British vs. American punk?

This is the thread, though it’s been quite a while since it was started...

Americans have Hardcore, while the guys in the UK have Oi!

The Ramones are pure rock n' roll. You stinking punks can just get lost. 😳

Honestly, there are just so many killer bands out there right now that you can't even tell where they're from anymore... take the Dropkick Murphys, for instance. They're from Boston and they play some absolutely insane Street Punk... then you've got Snuff from the USA, who crank out this melodic Hardcore that would honestly make even Good Riddance look bad...

It’s kind of like when you were a kid and someone asked if you loved your mom or your dad more...
But for me, I’ve even got a soft spot for Miteserse🙂

I've always had a bit more of a preference for the American style

I feel exactly the same way. I've never really been a fan of street punk; I much prefer hardcore.

The Ramones are sweet. I dig both bands, but not enough to say I'm really deep into the scene or anything. For me, the Pistols take the cake, mostly just because of how Lydon rolls those R's.

The Ramones anthology booklet has this one shot of them hanging out with the Clashovacs—it was taken during their 1976 tour over in the UK. You can totally tell who was trying to suck up to whom first 😬

I just hope there aren't any Germans in the mix 🙏

They seriously have a knack for totally ruining the music—unless it's their own homegrown stuff ☕

Why does everyone keep obsessing over those old fossils? 😕
They keep bringing up --> The Briefs, Epoxies, Manic Hispanic (basically an ironic mashup of the old Adolescents, Grabbers and Cadillac Tramps energy in a new band😁), The Prostitutes, The Generators, The Fumes, and even Candy Snatchers (fine, they're veterans too)... Honestly, the Germans are putting out more heat right now than the English—assuming you consider the current scene dominated by Deadline and their slimy imitators. It’s a church of false confidence, though Dean Dirg is actually solid...

Because those "old fossils" are the ones who actually invented punk—it’s been passed down through the generations, and thank God it finally reached you kids too. 😍

I don't get why everyone only ever talks about American or British acts. There’s plenty of great music coming out of Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, and a bunch of other places too...😕
