I did some digging into the zone diet and it looks great on paper, but I’m worried most people can't actually pull it off. For example, I only cook at home maybe four times a week; the rest of the time I'm stuck relying on bakeries or the college cafeteria, and you really can't put together a meal there that fits the zone guidelines—even if you take them super "liberally." It's easy to call someone an idiot when you have no clue what their daily grind actually looks like.
Sears messed up by not making the recipes simpler,
like any classic diet would, but that's why you gotta learn how to eat, since it isn't even a diet.
People love mindless dieting, but eating with actual knowledge and logic isn't "in" right now.
I eat out all the time too—sandwiches, pizza, whatever. But even that works within the zone if, say, you ditch the top bun on a sandwich
or leave the crust on the pizza
and skip the Coke, beer, or wine for some sparkling water.
