Hey,

Does anyone know what it means when my GOT (AST) is at 599 and GPT (ALT) is at 297? Just to give some context, I’m about 210 lbs, carry most of my weight in my gut, though my arms and legs look pretty normal. I actually started hitting the gym about five days ago, and since then, my urine has been looking really dark. That's why I went in for bloodwork, and those were the elevated numbers I got—everything else seems fine. I don't drink much, maybe once every few months, but I do smoke.

Can someone make sense of this chest CT report for me?

"Native chest scans show diffuse moderate bronchial deformation.
A discrete subpleural lesion, appearing as a focal abnormality with a completely non-specific presentation, is noted in the right lower lung lobe.
Discrete mediastinal lymphadenopathy is absent, as the lymph nodes remain within normal size limits.
The left hilum is tumescent. No signs of pleural effusion.

Symptoms included exposure to outdoor air causing intense coughing, followed by a fever.

Without the reference ranges, this report doesn't mean much—honestly, I don't trust anyone blindly, as I haven't quite earned the right to be that certain yet... ☕
But one thing caught my eye right away: this "sedimentation 3/5" part. I suppose there are differences from one lab to another, isn't there? Because when I had bloodwork done recently, I remember quite clearly that the normal range for sedimentation was 4-24.

As for the urine itself, everything shows up as negative on the report. That single red blood cell shouldn't really affect the color, nor does it seem to carry any major significance. A few white blood cells are perfectly normal...
Now, if you've started hitting the gym lately, it's entirely possible your urine is just more concentrated due to losing more fluids through sweat—especially if your hydration isn't quite where it needs to be... 🤷

Regarding the AST and ALT levels—since those are largely stored within skeletal muscle cells—it's quite plausible that their levels are elevated simply because of muscle strain from working out...

Hi there!
Since my doctor is going to be out of the office for a little while, I was hoping someone here might be able to help me clear something up. I just got some urine test results back, and it shows squamous epithelium at 19/uL, though the normal range is listed as uL. It also has an "H" next to it—I'm assuming that stands for "high" since it's over the limit? Thanks so much for any insight!

Thanks for the reply. All the results are within the normal range (they fit the reference values). I had an abdominal ultrasound today, and everything looks fine. I'm getting my AST and ALT retested; they've already dropped—one is down to 150, the other to 50. My doctor clearly sees that all the clinical findings are okay and it's just this one thing that's off.😕 Tomorrow I'm doing tumor markers.

Kevin Hernandez10 said:My CRP levels are sitting at 24, which is way above that 5.0 threshold they want to see. Honestly, seeing numbers like this just makes me want to scream.

The only thing that’s really keeping me up at night right now is my CRP levels...

Here’s where things stand:

Diagnosis: gastroenteritis, suspected infection.

I’ve been dealing with some brutal cramps and non-stop diarrhea lately.

Blood:
With a CRP of 6.35, looking at these results of yours, it seems like I don't really have anything to worry about after all...🤷)

The DKS – unsegmented 4.0 (ref. 0-2) is basically a mess.

Everything else looks totally fine—all right within the normal reference ranges.

Found this in my urine:
Protein 1 (negative ref.) — I guess that means they should actually be at zero. 🤷
Ketones at 1 (negative ref)... honestly, I’m pretty sure that’s just because I haven't eaten a single thing for the last few days.😁

Everything else is fine.

I'm guessing it's just some kind of stomach flu. Or what else could it be?? 🤷

Essentially, they suspect some kind of intestinal infection 😉

Sarah Flores said:Bloodwork:
CRP is 6.35 — (looking at these results you sent, it seems I might not need to worry too much...🤷)

CBC - unsegmented neutrophils 4.0 (ref. 0-2)

Everything else appears to be within normal limits, i.e., inside the reference range.

Urinalysis:
protein 1 (ref. neg) — I assume that means it should ideally be 0.🤷
ketones 1 (ref. neg)... — I read somewhere that this is likely just because I haven't been eating much over the last few days.😁

The rest looks fine.

CRP is a protein synthesized by the liver in response to inflammation.

The CBC is your complete blood count—specifically, the total leukocyte count. It makes sense that it's elevated during an infection, since white blood cells are the ones fighting off the pathogen.

