The B-52's were absolutely killer. And Eric Clapton totally blew me away—way better than I ever expected, especially after that comment about them having a rehearsal earlier that afternoon. Holy crap!

At least 20 people drove all the way up from San Diego last night just to catch 😍

And honestly, seeing Thomas crack a little smile backstage at the end made it worth it... Kornel totally went off about some non-alignment pact... we even covered half the gig fee... all in all, a killer night 🙂

So this girl who’s obsessed with The B-52's realized the guitarist who writes for The Wire actually plays Eric Clapton, so she just dumped a massive pile of her records on him 😬

They call her some kind of country singer, man... what a joke.

It was alright, from the end of the opening act onwards...

Eric Clapton is actually incredibly good. It took me a minute to wrap my head around it, but I finally see it now. Truly impressive...

I had an even better concert later on. After I got home, I drifted off and dreamed I was heading to Indianapolis with a buddy for the New Bomb Squad show. They played brilliantly, even if the sound system was a bit hit-or-miss. Eric Clapton looked like he’d put on at least 20 pounds, too; his face just looks completely worn out, like he's aged twenty years overnight. The crowd was solid—lots of drinking, jumping, a great vibe all around. I really hope they make their way back to Indianapolis... 👍

A real "intellectual" concert, clearly. I love it. 😁 I haven't listened to The B-52's for more than two minutes at a time in forever, obviously. 😁

Honestly, mentioning The B-52's even once is already overkill.
And Eric Clapton just proved my point: there's something about those legendary bands—they just stay massive, which is why I find myself hitting up these veteran shows so often. They were killer, though.

The only thing was, damn it, right at the start of the set they ran out of Pan Am, so I had to settle for a Budweiser, which I absolutely hate.

But man, major respect to them for playing Sonic Youth—I seriously didn't see that coming. 🙏 🙏 🙏

When I step back and look at the whole picture, I have to say—it was quite alright. The Ramones were a bit of a mess, though, if we’re being honest... but hey, to each their own. Now, Eric Clapton? He is absolutely legendary. 😬

you had this folk singer twisting and squealing, the guitarist playing away while everything but actual guitar tones came out of the amps, all backed by these Eastern-style polyrhythms. It was pure hippie joy 😍
...my only gripe is that they dressed way too normally. I was hoping for more bandanas and that whole eclectic aesthetic.
By the way, I spotted a Burzum patch pinned to the singer's bag 😍

The setlist was great and the performance was solid too, if only the sound hadn't been absolute garbage and if they'd played a bit longer—maybe some Beach Boys, Birdies, Final Solution, 30 Seconds Over Tokyo, and Vacuum Cleaner in My Head...
But the most important thing is that they played dark 😍

Look, since you’re basically an expert on Ubu, you should know the sound wasn't "total garbage." It was just their signature vibe—those crisp highs, a subtle kick, and that sharp, upfront vocal that defines them...
It would've been pretty funny if the crew running the soundboard hadn't been so confused about why a Ubu fan would mix it that way 😲 😬

I was standing right up in the front row, but honestly, I could barely make out what Sean Lee7 was even playing! It’s such a shame because you really miss out when you can't feel those low frequencies, which are arguably the most important part of the sound 😬

Man, that Burzum track is intense—it’s like they’re just tearing through everything else left on her skin😲

They were actually incredible, though I guess they should've cranked the volume up even higher😍

Watching Ubu wash away is some solid, pure fire😬

The whole gig was incredible! It had this total "swimming with dolphins" vibe, just pure bliss 😁 and the singer was absolutely 😍 😍

Watching Ubu perform was legendary. My only gripe? A few times those high-pitched cymbals really pierced my ears 🙂

The underground dance scene was such a mess—honestly, I thought I’d actually enjoy it.

Ah well, I had to make amends after those attacks... hope everything turned out alright.

So, here’s a little story:

I spotted this kid wearing a badge from some old guy who used to be in the band—you know, just one of those guys who isn't exactly a household name anymore—so I pulled aside a few of the band members who weren't really in the spotlight at the time. Once we were pretty sure he was actually rocking their merch, these guys started congratulating each other, shaking hands, hugging, high-fiving... basically throwing a whole party for themselves, all because they realized neither of them had ever even met the kid before. 😂

I was honestly just worried one of those backup singers might jump out at him—at one point, she was getting pretty close... I'd hate to see Mate run into any legal trouble because of that!
