Honestly, both. Everything went incredibly smoothly, all things considered. I was actually pretty nervous about the general anesthesia—it’s always a bit daunting, isn't it?—but in the end, it turned out much better than I had anticipated. I didn't experience any pain afterward, and surprisingly, I didn't even end up with any bruising.

My nose actually works just fine, for what it's worth*. I haven't dealt with an allergic reaction in two years—you know, none of those stuffed-up noses, headaches, dizziness, or fevers that used to hit me after being out in the grass too long. Plus, I wasn't spending most of the year waking up in a panic and sprinting to the bathroom for toilet paper... whereas usually, I was just constantly dealing with a cold.

I honestly thought that once things settled down and reached some kind of "normal" state, it would resolve itself. But nope. It still looks swollen; there are no clear lines anymore, even though it’s technically symmetrical. It looks like half a pear just stapled onto my face.
Not to mention how much wider it is compared to everything else (even if my profile looks okay from the side).

Is there any way to reduce this without going under the knife?

*By the way, my breathing is pretty shallow. I get this semi-intoxicated, lightheaded feeling whenever someone tells me to take a deep breath, and if I try to breathe through my nose while running, I end up choking.

I did, thank God, and I feel like I actually got lucky in the end.
Everything was fine with my own procedure, and personally, I didn't have a single complaint. However, two girls who went after me were definitely not so fortunate.
Dr. Glušac gets featured in the local papers—you know, those major metropolitan dailies everyone in town reads—and of course, he’s all over the page, acting like he's the absolute best and spends his time fixing everyone else's mistakes. Meanwhile, one girl he treated had to go back to a clinic in San Francisco for a corrective procedure, and the other is looking for a new surgeon right now because she doesn't even know who to trust. That's just what I know, since I'm close with both of them.

But here is the part that truly shocked me... I want to reiterate that I personally had zero issues or grievances, but how can a doctor who claims to be the finest in the entire United States—someone who acts like nobody is ever good enough for him (those who have been in his chair will know exactly what I mean)—make a mistake that even a complete novice shouldn't make? And that mistake is forgetting to remove the gauze from the nose after surgery
The poor girl had gauze stuck in her nose for two whole weeks. She's on antibiotics now, and things should eventually be okay, but she is absolutely traumatized.

So, how on earth am I supposed to praise this doctor now?? I used to, but there is no way in hell I would recommend him to anyone ever again. My own experience was great, so I had originally planned to go back to him for a little lip filler—he already gave me the quote and told me what needed to be done—but forget it. There is no way I'm going back to him, not even if he offered to do it for free!

I know that situation well... I mean, everyone messes up sometimes, and honestly, I think this is the first time he’s ever had an issue like this. Besides, he actually owned up to his mistake and apologized, which, if you ask me, isn't something you see many other doctors doing these days..
That girl is just way too happy with her nose and still thinks he's the absolute best..
I mean, look at how many people are out here complaining about absolutely every single doctor they encounter. I guess everyone should just judge based on their own personal experience. For me, my surgery was great, my nose looks awesome, and I can breathe perfectly fine.. My doctor sees me every couple of days to clean everything out and uses this specialized device to clear my sinuses... personally, I think that kind of follow-up care is a huge plus..👍

I know two girls who had really complicated nasal reconstructions—one was actually on her second surgery and the other was on her third—and he managed to fix things in a way that no other doctor had been able to before.. One of them even opted for silicone implants and she's totally thrilled with the result.

