I’m not even trying to lecture anyone on the whole "legend worthy of respect" thing. I truly mean that when I talk about him. As for White Stripes? I never respected them and I never liked them, so there's really no reason for me to start acting like a fan now.

I feel pretty bad about walking out on silvereagle132 like that. Hey mods, can you just delete this? I don't need my face turning red over it. Honestly, after the absolute nightmare of a day I had dealing with Mr. Rhythm, the last thing I needed was someone nitpicking the deposit amounts.

Thanks for being so damn perceptive... that’s all I ever wanted from you... I bought those tickets just so we could actually live out that whole musical and visual experience 😁

@žednouhi - alright, I agree you shouldn't insult a guy just because he had a bad show (wasn't my intention to do that). And I'm not complaining about wasting money on a ticket—for instance, I still kind of regret not catching that Nazareth concert in Chicago back in the mid-eighties. They played two songs, the singer collapsed on stage, roadies dragged him off, the rest of the band played two instrumentals, and then they just packed up. Sure, I would've been pissed and regretted the cash at the time, but long-term? It'd be a great story to tell.
As for a comeback, I'm still holding out hope that someone finds Danny Kirwan under some bridge in London, drags him into rehab, and gets him sober. (I know he's picked up a guitar a few times lately just for himself, but he's probably physically and mentally too broken for a real comeback. Still, why not hope?)

@Yo momma... - the more money someone has, the more they need. But I don't get the snide dismissal of the idea that The Rolling Stones actually LOVE and WANT to play (as if they have anything else to do with their lives). What I was reacting to in my last post was that post-punk hypocrisy: those labeled "dinosaurs" back in '77 really are dinosaurs, and we can mock punks who are still playing thirty years later with a bit of good-natured irony, but it's fine. It's great when bands like Pere Ubu or Buzzcocks come through, but the fact that we had shows by Eric Burdon or Jethro Tull just becomes fodder for jokes. Well, I enjoyed all four of their shows and I'm glad I did. 🙂
