Second, I wouldn't even be listening to this band if it wasn't so late and there was nothing better on...

Third: just leave Reddit if you hate it so much...

Fourth: you're on an American forum, so maybe show some respect for that reality

Fifth: the national stuff isn't worth it, and if you're "Surprised and Uvregjen" you can always go find a forum in your own country where they won't pick on your nationality...

Sixth: go make an account on some forum in Mexico and tell them you're from somewhere else, then you'll see what real national insults look like...

Seventh: honestly, it's a miracle the moderators haven't banned you permanently yet...

Eighth: maybe it's about time we fix that point number 7 issue

Ninth: people would probably say: oh man, what a mess...

Tenth: stop lecturing us all about how "negative selection" is happening, because you're insulting everyone who actually stayed...

Eleventh: just act normal, communicate normally, and it won't matter if you're from here or Africa. Historically, there was even one guy who learned American and I actually enjoy reading his posts...

Anyway, once you've gone through all those points, let us know what you decided. For the good of the community, I really hope you choose option 3.

The sheer fact that you felt the need to remind me I'm on an American forum just proves you're nothing but a chauvinist.

And if I recall correctly, the rules here on Reddit prohibit that kind of stuff, so it honestly makes more sense that there's no room for you on Reddit, rather than for me, since I'm actually a decent person.

As for Psychology, it’s been moderated extremely lightly lately simply because I, as the only active moderator, haven't had the time—and that will likely continue for a little while longer. A specific issue with that subreddit, unfortunately, is that some users treat serious discussions like a casual half-troll zone, operating under the assumption that psychology is a topic one can (and should) discuss in a very superficial way. Generally, users from more high-brow subreddits, like other media and, somewhat, literature (though even there we've seen a trend toward democratization and trivialization—the logic being that the more you offer users, the higher the chance the discussion quality drops, and trying to suggest corrections often puts moderators in the position of appearing over-restrictive or even borderline fascist; this same pattern plays out on all "open" subreddits), tend to shy away from that approach. But as we can see, even they aren't entirely satisfied. And why aren't they? Or rather, why is there always someone dissatisfied, pointing fingers at certain PDFs because something bugged them—well, one could go on about this psychology topic for quite some time.

No, nobody is actually paying the moderators. In general, a subreddit is a mirror of both its mods and its users. It has never been clear to me why people who feel the need to make snarky comments about others' work don't demonstrate any sense of standard or restraint through their own contributions—for instance, by starting a high-quality, meaningful thread. Those capable of truly nailing a thread or a post on this site make up maybe one percent of the population—and they usually don't participate in these types of grievances. To me, that’s telling. They are my real compensation here.

You know, I have experienced this countless times myself. Eventually, I realized I had options: I can ignore the sudden intrusions from random trolls, I can occasionally respond just so I don't look foolish in their stead, I can fire back in kind because they deserve it (though I usually end up getting banned because I'm breaking the rules, which is fair, despite everything), or I can simply walk away. I have tried all of those approaches. Each method has its merits, but honestly, the best course of action is to simply ignore the trolls. Most reasonable users on any forum tend to ignore them while reading anyway, so there really is no need to let every little comment get under your skin.

Look at the flame wars, like that guy attacking you. This happens on Reddit every single day. These posts just sit there for days. A troll can hijack an entire thread, and the mods won't react until the next day—or even three or four days later—unless you practically beg them or tag them. And I don't get how a post like that doesn't get a red card immediately. It’s not like the topic was "Christian Taylor3 and our thoughts on him." Any post using primitive ad hominem attacks should be deleted instantly, and those users should get an express permaban. They destroy the thread.
The moderation here is incredibly sluggish.

I am protesting the shitty server; just read my previous posts in this thread. Twitter is a massive weapon, and that tweet regarding Anderlon was seen by thousands of people. I’m essentially risking Anderlon calling one of the admins and saying, "Hey, ban that little guy, he's giving me bad PR." Who else here would even dare to try something like that? The point is, I'm doing it decently, from the perspective of a user who is genuinely frustrated by this absolute lack of any decent customer service. That doesn't mean I'm protesting against the moderators. Apples and oranges, right?

Meanwhile, we've found out (publicly) that you're a former moderator whose only goal is to play the martyr: being unconstructive and unjustified in how you trash everything related to Reddit. (Well, right off the bat, I'm going to start complaining about... This.Immediate sanctions are required. To be clear, I've only taken down Vanja Sutlic and Hloverka so far. Hloverka and the Republican Party are just waiting patiently for their turn.).