As for why there's protein in your urine? I honestly have no clue.

Regarding the ketones, you're right—ketone bodies are produced more heavily during fasting, as the body exhausts its carbohydrate stores and shifts toward fat metabolism, making ketones a byproduct of that process.
If that really is what's causing your ketones, all I can say is that it's nothing to smile about.

I've got zero clue what you're talking about regarding protein in urine.

👍

Protein in urine is all about kidney function. If it shows up, it matters—specifically how it relates to glomerular filtration and general kidney health. That's the short version.

So, I just got my bloodwork back...

Iron levels are sitting at 57.2
UIBC is at 6.3

Everything else looks totally fine and within the normal range

It’s pretty obvious something is definitely off here, but I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with numbers like this? What does this even mean? (I'm planning to redo the tests in a month, and if they still look this wonky, I'll go see a hematologist)

My diet is pretty standard and healthy, and I don't take any supplements or anything like that...

Listen up! I went in for some bloodwork the other day and everything looks fine, except my sugar hit 6.1 on the finger prick! Then I did that official testing and it clocked in at 6.3, and after the glucose drink, two hours later I was at 7.3—when they say 7.8 is the limit. Should I be freaking out or what?

It’s not just "recommended," it means it *has* to be under 7.8! I see where you're at... but yeah, my cholesterol is a bit high too. Honestly, I think I need to get on a diet and actually eat better. My eating habits are a disaster... I don't eat all day and then just gorge myself until I can barely breathe. Peace.

So, here's the deal: I'm heading to the clinic this Wednesday to get tested (checking if I'll test positive for marijuana) via a urine sample. My last smoke was five days ago. How long should I hold off before my appointment to make sure the results come back clean?

Could adding just half a teaspoon of sugar to my coffee spike my blood sugar levels?🤷
I completely blanked this morning—I had my coffee and think I even snacked on a cookie before heading in for my labs. When the results came back, they showed 120 mg/dL (the normal range being 70-110 mg/dL)... could that coffee be the culprit behind the jump?

Has anyone here dealt with Breyer labs before? I was browsing their website, but they don't list any prices, and I’m really curious about what they charge. Are they pretty pricey?

I'm planning to get my blood sugar, a CBC, creatinine, sedimentation rate, and liver enzymes checked—just the standard stuff. About four years ago, my blood sugar was fine, though it was hovering right near the upper limit. I guess... how many days should I avoid sweets before getting my blood drawn?

Why bother with private clinics? What’s wrong with the standard ones?
I headed in today for a quick round of bloodwork—checking my glucose, cholesterol, creatinine, sedimentation levels... just the usual baseline stuff—and honestly, I find it hard to believe that private practitioners offer anything superior to our standard public healthcare systems.

I’m starting to spiral a little bit here—I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to go over the results with my doctor, but I already have this nagging gut feeling that something isn't quite right.😢

Hi there. This is my first time posting on this forum, though I’m hoping it won't be my last.
Two months ago, I dealt with infectious mononucleosis, which sent my liver enzymes skyrocketing—we're talking three-digit numbers, somewhere around the 700 mark. As of today, two months later, all my enzymes have returned to the normal range, with the exception of ALT, which remains slightly elevated at 53. My blood work is relatively fine; my RBC isn't perfect, but it's hovering right around the threshold.
Since I haven't had a chance to follow up with my specialist yet, I wanted to see if anyone else here has gone through something similar. Is it normal for things to still be a little off after they were once that high?
Best regards,

sweetie

I really hope your results come back okay. Fingers crossed!

I’d probably just go to a private lab to get my bloodwork done, honestly. It saves me the hassle of hunting down a referral. I actually had to ask my doctor for one recently because I had a follow-up appointment scheduled, and she gave me the referral then, but I really don't feel like going back there right now. I guess... I just felt kind of awkward talking to her. Maybe the best move is just to switch doctors entirely. I think I might actually do that.

That said, using a referral usually makes more sense since it's covered, and I do have supplemental insurance. I’ve actually had a pretty good experience at one local community health center, so the only issue is getting that paperwork sorted out. My last blood sugar check was five years ago, and I haven't had a full blood panel since my surgery nearly nine years ago... so, yeah, I suppose it's definitely time to get those checked.
