What if you quote someone just to stack up more points from their own thread?
Say person A posts three different questions.
Then person B quotes the first question before answering, then moves to the second, and so on... 🤷

Honestly, I just don't get it. Technology is such a headache.
Someone already tried explaining it to me, but it doesn't stick unless I actually see it—like, I need someone to walk me through every single movement, every little button I have to press.
I can handle quoting stuff and deleting what I don't need (I finally learned that part!!!), but breaking a sentence down line by line? Good grief, I have no clue where to even start.
Do I actually need to copy the sentences?
Is there anyone out there with enough patience to write this out for me in excruciating detail?🙏 🙏 I guess... not everyone is built for this kind of thing.
I mean, just tell me: click this, now click that, hit space, right-click, left-click... god, this is going to be the death of me.
I know it isn't rocket science, I really do, I just don't know how to kick things off.
And figuring out how to do a 3-in-1 post? That's basically sorcery to me.

It’s pretty straightforward: you just highlight the specific sentence, click the icon, and paste that text between the [*QUOTE] tags. You can also tag the person you're quoting by adding their name after the [QUOTE tag, like this: [QUOTE=vividfalcon14] 🙂
[*QUOTE]paste your text here
or with the name included, for example:
[*QUOTE=vividfalcon14]paste your text here
P.S.—don't include the asterisk *

I can't even send this thing; keeps giving me some error message. I tried testing my own text just to see if I could get it to work, but... honestly? I'll just wait until someone actually shows me how to do it properly. This whole thing is Greek to me. The real headache is that you can't see what the post is actually going to look like while you're trying to preview it. So, how am I supposed to know what needs fixing?
Thanks for the help, though. Maybe one day I'll finally get the hang of it.

The error is popping up because you need to include actual text beneath the quote, like an answer or a comment.
For example:
[*QUOTE]What is this?
This is Reddit.
It ends up looking like this:
What is this?
This is Reddit.
Just leave out the asterisk (*).
Basically, the system won't let you post empty quotes; there has to be some substance underneath them for the site to accept it.

Just without that little asterisk (*)
Basically, you can't just leave those empty quotes sitting there; this whole platform requires you to put text below them.
But I did write something. It still wouldn't work.
