Elizabeth Bennett15 said:Hey Jesse Taylor7, I honestly don't have anything to say about the bumps. I really hope they stay gone, because apparently, things can change quite a bit up until the 3-month mark. They say those bumps are just a normal part of the recovery process after rhinoplasty—at least, that’s what the experts claim!
I have my follow-up scheduled for after 3 months, how about you?

As for lymphatic drainage, I went in for a session once and my face ended up completely inflamed. They told me it was totally normal, and suggested I contact my dermatologist later. Well, my dermatologist told me to stop doing them immediately to prevent making things worse. She pointed out that while these drainages are recommended for severe swelling, in my specific case, the swelling had already subsided by the time I showed up. Yet, after leaving my face looking so swollen, the lady working there insisted it would be best to do about 5 or 6 more sessions... who knows who is telling the truth here? (It seems obvious to me there might be some sort of arrangement going on, where they push these treatments just to line their own pockets rather than actually helping the patient). My dermatologist advised me to just massage my nose myself, and so far, everything is great!!!

Hey Ryan Green2, I've been scheduled for my check-up after 2 months (interesting 🙂 )

Emily Campbell36 said:Honestly, both options were fine. Everything went surprisingly smooth. I was actually pretty terrified about being put under with general anesthesia, but it turned out way better than I expected—zero pain and no bruising at all.

Who even performed your surgery?

Hey Jesse Taylor7, yeah, this is super interesting—it’s pretty obvious everyone is getting a different story, but hey, what can you do, right?!!! Though, I totally insisted on getting my check-up done earlier, so I actually called them mid-afternoon and managed to nail down an appointment ahead of schedule...

Laura Lee29, I paid eighteen hundred bucks for the surgery!

Laura Lee29, I paid $1,800 for the surgery!

Right, thanks... I was doing a bit more reading and found out..😉so are you actually happy with him?? Man, I don't even know anymore, I have to pick someone soon because I'm never going to get this done if I keep stalling.😢

feralbadger102 said:Hey girls! So, I’m actually planning on getting surgery soon and I’m totally torn between Dr. Glumičić and Dr. Ostojić! I actually had a septoplasty done before through my insurance provider, and honestly, it was such a nightmare because the deviation is still there—nothing changed at all. My nose is visibly crooked, which really shows up in photos, and it’s starting to drive me crazy, so I definitely want to fix it once and for all! Also, does anyone know how much prices usually range? From what I’ve gathered, everything seems to be hovering around $2,000 to $2,300...

Wait, did you already have your previous surgery covered by Blue Cross?

Yeah, that was actually about three years ago. Honestly, the results weren't great at all, so now I'm looking at getting everything fixed. It’s also proving to be quite a challenge to save up enough cash for the procedure, because from what I can tell, the total cost jumps up significantly if you decide to go with a payment plan...

Come on, please, would you mind sharing who performed your surgery? I’m just trying to figure things out... and hey, did your nose end up looking crooked too?? Because that’s exactly what happened to me... I honestly don't know if they just made everything worse for you, or if, in the absolute worst-case scenario, it's just the same as it was before the procedure—assuming it isn't actually better!

First off, a huge hello to everyone here. I’m technically new to the group, though I’ve been lurking and reading through all your comments since long before I finally pulled the trigger on my rhinoplasty... The surgery is done, and recovery is generally going smoothly—well, mostly. The one thing is, now that the cast has come off, my nose is looking pretty red and is covered in these tiny white bumps—kind of like little pustules? I’m feeling a bit uneasy about it. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? Any advice on how you handled it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm feeling the exact same way as Laura Lee29 and feralbadger102. I keep scrolling through these forums, but I just can't make up my mind—it feels like I've been putting this off month after month... Even though the costs are high, Glumičić is still my top choice, though Mayo Clinic definitely has some solid surgeons worth considering. Does anyone know how the process works if I go through a major hospital system? Can I just book directly with a specific doctor and then get a referral from my primary care physician, or do I need to see an ENT specialist in my own city first to get a recommendation🙂? If you've already gone through this, I'd love to hear about your experience... I really don't want to end up under the knife with someone I'm not comfortable with when I could have chosen someone else.

Which surgeon did you go to?

What’s the actual process if I want to go through insurance? Can I just pick a doctor I actually like and then ask my primary care physician for a referral, or do I have to head into town first to see an ENT 🙂 to get a recommendation or whatever? For anyone who's already done this, could you share how it went? I really don't want to end up under the knife of some hack when I was looking for someone else...

First thing is you gotta get a referral from your GP to see an ENT...
then you call the hospital and book an appointment with whichever specialist you want; once you're actually in the exam room, that's when you hash out the details for the procedure—like fixing the deviation plus the cosmetic stuff 🙂

Hey, sorry if this has already been covered—I honestly don't have the bandwidth to scroll through this entire thread😢 I’ve got a question: I’m looking into getting a nose job, and to be totally blunt, it's purely for aesthetics. The issue is that I can't quite scrape together $10,000 right now, and from what I've gathered in a few posts, these procedures are performed in public hospitals too. I just haven't been able to find anything clarifying whether they only handle medically necessary surgeries or if you can get cosmetic work done at a standard hospital. I'm assuming it would still cost a decent amount, though probably less than $10k. Thanks.🙂

I’m sorry, everyone, but I honestly feel it’s just wrong when someone who can breathe perfectly fine goes to a hospital for cosmetic procedures. Our healthcare system is already struggling to stay afloat, and it feels like common decency should dictate that we prioritize people who actually can't breathe—people who might end up waiting months just to see a specialist because the slots are being filled by folks looking for elective enhancements. I really hope the administration steps in to prevent this; to me, it feels no different than someone using taxpayer money to fund a luxury lifestyle they could easily afford themselves.👎
There is a massive difference between functional, life-saving surgery and an aesthetic makeover funded by the taxpayers... nobody would ever open their own wallet for those kinds of extras, right? Suddenly it's "too expensive" for the individual, yet somehow the state is expected to pick up the tab?

Hey! Assuming you're local since you traveled to Malibu for the surgery; did you look into any doctors in Los Angeles instead? Why not just get it done there? I'm living in LA and would love to handle it locally, but everyone keeps raving about those surgeons up in NYC. Like, please, can someone give me the scoop on the LA docs? Thanks a bunch.

I'm not actually from around here, but... well, in my case, it was about a septoplasty and some cosmetic work, and nobody in LA wanted to take it on all at once.🤣

So, I’ve run into a bit of an issue.
About a month ago, I finally went through with surgery to fix a small bump on my nose.
Now, the bump looks smaller—which is good—but it hasn't completely vanished yet. 😢
When I touch the area, it feels kind of swollen and a little soft to the touch.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar? If you have, how long did it take for that swelling to actually subside?
My doctor told me it should clear up in about one or two months, but I guess we'll see.

Thanks! 🙂

To be honest, my experience with the post-op recovery has been so seamless that it’s almost like I never even had the surgery—I don't feel any different at all, and honestly, nobody has even noticed my new nose. 🤷

In my experience, after my own nose surgery, it felt like I hadn't even had the procedure done at all—nothing felt particularly different, and honestly, nobody even noticed my new nose. 🤷

And who was your surgeon?

Just checking in with everyone—I’m feeling alright today after yesterday, though I’ve been relegated to staying out of bed for the time being... I am honestly just counting down the minutes until they get all this stuff cleared out. I'm genuinely curious to see what my nose actually looks like once the swelling subsides; with everything currently attached to it and stuffed inside, it looks massive—it's impossible to make any kind of accurate assessment right now.
