Hakkinen—a two-time champ with a rather limited vocabulary, sure, but the driving talent was undeniable. (Maybe you just can't stomach him because he was a McLaren driver; that's on you...)
Montoya was really the only one of that era who knew how to put on a show—mostly through sheer aggression and pure, unadulterated stupidity. And that's what he pulled on Schumi while driving a BMW that was two or three tenths slower...
Hamilton: Lost the title over a single point in his debut season, yet by the time we hit China, the championship was basically already his. He drives like he's on rails—even if his car wasn't exactly the fastest thing on the grid.
Alonso: Honestly, saying he isn't good is a massive disappointment on your part. I don't even think we need to discuss Alonso and his driving style back during the Schumacher era!

Montoya was great as a clown, but nothing more.
As for that supposedly weaker BMW? I wouldn't go that far. Back then, the BMW had incredible power, even if it was concentrated in a very narrow RPM range.
On tracks that suited them, it worked beautifully. On any other track? They were just supporting actors.

I'll give you this: Hamilton's first F1 season was stellar—nearly perfect, actually, considering how close he came to winning it all. But judging an entire career based solely on one season seems a bit rushed, don't you think?

That was easily the best US Grand Prix Montreal 2008 we've seen in years... Robert Kubica was 🙏 , and if there was any reason to celebrate, it was because, hey, that fierce American spirit—the "USA over everything" vibe really hit home right after 🙂. Lewis Hamilton was, predictably, a total clown, while Felipe Massa actually pulled off some genuinely classy moves. Nelson Piquet finally showed a glimmer of potential too... as for my Kimi... well, he's just plain lost it. I’m honestly holding out hope that Robert Kubica lands at Ferrari instead of Fernando Alonso...

Honestly, I can't believe the things Novak and Jehovah have tried to pull off lately... Come back home, little guy, we'll forgive you for anything!

I honestly can't forgive that mistake by Lewis Hamilton. It was inexcusable. On the other hand, Massa made the move of a lifetime. He absolutely nailed it. Meanwhile, Kovalainen was a total disaster out there. Kubica definitely caught a lucky break, though he was still clearly faster than Heidfeld.

I'm leaning toward thinking Max is the one to blame for the collision; if Lewis Hamilton hadn't been stuck in the pit lane, maybe Max wouldn't have charged forward so recklessly and slammed right into Kimi Räikkönen, so in my view, it's on Max.👎

As for the idea that Nick Heidfeld is superior to Sebastian Vettel, I honestly feel that's a bit nonsensical. While it might seem that way since Nick Heidfeld is currently driving for Red Bull Racing and Lewis Hamilton is in those Force India cars, they might be lucky to scrape together a single point by the end of the season. If Adrian Sutil and Sebastian Vettel were driving for Ferrari or McLaren instead, they’d likely be fighting for the championship title, because I guess you can only pull points out of a car like that if you possess truly elite talent.🙏

The folks running the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal handed out penalties to both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg for some pretty reckless driving while exiting the pits, which ended up causing that messy double collision...

Both drivers will be facing a ten-place grid penalty at the next race, the French Grand Prix at Magny Cours in two weeks, meaning they'll start ten spots further back than whatever they manage to grab during qualifying.