Look at the flame wars, like that guy attacking you. This happens on Reddit every single day. These posts just sit there for days. A troll can hijack an entire thread, and the mods won't react until the next day—or even three or four days later—unless you practically beg them or tag them. And I don't get how a post like that doesn't get a red card immediately. It’s not like the topic was "Christian Taylor3 and our thoughts on him." Any post using primitive ad hominem attacks should be deleted instantly, and those users should get an express permaban. They destroy the thread.
The moderation here is incredibly sluggish.

There have always been users like this, and there always will be. Besides, stuff like this doesn't just hang around for days. It gets reported properly and sanctioned accordingly. Just use the report button. Expecting moderators to lurk in every single thread waiting for those little flame war "flyers" is ridiculous; these people have actual lives to lead. They’re also allowed to make mistakes—I'm not talking about admins here, just a one-time correction of a mod's error. To reiterate, they’re all volunteers here. And how do we show our appreciation? By starting threads like this and throwing everyone into the same bucket? 🤷

This really seems to be a matter of perception—sometimes the moderators feel overly omnipresent and biased with their warnings, and other times they seem totally absent, letting everything slide. It feels somewhat arbitrary. Anyway, I assumed from the fact that you brought up Psychology again that you were perhaps unhappy with how things were handled there, so I decided to take a look at your recent posts. I think I understand the situation now, but going forward, I would suggest two things: first, please try to read the entire thread carefully (and fairly), and second, respond appropriately to users who are clearly just trolling or being provocative. As a benchmark for how the Psychology section is moderated, you might want to check out this, and to see what a proper response to a provocateur looks like, you could read this. That’s my recommendation—just try to read through topics with good intentions and draw your conclusions about the moderation from there. It isn't particularly fair to drag the moderators through the mud based on examples like these—which are, I suspect, being interpreted half-heartedly—(not even mentioning the slowness in issuing sanctions, which, I should add, sometimes has very objective reasons behind it). I imagine it's clear to you that doing so reflects poorly on you as well. You actually started a whole thread about me after you received your warning—when I asked you to be more specific and take it to the formal appeals section, you just vanished. But the thread remained, existing on a vague, insulting level. That’s the issue; if we can't speak specifically, perhaps it's better not to waste our energy. In any case, observing your behavior across the subforums I moderate has led me to some conclusions that I will apply moving forward. No, nobody is actually paying the moderators. In general, a subreddit is a mirror of both its mods and its users. Those capable of truly nailing a thread or a post on this site make up maybe one percent of the population—and they usually don't participate in these types of grievances. To me, that’s telling. They are my real compensation here.

Meanwhile, we've found out (publicly) that you're a former moderator whose only goal is to play the martyr: being unconstructive and unjustified in how you trash everything related to Reddit. You're trashing fellow moderators who are just doing their jobs, the admins, the owner, the users... Every user has the right to criticize, but you do it in an unacceptable way. It's become your whole mission here. Don't do it, at least not like this.

As for dragging people into drama and being a dedicated party man, I can only paraphrase Frank Slade. And maybe learn how to communicate; you can't just straight-up insult people. For instance, on certain subreddits, off-topic chatter is allowed constantly, yet the second a troll jumps in and ruins a good thread, the entire topic gets nuked for being off-topic. That happened once—maybe more—in the religion section...

Not to mention how blatant trolling and garbage posts get zero attention, while some minor off-topic comment somehow earns points...
etc...

Then, recently, some flamewar starter or hidden provocateur starts rambling off-topic in the career thread, and nobody reacts all day. I couldn't even report it because it wasn't immediately clear what the hell the troll was trying to do.
Then, a few troll clones started insulting me and everything else under the sun related to me on that same thread.
Only after I made a scene and reported those N-rated posts did the mods finally clean up the trash... 🤷 (And of course, they handed out "points" to me along the way—presumably because I didn't engage in the flame war with the idiot troll fast enough)
Dammit, this means from now on, I have to take moderation duties upon myself for any thread I participate in just to deal with the endless garbage. ☕

Regular users don't have a way to deal with provocateurs, trolls, or radical idiots obsessed with bizarre fixations (and those people definitely need a response). The regular user always ends up losing the fight.
The mods should professionally shut down the fools. 👍
Take this, for example: a good mod is Endimion17. He basically has zero tolerance for idiots in his PDF. The guy and his crew enforce specific standards. I like that. Less nonsense means fewer idiots... both when reading and when writing.

You already started a thread about me after you got banned—when I asked you to be more specific and file a complaint in the Ban Appeals section, you vanished. But the thread stayed—just kept at a general level of being insulting.

I know, I couldn't be bothered, sorry. I didn't like your whole moderation concept over there.
