I really don't care to judge someone else's questionable taste in music
but then againβ€”if we aren't going to argue about what's actually good and what's just noise, what are we even doing here? 😬

Munch said:I mean, yeah, but if someone’s vibe is just way too different from mine, I honestly can't be bothered to talk to them. To me, you can tell a lot about a person's depth and openness through their music. So, fine... maybe I am a bit of a snob. 😎

Yeah, you definitely are. πŸ˜›
Is that why you don't even bother talking to me anymore? 😬 πŸ˜‰

I’ve been trying to tell anchio that for ages, but he just won't listen. 😁 πŸ˜‰

Hey there, anchio! πŸ‘‹

I have respect for anyone who’s out there doing the work.

True. Though, I must admit, I tend to offer my unsolicited critiques regarding other people's tastesβ€”especially when they are particularly egregious. Take a certain friend of mine, for instance. She finally moved on from her Tokio Hotel phase (ha!) and transitioned into something entirely different. When she actually sat me down to reveal her new rotation, I simply couldn't help myselfβ€”I burst out laughing. It was completely involuntary, really... which, predictably, left her quite offended. But what can one say? It seems she’s opted for music solely because it feels "edgy" or "cool." She’s listening to these intense, aggressive tracks nowβ€”things she wouldn't have even glanced at a year agoβ€”and the sheer suddenness of the shift was just... well, I lost it. I died laughing. I suppose I should probably learn some restraint and stop being so blunt...

I don't feel the need to respect someone else's lack of musical taste

To me, it all comes down to what resonates personally... if something hits the right note for me, then it’s good, but if others find joy in things that I simply can't connect with, why should I be bothered by their preferences?

If I actually respected the musical taste of the people I hang out with in real life, I wouldn't even be bothering with this forum 😬

Luckily, there are actually some folks here whose taste I (actually) vibe with πŸ‘

I actually respect good taste enough to keep my own music at a decent volume, so I'm not out here blasting my playlists for the whole block to hear😁
If only everyone else had that kind of decency instead of me having to listen to some idiot scrolling through trashy pop charts every single day...

The next time someone really pushes my buttonsβ€”I'm gonna let them take over the amp and those massive speakers my brother keeps in his garage: we’re listening to Sergei Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto.

Then we'll see who's actually got the better 😁

I have nothing but respect and tolerance for pretty much any genre of musicβ€”with one glaring exception. If someone starts blasting cheesy, over-the-top country ballads in my immediate vicinity, I lose my mind completely... <_<

Respectfully, I must say...
But my patience only lasts until someone else starts shoving their musical preferences down my throat, acting like I’m obligated to listen to whatever they’re pushing on me at that exact moment.πŸ™‚

Good grief, no wonder they call you guys the Borg! 😲

Look, I have respect. If I didn't, I’d be hanging out with bald, criminal-minded intellectual amoebas, twelve-year-old girls, or some menopausal grandmas with permed hair and old guys wearing those ridiculous flat caps.

So what's the harm in that? πŸ˜•

Not really. I don't respect anyone until they start forcing their music taste on me. I don't do that to people, and I certainly don't let them do it to me. There are only two genres I truly can't stand and have never tolerated: rap and country. That stuff is just unbearable...πŸ‘Ž

No, honestly, I actually love it when I get to tear into someone's music taste. All those punks, reggae heads, lifelong grunge kids, twenty-year-old hippies, ravers, techno geeks, even the hardcore hooligans and the folks blasting trashy pop... all those die-hard fans of the local minor league baseball teams... they're all just narrow-minded, tasteless hacks, I guess.

Sure... but only if it's exactly the same as mine! 😬
