The show seems pretty intriguing so far! I’ve only actually made it through episode 4β€”I ended up missing those first three due to a whole mess of circumstances, which was such a bummer. Even though I'm still a bit lost on what's actually going down, the concept itself is super interesting. Does that main guy have some kind of supernatural powers or something? Man, I really wish I hadn't missed the beginning.

This series is absolutely phenomenal... seriously, it’s right up my alley. Finally, some actual substance on TV instead of those 666 trashy soap operas they run 12 hours a day. Just total garbage.πŸ‘

The series is phenomenal.
It's finally Friday. Heh.

Didn't that preacher play Kurgan in Highlander?

I'm listing everything casualotter21 has written...

In the USA, they just pulled the plug on this series right after the second season because the ratings were trash.

Figures. πŸ™„

Americans could really benefit from having a public broadcaster like the BBC that actually requires a subscription. It might stop producers from chasing ratings like a bunch of drunks looking for a fight.

I actually think this series is great. However, it’s starting to feel a bit tedious because there hasn't been any real progression or action for several episodes now; nothing is happening. Yesterday's installment was a complete disappointment. I understand the plot is meant to unfold gradually, but does it really have to be this slow? They could afford to pick up the pace. I'm left wondering if they will finally explain what happened with the Scuderi, or how the kid and the preacher are connected beyond the obvious dynamic of a young hero versus a priest villain. Plus, everyone seems obsessed with the boyβ€”Sophie's mother, the administration, Blinking...

I could honestly eat myself alive because I only realized this series was airing this past Friday...
😁Why didn't anyone tell me it was this good sooner?

Nobody mentioned how great the cinematography is, either. It deserves some serious credit.

Honestly, though, it’s starting to feel a bit tedious because nothing much has changed for several episodesβ€”zero action, zero momentum, just nothing happening. Yesterday’s episode was a complete letdown. I get that everything is meant to unfold gradually, but does it really have to be this agonizingly slow? They could probably afford to pick up the pace a little. I wonder if we'll eventually figure out what happened with the Scuderi family, or how the kid and the preacher are linked beyond the obvious "kid is the hero, preacher is the villain" trope. And then there's the mystery of why everyone is obsessed with the boyβ€”Sophie's mother, the administration, Blinking...

Agreed, the pacing is definitely sluggish. We pick up tiny crumbs of information every episode, but it's all moving at a snail's pace. I'm still willing to stick with it for now, but we'll see if it stays worth the wait...

I'm not so sure we can just label Kurgan and the kid as "villain" and "hero."
It doesn't feel like Kurgan is really a villain.
But he's definitely as stubborn as a mule.

casualotter21:
We learn a little more every episode, but man, it is slow.

Well... we finally heard from the board in the last episode.
Bit by bit, I guess.....

Honestly, the series is absolutely fantastic. πŸ‘

Brian Williams is just being a pretentious little intellectual snob, if you ask me. πŸ™‚

And Paul Mendoza? Total poser trying way too hard to be edgy. πŸ™‚

That’s pretty much all I have to say about it. 😎

I caught a single episodeβ€”maybe even just the very first oneβ€”and then I haven't touched it since. 😒 Honestly, I thought it was quite brilliant. I simply lost track of it, and by the time I thought about watching again, so many episodes had slipped by that I felt too far behind to bother jumping back in. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they might run some reruns during the summer schedule.

It looks like they won't be filming any more of Carnival in the USA. I think we still have to wait for the second season to air over here, assuming they even finished shooting it.
It’s such a bummer because the writers were hinting that they really wanted to kick the actual plot into high gear after things settled down a bit. Now, we might never truly know what kind of story they were actually planning to tell us.😒

I believe there are two seasons, though I'm far too lazy to actually check IMDb. It’s quite compelling so far, especially now that the plot is starting to intertwine; you see how Lodz and Samson are polar opposites within the Carnival, both vying for the attention of young Hawkins. Lodz is undeniably creepy, though there's little guarantee that Samson is any better. Meanwhile, brother Justin seems to have escaped the asylum only to pen his own manifesto. I suspect he'll soon pivot to that classic populist rhetoric used by every effective dictator. Truly fascinating stuff. πŸ™‚
It’s a shame, really; the writers did claim they intended to actually get the plot moving only after some time had passed.

I suppose I finally understand why they pulled the plug on the series. 😬

In just two weeks, summer schedules kick in, and instead of watching CSI: Miami in my rearview mirror! πŸ‘‹

Oh boy. Law and order. My only real problem is that I actually have to study for exams, and I can't exactly see myself staying awake past 1:00 AM. 😒

Just grab a deviceβ€”a VCRβ€”load a tape, set the timer, and hit record...! Voila! A total miracle of modern technology! πŸ‘‹

😬

Now I’m stuck manually programming the VCR to start recording about thirty minutes before the show airs, all while praying I have enough tape left to capture an hour AFTER the broadcast ends. Apparently, PBS and timers just don't play nice together.

I know right... there's nothing we can do about it, really... πŸ™„ 😁 😁

Since we're on the subject, anyone else planning on watching the news tonight? 😁 😁
