Is it actually okay to chug 3 liters of milk a day without wrecking my health?

I read somewhere—somewhere online, anyway—that drinking too much milk can lead to liver cirrhosis. Is that even real? Am I totally overdoing it with my plan? Please, give me some actual arguments here, for God's sake.

I was reading up on some studies linking milk consumption to testicular cancer. Still, I find myself drinking at least a pint a day.

1 liter of milk at 3.2% fat content multiplied by three gives you 96 grams of fat🙂

As for my own habits, I typically have about half a liter of that low-fat 0.5% variety for breakfast every single morning. 😉 To be perfectly honest, I haven't the slightest clue what the ideal daily intake should be, or at what point it starts becoming excessive. I've always believed that one shouldn't overdo anything, really.

Three liters a day!?!?! 😲 😲

Honestly, just one glass of milk—ideally in the morning—is plenty. You could also just have a bowl of cereal for breakfast if you prefer. 🙂

You aren't even doing anything all day besides sipping on milk
😁 -> three liters??

I usually just have about a pint or so... then in the morning I'll knock down some cornflakes with milk..
That's basically a liter of milk total..

I haven't touched a drop of milk in at least a decade; prior to that, I might have had a single glass once a week... and honestly, I don't miss it one bit.

I read somewhere that drinking too much milk could actually cause liver cirrhosis... is there any truth to that? Am I going overboard with my plan to chug this stuff? Please, give me some actual arguments here, God knows I need them.

It’s not gonna cause cirrhosis unless you already have something going on that would trigger it, so yeah, go ahead and drink it. 96 grams of dairy fat? So what? Big deal...

I’d drink milk with only 0.9% fat—basically skimmed. Does anyone here actually know a decent nutritionist?

What’s the end game here? What are you actually trying to achieve? Pasteurized milk isn't even healthy to begin with—and you're thinking about drinking 3 liters of it every single day? Good grief...

Perhaps they are looking to cut back on their fat intake, in which case those massive quantities of milk could essentially serve as meal replacements. In my estimation, one might consider roughly one liter to be equivalent to a single meal.

I think I heard somewhere once that all those low-fat and light versions of food aren't actually healthy at all. If you really stop to think about it, why would anyone even bother making stuff like that? It’s just so people can eat way more of it while technically consuming less fat (or sugar, or calories, or whatever else they stripped out...)
I mean, don't even try telling me that skim milk—you know, the kind where they've processed everything out—is somehow better for you than whole milk! Now, on the other hand, back when I was still allowed to drink real dairy, I actually didn't care for straight-up farm milk because the taste and smell were just too intense for me, especially since I was so used to that watery 0.9% stuff. And no matter how much I try to convince myself—or maybe I'm just lying to myself at this point—that soy milk is perfectly fine, it just doesn't hold a candle to regular milk!
And then there's all those sugar-free desserts that are loaded with sweeteners—which, for the most part, are artificial and definitely not natural.
What's the point? It's just so people can shovel that junk into their bodies without feeling quite as guilty about it... 🙄

I used to do the exact same thing, but honestly, I'm done with it. 🙂 😬

So, why exactly is pasteurized milk considered unhealthy?
Do you actually know what pasteurization even is?

Look, you can drink milk just fine. Honestly, that link > dropped is total garbage. If you’re lactose intolerant, yeah, milk is going to mess with you, but for everyone else? It's totally fine. Also, just a heads-up: whenever you read some "health fact" online that sounds scary, most of the time it doesn't even apply here. Most of those studies and food standards are based on how things work in the USA, which is a whole different ballgame compared to what we deal with locally.

*I honestly don't know what they're trying to sell us with this modern guide—real milk is the stuff straight from the farm, freshly drawn and pure!
When I was just a kid, I’d head over to the neighbor's house every single evening for some milk; it was fresh, raw, and still warm... man, that was something else... I’d knock back two or three glasses right then and there, then finish off whatever was left the next morning... If that didn't kill me, I highly doubt this current guide will either... though, I have my doubts about how much actual value there is here compared to those childhood memories...

Anyone know a decent nutritionist worth talking to? I need someone who actually knows their stuff.

Cut the nonsense!!! Like everyone else has already pointed out, maybe go actually look up what pasteurization does to food...

You don't need some nutritionist breathing down your neck; you can drink three liters of milk a day if you want...

And after just one year of that milk treatment, he’ll end up allergic to every plant in the entire natural world...

Because milk, as everyone knows, comes from plants. Self-replicating plants.