Just reading through your posts and feeling a bit down... 😢
I honestly hate my nose so much I can't even look at myself in the mirror. I don't think I look bad overall, but my nose just ruins everything. From a profile view, I look like a guy, and it feels terrible.
Every time I tried talking to my family about it, they just turned it into a joke. They'd say things like, "If you had a different nose, it wouldn't even suit you."
I'm not looking for perfection, but my nose just runs straight down from my forehead. I don't have that little dip near my eyes that separates the forehead from the nose. It's just one long line, and of course, there's a bump on top too 😬.
So, I face myself in the mirror every single day. Sometimes I wake up hoping it isn't actually that bad—and for a second, it doesn't seem so bad—until I catch my profile by accident, and my mood just crashes.
I won't get surgery because I just don't have the money. Honestly, that's probably the only thing stopping me. All those fears about the pain and everything else just vanish when you imagine the end result. 😢

Anyway, that's my story. I just wanted to say that you guys should be grateful you have the option, one way or another...

maybe try hitting up your primary care doc... get them to write you a referral for a deviated septum so you can get it sorted at the hospital through your insurance.
my doctor told me that hardly anyone actually has clear nasal passages anyway...😉

I posted about this on the "septum deviation" thread yesterday, so I figured I’d drop it here too. If anyone’s actually gone through surgery at Mayo Clinic—and maybe only read a couple of comments—please, leave some advice or tell me how it went.🙏

I’ve scrolled through every single post on both threads... honestly, I’m right on the edge of just running away from it all.😉

Diagnosis is a deviated septum. After four years of struggling to breathe and now two years of waking up constantly because I'm mouth-breathing... yeah, I finally decided to go for the surgery.
The plan is to get a rhinoplasty done alongside the septum correction. I'm pretty nervous since this is my first time ever going under the knife.
Scheduled for March at Mayo Clinic.
Hey everyone... hope you're all doing good. Fingers crossed for a nice nose.🙂

Hey, does anyone here have experience with lingering discoloration or dark circles lasting a long time after surgery? I’ve always had naturally pronounced dark circles under my eyes, and frankly, I’m terrified that this procedure might actually make them look even more prominent or leave them permanent. I recall hearing about a woman who went through this exact nightmare—she ended up with massive, deep circles right where she didn't want them after her operation.

Maybe try visiting your primary care physician? If they write you a referral for a deviated septum, you could head to the hospital through Blue Cross Blue Shield to get it sorted out.
My doctor told me hardly anyone actually has clear nasal passages...😉

Oh, really? Thanks for the insight... 🙂
But I’d have to switch doctors first. My current one is fine, generally, but when it comes to certain things... good grief.
And well, it runs in my family—we just love to be right about everything...
I can already hear them saying I'm making it up, just looking for attention, or being a hypochondriac. 🙄

Anyway. Thanks for the advice regardless. 🙂

Hey everyone... I'm looking for some insight. Has anyone here actually gone through the process of getting surgery covered by the state health insurance? I’m currently gearing up to grab my referral and get all the paperwork in order, but I’ve heard rumors that the whole thing takes about five months to clear. That timeline is a total dealbreaker for me. My goal is to have my nose fixed before the end of the school year😲. That gives me roughly three months, or maybe during summer break—though I’ve also heard they tend to put non-emergency procedures on hold during the holidays because they aren't considered urgent. (Honestly, if they actually saw my nose, they’d realize it *is* an emergency!!😠))

PLEASE RESPOND ASAP... I'm running out of time if what I've heard is true😢

Mark Cook8, you honestly crack me up... I mean, isn't this supposed to be a place where we share actual experiences? For heaven's sake, I personally accompanied a friend to her surgery, so I know exactly what her nose looked like before and how it looks now. From the front, it’s passable, but the profile is a total zero.

I'm not gossiping; I'm simply reporting what I know firsthand. I'm not making anything up, and everything I wrote regarding Dr. Miller is the truth, unfortunately.
I also made it clear that I was satisfied with my own results and still am.
However, after witnessing a few of his recent misses, I just can't bring myself to recommend him to anyone anymore.
Look, if someone really wants to book him, go right ahead, but I felt obligated to share my perspective with these ladies. I'm speaking from my own shoes—if I were planning a procedure, I'd want to know every possible detail about my surgeon, and I assume other women feel the same way.

And for the record, his entire staff is wonderful; I've already given them credit. As for Miller himself, he's fine—I actually appreciated how he reassured me and told me not to worry, but his one major flaw is that he thinks every other doctor in the field is incompetent.

