Right-click the icon, then select copy image address (if you're using Google Chrome), click on the forum, right-click inside the new message box, hit Paste, and you're good to go.

I’d say this little icon is pretty much essential if we want this forum to actually function properly

I’ve been overthinking this "high five" emoji for a while now.
Sometimes my coworkers send it to me on Slack, and I honestly never know if I'm expected to fire one right back at them.

The whole idea behind a high five is basically asking someone to hold up their hand so you can slap it to celebrate something.

Since it's a physical interaction—you're actually hitting palms—it feels kind of weird to just leave them hanging without sending something back.🤔

Is there actually a way to insert emoticons into posts here on Reddit? Or do I need to toggle some kind of setting somewhere? I’m just using the standard version—not a premium subscription—if that even matters for this sort of thing.

Just so you know, emojis are tied directly to your keyboard settings; you need a keyboard that actually supports them so you can insert them just like you would in a standard text message. If you want more specifics or a full walkthrough, check out the instructions in that thread.

There’s just something about those old-school, basic emoticons that hits different... they really were the gold standard.
I actually dug up one of these from back in the day—it was a classic used on the old forums, straight from the archives.
