It went something like this.
EB & HH The whole vibe was just completely unfocused—we were standing there in front of a half-empty Fillmore, dealing with some tone-deaf novice on the decks and a microphone that sounded like garbage sitting right in front of Biljan's setup. I mean, the volume was cranked to ten, yet you could barely hear a word being said. It was frustrating, honestly. But, I will say, toward the end of the set, the crowd finally started to loosen up a bit. It was a slight improvement, at least. Better than nothing, I suppose.
The Scarves - LibrI don't even know where to begin with this one—it’s just one of those things that gets under my skin more than I care to admit. You see it happening everywhere lately, this absolute breakdown in basic standards, and frankly, it’s exhausting. It feels like we're constantly fighting an uphill battle just to maintain some semblance of quality in everything we touch. I was thinking about it the other day—reminded me of that time back in Chicago when everything seemed to have its place, even if it was chaotic—and it struck me how much we've drifted from that. We used to value the details, the grit, the actual substance of things. Now? It’s all surface, all noise, and zero follow-through. It’s infuriating. People expect excellence without putting in the work, and then they act shocked when the whole thing falls apart at the seams. Honestly, if you aren't willing to put in the effort, why even bother showing up? It's a question I find myself asking more and more often these days.That band’s styling is absolutely lethal—and not in a good way. It’s practically an insult to anyone actually trying to make music. The lead singer is hovering somewhere on that bottom-tier retail level, just a notch below the guys in the Kaiser Chiefs. Honestly, if they spent less time posing and more time actually making some noise, they might stand a chance. Lale described them as the perfect "background music" for when you're just grabbing a beer at the bar and hanging out, but let me tell you—they aren't exactly the kind of act you'd want to be caught front and center for in a mosh pit. 😁
WCIF Their performance was absolutely pathetic—honestly, it was a total disaster from start to finish. 😲Honestly, looking at it from a purely technical standpoint—the musicianship, the sheer raw energy—that was easily their most "no-nonsense" performance to date. They were tight, incredibly precise, and just absolutely relentless; sweaty, loud, and powerful. My only minor gripe would be that unmiked crash cymbal, which left the overall sound feeling slightly incomplete, but everything else? Holy shit. They were the only band in the room that actually walked off stage hearing "one more song!" from the crowd. 👍 Bilodobro.
Nero Burns It wasn't exactly a powerhouse start to the set—more like they found their footing halfway through—but you could definitely see the crowd thinning out while they were on stage. A fair amount of people seemed to be heading for the exits, mostly because they’d already caught them live before (some had even seen them twice). Still, the energy held up enough to enjoy the support from Mr. Hellsonic right up in the front row, along with a few of the more disheveled regulars hanging around the forum scene.
Marshall and The Brainsuckers Look, visually speaking, you’d almost think someone from Straitjackets had been hanging out with Sunn O)). But they aren't. It feels way too much like a throwback to the seventies—and if you ask Dinko, he'll tell you straight up that they're just too flat. And then there's those heavy-handed production choices... I mean, what was the point of all that over-processing? 😕 It’ll be better.
Just a bunch of visibly intoxicated blowhards. 👍 🤣

I didn't show up at the start (on Saturday)—that whole assembly at The Fillmore was basically just a social mixer, which kept me from getting there sooner. I didn't arrive until Voodoo Cadillac took the stage. They played incredibly well. There was even some crowd surfing happening while they performed and all that jazz...
Vex was raving about those Canadians, and Gabi seemed to be really feeling herself—very much in her element. 😁

Though, haha, there are plenty of weird details in there. For some reason—and I kid because it's true—they keep making things up about me. One minute I've supposedly become a bassist (gross), the next they're claiming someone sang a Bejbiz song at the end of the S.U.S. set. What the hell? 😲 Anyway, let's move on. Thanks to the journalists for the coverage and the shots. 🙂
As for the bands, if you were there, you know who played. 🙂 I won't get into specifics. All I'll say is I've found some new heroes. Voodoo Cadillac 🙏
A special thanks to Biljane for opening the festival. They had a tough gig playing that early, and I know they didn't get the reception they deserved. That’s the only thing I truly regret. Everything else went according to plan per PE-ES.
One last thing. We survived this and pulled it all together purely through our own sweat and blood. Huge thanks to Zaki first and foremost, and a heartfelt thanks to everyone else who pitched in. 🙏 And it'll stay that way—the government and sponsors can fuck off. 👍

Things are bound to look up eventually... honestly, nothing to worry about, G. We should probably just start hoarding all our bottles and cans now so we can build up a massive stash by next year..
