Laura Castillo7 said:Just checking in with you all. I was absolutely wiped out yesterday. I feel alright for now, I suppose, though being confined to this bed is becoming a real nuisance. Honestly, I can’t wait until they finally get all this junk cleared out of my system. And frankly, I'm dying to know what my nose actually looks like right now. With everything going on with it—inside and out—it looks massive. It's impossible to get an honest assessment.

Lina, I am truly glad you saw that through.🙂

Ryan Green2, tell me, is that swelling at the bridge of your nose still hanging around? 🙂

Hey Jesse Taylor7, regarding that swelling issue—honestly, nothing much to report. The only thing I’m noticing is that by early evening, the tip of my nose gets a little puffy, you know? It stays like that until morning, and then once around 10 or 11 AM, everything just settles back to normal. But hey, it’s totally expected since the surgery was only about six weeks ago... everything is still pretty fresh in terms of healing...
Do you still have that bump at the bridge of your nose?

I do. That spot is a little tender when I touch it. Did they break any bones during your procedure?

Hey... wait, where exactly is your lump? Is it right where that old bump used to be?
The whole area around my old bump feels slightly swollen—honestly, I look like I’ve still got the bump, just a bit more subtle😢

Supposedly this lasts for up to three months... and then things should flatten out completely🙂
At least, that's what I'm praying happens🙂

At least, that's what I'm hoping for. 🙂

Hey Al! The only bump I have is right between my eyebrows.

I’m assuming those larger swellings are just lumps where the surgeon had to grind down the most bone. Who told you they’d just disappear after three months?🙂

That bump between your brows might be from applying the ointment to your upper lip. Did you ask them? If it's an application issue, it should be noted in your discharge papers.

A mermaid. Truly mesmerizing.😁
😕What happened to your PMs? Maybe they're full. I can't seem to send you a message.

Actually, it isn't really a lump per se, more like swelling right where my old bump used to be—about an inch below the brow line.
When I touch it, it feels like actual flesh or tissue is there, rather than just feeling the bone directly under the skin.
My doctor told me to leave it alone—no touching, no massaging—claiming it’ll subside... basically using that classic line, "you know, swelling can last two to three months."
(Though, if I recall correctly, I’ve read that some doctors actually recommend gentle massage).
But then, when I can't help myself and poke at it just a little bit😁, the whole area seems to turn bright red...🤷

Maybe it really is better to just leave it be...😵

Hey Raymond Wells2, it doesn't say that here. Could you clarify what you mean by that? Does 😕
actually pass?

If we're talking about an injection, then it stays right where it was put. You just poke the area, and if it feels firm and fixed—like it won't budge from the surrounding tissue—then it’s likely an injection. This usually happens when a hump is removed to ensure everything stays balanced and achieves that slightly contoured look.
Anyway, they didn't do that for me. My surgeon explained the whole thing before the procedure. Honestly, the need for an injection is usually determined by the doctor during the surgery itself once the hump is removed... well, I hope that helps.

Whisper, how is your nose coming along? Have you decided which surgeon you're going to see for the revision?🤣

This is typically done when removing a hump in the middle to ensure everything stays balanced and achieves that slightly rounded shape.
Anyway, I haven't had this done myself, but my surgeon explained it to me before the procedure. He said the actual need for an injection becomes apparent during the surgery itself, once the hump has been excised... anyway, I hope that helps you out.

Thanks Febles, that clears things up for me.

Hey everyone! So, I’ve been dealing with a deviated septum, and I’m finally looking into getting septoplasty. Since my nose has a bit of a hump to it, I’m actually thinking about getting a rhinoplasty done at the same time too! Now that I have to head over to the Vineyard clinic for a consultation with Dr. Smith, I was wondering how the whole process works there... does anyone here have any firsthand experience with the services at the Vineyard?

...also, does anyone have another doctor they’d highly recommend? Please, if you could help me out, I would appreciate it so much... it’s an Emergency!!!

Thanks in advance 🙂

I did a little tidying up around here just so nobody wastes their breath hunting through junk....Most of that "junk" was just people posting about specific private clinics, prices, bills... basically any kind of indirect advertising. Honestly, I've had my fill of those "famous" private practitioners, so if you're looking for a personal recommendation or someone's trying to plug themselves in a Trending Topic at the top of the Health section—or even just sliding into DMs to hawk services—I'm not having it.
Look, we can totally talk about cosmetic surgery—sharing experiences, impressions, results, or even just venting about fears... but for heaven's sake, don't come shoving private clinic ads under my nose here.... talking about hospital names is fine, but when it comes to private practices, we need to be extremely careful...

Count me in on this thread too. Honestly, I’ve become a bit of an expert on nose jobs at this point because I’ve already gone under the knife twice, and yep—there’s a third one on the horizon :O
How did I get here? Well, my first round was mainly to fix a deviated septum. That actually made a huge difference for my breathing, and let's be real, it gave the shape a nice little upgrade too. The second time around, I had to go back because my cartilage ended up looking way too bulky compared to the bridge of my nose. So, they went in to slim down both the bone and the cartilage. At first, I was absolutely loving the results, but it’s been a year since that last surgery and my nose has changed significantly. Just a heads-up for everyone: don't expect to see the final version after just a month. You really won't see the true result until about six months have passed. I’m not trying to freak anyone out, but... yeah, I'm heading back in for another procedure because that cartilage issue is back. I had my previous surgeries done at the local clinic with Dr. Smith, who is honestly a great guy, but I am praying to the universe that this is the final time... if you guys have any questions, feel free to reach out. Xoxo🙂

Jesse Taylor7, how long did it take for that facial swelling and bruising to finally clear up?

Two weeks in and my bruising was gone, but that swelling lingered much longer than a month—not severe, mind you, but definitely noticeable. It’s been two months now, and everything looks fine except for this persistent swelling right between my eyebrows. In the mornings, I can just feel it, but by evening, it actually becomes visible. How are things on your end?

My face looks completely distorted right now, and I have an exam this Tuesday—so, one week away. Honestly, I'm wondering if I'll even be able to show my face in public; if I can't, there's really no point in studying...😉
Also, tell me—was your upper lip heavily swollen? Mine is quite bad; I feel totally stiff. I want to be able to smile, but it's just not happening...

Did you actually ask the doctor about that lump? What was their take? Is it something visible, or is it just palpable?
Oh, and did they at least show you how to perform lymphatic drainage massage on yourself?
Has the shape of your nose changed at all since the surgery?
God, that's a lot of questions....
