drainage in the bathroom
- Tile the floor
- Finish cleaning up the backyard once and for all
- Dig the trench for the water line

Look, even if it looks a bit different now, I still gotta double-check that the contractor actually finished painting and prepping that room—basically making sure there’s nothing left but the damn laminate to lay down. P.S. I don't see any sign of the window casing being installed, and from what I know, you can't even get the window in without it. PEOPLE, THIS IS URGENT. If you know the width of the window, just tell me already.

For a tiny little window like that, you don't even need casing.

The handyman patched up everything around the door and windows yesterday—plus that spot near the ceiling in the bigger room.
He also stripped all the old paint off the other ceiling and applied some primer.
Today's all about smoothing things out, sanding, and then starting on the second room's ceiling.

So now we're just waiting for things to dry before the painting starts—probably tomorrow.

I can't promise it'll be wrapped up by Saturday, though. With this guy, you never really know when he's actually going to show up or if he'll just flake out.

That's why I’m not making any firm plans yet—until everything is actually done, I'm staying cautiously optimistic. 😁

The ceiling is finally primed, so there's a decent shot we might actually get moving tomorrow.

I'm not getting my hopes up just yet though... better safe than sorry. 🤣

A huge shipment showed up today—tiles, two faucets, and the bathroom vanity.

Still need to grab the shower stall and the rest of the floor and wall materials from that list.

Does anyone actually need hands on deck tomorrow from 9 AM to 1 PM?

Yeah, we do.

The painter didn't even show up today—and he’s totally ghosting my calls. What an absolute jerk. 😢

Basically, because of him, the laminate installation is pushed back and the kids' move-in date is up in the air. 😢

I'm gonna try to get a head start on the ceilings tonight, then once we all link up tomorrow, we can divvy up the work.

Because of his laziness, the whole timeline is trashed—we can't lay down the laminate flooring, and the kids can't move in. Everything is stalled. 😢

I'll try to get a head start on the ceilings tonight myself, then once we all get together tomorrow, we can divvy up the rest of the work.

Do you have the gear you need? Like rakes, nails, shovels, stuff like that?

I had to give my wife her old username back. Anyway, I'll swing by tomorrow morning for a beer since you guys keep inviting me. I'll bring some gear and tools if anyone's looking to work on their bike...

Is that even you? I almost didn't recognize you 😁

Yeah, yeah... definitely a bike 🎉

The guy I hired for the painting job totally flaked on me again today. He’s ghosting my calls—what an absolute jerk. 😢

Because of his nonsense, we're basically guessing when the laminate flooring will be done and when the kids can actually 😢move into the house.

I'm going to try to get at least the ceilings started tonight, then once we all get together tomorrow, we can divvy up the rest of the work.

Can you give me an update later tonight? I want to make sure my buddies know exactly what kind of tools they need to bring.

will

we just picked up two wardrobes for the kids and we're heading out to drop them off tonight... maybe by some miracle the handyman actually shows up and gets stuff done in the meantime, though I'm not holding my breath 😢

I'll post a full update once I'm back
