I'm looking for some kind of straightforward software that would let me take an original track and dial everything down—or just strip away all the layers except for something like the bassline, so that's the only thing hitting. If anyone can recommend a program and maybe throw in some instructions on how to actually pull it off, I’d really appreciate the 😁

Look, if you’re trying to strip everything away except the bass—or whatever else—you can just knock that out using something like Ableton Live. You just filter for the specific frequencies you actually want to hear, simple as that.

If you're looking for perfect isolation, forget it.
But if you just want to "accentuate" a specific instrument, it's somewhat doable. Like Jason Chavez32 mentioned, bass is the easiest. Trying to isolate guitars, piano, or drums... that's a much harder climb...

Just grab Serato DJ and you can strip away the music, leaving you with just the core elements... there really isn't any software out there capable of perfectly isolating an acapella....

So, I see everyone’s weighing in... basically, my main goal right now is to pull the drums forward or just beef up the whole kit across the board... I’m going to mess around with it later, so maybe some of your suggestions will actually click for me once I start tweaking things.
BUT
Right now, what I really need is some actual advice on how to bake a MIDI sound directly into the track and save it that way... the specific sound I'm looking to layer in is a metronome click set at 100 Beats Per Minute, so does anyone know where else I can grab a sample like that? Or is there a better way to just record it myself?

So, I went ahead and downloaded Serato DJ... look, I’ve never actually messed around with this kind of software before, but honestly, it’s an incredible tool if you're just starting out. Regarding my little mission to blend two tracks together, it was ridiculously easy: I just dropped one song in, tossed the other one in, tweaked the Beats Per Minute, and boom—done!
If anyone's looking for something to use down the road, just go ahead and download it!👍

I’d suggest checking out Adobe Audition, though I noticed you mentioned finding Serato DJ a bit heavy to use. Honestly, this one is much more demanding and complex, but it opens up way more possibilities for what you can actually create.

I see you're interested in mixing tracks, and if you want my humble opinion, Traktor is the absolute gold standard here.
There is even a scratch version available if you feel like experimenting a bit more.
So many DJs rely on Traktor; it's packed with features, but at its core, it feels just like having two turntables and a mixer right in front of you, so get out there and rock it!😉
