And if you ask me, antispasmodics are meant for a different kind of issue altogether. They're for smooth muscle spasms, like what you deal with during kidney stones, gallbladder issues, menstrual cramps, or intestinal spasms.

My bad, my mistake.😁
You didn't mention where you're feeling the cramps, so I just assumed they were internal, involving the smooth muscle tissue...

Just watch out for sudden movements from now on.😁

Starting a new thread here.
Has anyone actually gone to a private lab or a clinic to get this specific analysis done? I seriously don't have the patience to sit around waiting six months or more just to see my results. If you have, can you give me the lowdown on what it costs and how fast they actually turn things around?

Also, I want to hear what you guys think about this stuff:
Darkfield microscopy using live blood droplets
Is that even remotely as reliable as the standard tests you'd get at a place like CVS or Walgreens?

melloworca6, did you manage to get that referral processed and run the search? What's the word?

And, just like James Ruiz84, I'm bumping this to ask where one goes for private testing, what the damage is, and how long the wait times are... thanks. 😍

I haven't actually asked yet. I’ve got a few more things I need to look into first, and honestly, I think they'd just grill me about it until I finished my own research anyway.

I doubt I'll be able to get them to cover everything. Maybe I can score some specific vitamins or minerals if my symptoms line up with certain deficiencies, but getting the whole list? Unlikely. I can always just pay out of pocket for the heavy hitters, especially since I know some stuff—like calcium or Vitamin D—is usually included in standard multivitamins anyway.

Starting a new thread here, just in case anyone finds this useful.

I’m honestly thinking about going private because I really don't have the patience to sit around waiting forever, though part of me is worried my whole situation might be a bit skewed. Does anyone happen to know what the typical rates look like in New York City?

Does anyone happen to know which specific blood tests you actually need to run to figure out if you're running low on vitamins?

Also, just wondering—is there a test that can pick up on heavy metals in your system?

I’m starting this thread because I’m curious about where I might be able to conduct this type of screening within the Seattle area. It pertains to potential metabolic causes behind depression.

Which lab in New York City offers the most comprehensive vitamin and mineral panel analysis?

Is it possible to conduct that search privately in Seattle?

I'm not an expert, so I can't claim to know which one is technically the "most complete," but I had my own bloodwork done (vitamins, minerals, hormones, etc.) here and I highly recommend them.

Hey, Betty Lopez3! I was wondering if you could give me the lowdown on what this costs? Like, what’s the actual vibe of the process, how long does everything usually take, and how much of a wait are we looking at for the test results? Thanks a ton!

My primary care doctor sent me over to get some bloodwork done for a few vitamins: B12, folic acid, and Vitamin D.

The referral is good for three months, and you can just walk into the hospital any day without an appointment. I headed over to the clinic near Vinogradski (it's a biochemistry lab; they see patients from 7:00 to 9:00 AM and told me to come on an empty stomach).

So, I went one day without scheduling anything ahead of time. I showed up around 8:00 AM, grabbed a number, and waited for a bit at a nearby church 😁 since the line moves pretty slowly... I ended up getting the results via email that same day at 11:39 AM.

Is it possible for a primary care physician to issue a referral for a full vitamin and mineral panel upon a patient's request, or is that something that must be handled through a private clinic?

Bumping this. Who actually has the authority to order blood work for vitamins, minerals, heavy metals, or a lactose intolerance test? And what does the actual testing process look like?

Is there a specific way I can check if I'm running low on certain vitamins, minerals, hormones, or whatever else might be missing from my system? 🍿

Not quite.
If you want to see what a CBC actually looks like, check this out: https://www.labcorp.com/tests

When it comes to things like vitamins, minerals, or hormones, doctors don't just bundle them into one big test—you have to get checked for each specific parameter individually. So, you’d order a test for Vitamin D, a separate one for B12, and then another specifically for thyroid hormones, and so on. It’s all handled on a case-by-case basis.

I’ve had a CBC done before and everything was fine.

But regarding those vitamins... can my primary care doctor actually order those tests, or do I have to go through a private clinic?
