How do I upload an image?

How does one go about embedding an image from a local hard drive into a post? Furthermore, which specific file formats are supported by the system?

So you just upload it somewhere online and then drop the link right here.

I'm afraid I didn't quite follow your explanation. What does "uploading it somewhere on the web" actually entail? I'm a bit out of my element with all this technical jargon.

Imgur.com (just click the link to head over there)

• Once the page loads, look for the circled BROWSE button and give it a click. From there, you can hunt down the specific image you want to share on the forum. Once you’ve found it, select the file and hit UPLOAD (marked with an arrow)
  
  
• Just hang tight while the window updates. You'll see a thumbnail of your uploaded image (indicated by the arrow) along with four different snippets of code. Grab the one labeled IMG (circled), copy the whole thing, and paste it directly into your post.

• And that's pretty much it! Your image should now be visible in your post 🙂 (my own photo ended up looking tiny like this—it wasn't Imgur's fault, so I'd suggest resizing your images to about 500 or 600 pixels wide before you upload them)

I honestly don't get the distinction between the TAG and IMG commands.
Like, why would a blog require TAG while a forum uses IMG? What's the logic there?

It’s because blogs and forums handle things differently.

We're using Codecademy here, whereas a blog would use HTML tags.

As for the angle brackets:
CTRL + ALT + F = [
CTRL + ALT + G = ]

Charles Ramirez59, seriously, where do you pick up all these tricks? Did you just slowly soak it all up here on the forums, or are you working somewhere that actually requires serious tech skills? Like, did you hit up some intensive bootcamps, grind through a CS degree, or what? I don't even know, man. There are so many little nuances and hacks that I can't just figure them out using common sense alone—I feel like I’m constantly having to ask questions like I'm totally clueless.😢

Most of what I know was picked up along the way, largely through a healthy dose of trial and error 🙂

If I spot something interesting and can't figure out how someone pulled it off—like on a forum—I'll just quote them to see the underlying code 👍