Anyway, cheers everyone. I'm stepping away from this thread because I have zero interest in getting into a back-and-forth argument. Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone!
So, I had my rhinoplasty done about a month ago with Dr. Glumičić, and honestly? I couldn't be happier. Huge shoutout to the entire staff at the clinic—they were amazing—and of course, the doctor himself is just top-tier... seriously an incredible surgeon!
For me, the bruising cleared up after about two weeks, though the swelling hung around a bit longer—maybe closer to three weeks—but overall, everything is looking great. No bumps, no weird lumps, nothing like that... fingers crossed it stays this way!

Hey Ryan Green2, do you happen to have a little bump right at the bridge of your nose?

About ten years ago, I underwent surgery to correct a deviated septum, but honestly, it didn’t do much for me. My nose still runs constantly, feels partially obstructed, and is just generally unreliable—especially at night, when I end up breathing through my mouth most of the time. I recently had some X-rays done, and the verdict was that I have thickened nasal mucosa due to an allergic reaction, though strangely enough, basic triggers like dust don't seem to bother me.
Since private surgeons are currently priced way out of my budget, and I’m still on the fence about whether another procedure will even work, could anyone recommend a reliable surgeon working within the hospital systems in Chicago?
My first attempt was at Mercury, seeing Dr. Lajtman, but I wasn't exactly thrilled with the results.

Hey Laura, your big day is coming up soon 🙂. As for me, my nose feels great. No lumps, no nothing—except for that little bump right at the bridge. It’s actually shrinking, though, so I'm not worried; it'll clear up. I think everyone gets that, since it's just where the bone was broken. Best!

Hi everyone.🙂
I had a revision procedure with Glumičić about four months ago, and frankly, I’m not happy with the results. This is strictly my personal preference, so I’m not trying to bash anyone’s work. My nose was originally straight, though not overly delicate (think Nastassja Kinski style), and my main goal was to address a small bump that wasn't even very noticeable. Now, my profile looks softer, but from the front, I don't feel I look as good as I did before. The tip feels a bit too short, even if the change isn't massive. I'm looking to slightly extend the tip and reshape it downward. I just can't get used to this upturned look. Has anyone here had experience with nose tip augmentation or lengthening?
Thanks.

Hey Jesse Taylor7, regarding the bump—honestly, I don't have anything to say about it. I really hope it stays that way, because apparently things can shift all sorts of ways up until the 3-month mark. And those bumps? They're supposed to go away on their own, which is totally standard during rhinoplasty recovery—at least that’s what the experts claim!
I've got my follow-up scheduled for after month 3, how about you?

And as for the lymphatic drainage... man, I went in for one session and my face just absolutely blew up. They tried telling me it was "normal" for it to swell like that, and that I should just check in with my dermatologist later. Well, my derm told me to stop doing them immediately before things got even worse. Apparently, they recommend those sessions for severe swelling, but looking back at my own case—by the time I actually showed up for the appointment, the swelling wasn't even there anymore! So then, the lady working there had the nerve to tell me it would be "best" if I came in for 5 or 6 sessions... yeah, right. Like we don't know what's going on... (let's just say they probably have some little arrangement together, and they're more interested in lining their pockets than actually doing what's best for the patient). My dermatologist basically advised me to just massage my nose myself, and honestly, everything is looking great so far!!!

Ugh... look, long story short—I broke my nose three times when I was a kid, and now my photos look terrible 🙂..so I wanted to know if anyone knows Dr. Bagatin? Is he any good? And what about Dr. Munitić (I've seen him getting a lot of praise lately)? If you've actually had a great result, please recommend someone to me, whether they're in private practice or at a hospital. I'm planning to get surgery ASAP, so I need to hear some real opinions. Thanks 🙂)

Ugh... I know two girls who went to him and their noses look flawless, but honestly, I'm terrified to book an appointment because of all those horror stories floating around...🙄Now I'm totally torn. It seems like people here either love him or hate him, right? Can you tell me how much the surgery cost?? I really need to get mine done too..😉Thanks.. and if you feel like sharing a photo,🙂 please do, or just DM me.. if not, no biggie..👍
