Hey everyone! I’ve been dealing with this same nagging issue for the last three days—intense stomach pain that just radiates over to my left side. Honestly, I'm posting because I'm getting pretty worried; since this started, my bathroom trips have been totally off, just tiny and loose movements. To make matters worse, whenever I eat, the pain hits me immediately, feeling like I'm getting bloated out of nowhere, almost like my digestion is completely blocked. Another weird symptom is that I've barely passed any gas in three days; I feel like I need to, but then it just retreats and the pain comes right back! I don't have a fever or any vomiting, but the pain is becoming unbearable. My last couple of movements were watery and mixed with some dark fluid. Should I be worried enough to head to the doctor? Is there a chance this could be an intestinal blockage? Like I said, I'm struggling just to go, and the most confusing part is being constantly bloated without being able to pass any gas! Thanks!

Donna Hughes13, look, the stuff you’re describing sounds pretty heavy to me and honestly, you really ought to go see a doctor ASAP—like, if you can swing a specialist gastroenterologist right away, just do it! You mentioned yourself that things feel blocked up, and that "dark liquid" in your stool... man, that could seriously be blood, which is nothing to mess around with. You really need to get checked out, maybe do some lab work or even a colonoscopy just to be safe...
I don't mean to be rude or pry, but if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
Lately, my own family has been dealing with a ton of gut issues—my 😢 is still struggling with it too, so maybe I’m just being an overreacting mess, but the whole point is that things could have been way less stressful if we hadn't ignored the warning signs and actually gone to the clinic immediately! Don't put this off! I mean, hey, maybe it turns out to be nothing at all, but at least you won't be sitting there worrying about it... I'm pulling for you!

So, I just hit 25, and honestly, things have been rough for about five years now. A colonoscopy back then showed some inflammation in my colon lining, and the symptoms feel pretty much the same as what I’m dealing with today. Back then, though, passing gas was a breeze, but now? It feels like everything just gets stuck halfway through, along with undigested food, which causes some serious pain! It’s like the gas tries to make its way out, hits a wall, and then bounces right back up. The symptoms definitely flare up after I eat and seem to chill out when I'm fasting. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I’ve already got an appointment booked with a gastroenterologist, but I’ve still got a bit of a wait 🙄
Should I be stressing too much about this?

Look, if you’re dealing with an emergency, gastroenterologists—even in private practice—will see you the same day or at least the next. Don't sit around waiting. Even if you're hoping it's nothing, living in constant pain and fear of what you might eat next isn't exactly a great way to live. Please, if you haven't rushed out the door yet, just go. We're often taught that neglecting our health is some kind of noble, selfless, or brave thing, but honestly? It’s just reckless and selfish. The people who love you could lose you because of these delays, or they could be stuck caring for you for a long time. It’s pretty unfair to put that on them. Also, let's be real: forums aren't for getting diagnoses. That job belongs to doctors, who have years of training, specialized equipment, and entire medical teams behind them. Don't expect anyone here to give you a smarter answer than a pro just by reading a few lines of text. This place is for sharing what happened, describing symptoms, or checking if someone else went through something similar so you feel less alone. You can find support here, sure, and maybe even some well-meaning but misguided advice, but actual diagnoses come from professionals with much better labs and expertise than we have here. :-)
Good luck!!!
Get to a doctor and start taking care of yourself. Being responsible for your own health is how you show you care about your loved ones, too.

So I ended up in the ER today because the pain was just unreal! At first, they wouldn't even see me—they were basically telling me it sounded like a stomach bug and that I should just call my primary care physician instead! 😕
Eventually, they gave in, and a GI specialist took a look at me. She actually told me it’s totally normal if you can't pass gas! 🤷
As long as things are moving along, right? My digestion seems fine, but for the pain, they hooked me up to an IV drip??
The doctor checked my abdomen and basically said everything looks good 🙂
My blood work came back clear, too. I've got an urgent follow-up with the gastroenterologist this Friday
