The best Trip Hop tracks?

Anyone listening? I mean, if anyone out there actually has good taste, maybe you could drop some solid recommendations my way... Right now, I'm downloading Lamb, and honestly, it’s killing it...

What else do you actually need when you've got Portishead, Massive Attack, Leftfield, and Faithless? In my opinion, they pretty much encapsulate the absolute best the genre ever produced...

Funki Porcini, DJ CAM, Cujo, Sharpshooters, up Bustle & out, Depth Charge...

Leftfield and Faithless have absolutely nothing to do with trip hop.

Personally, I’d say Portishead and Massive Attack are the gold standard... okay, maybe Tricky too... but I like to dig a little deeper—Lamb and Goldfrapp are right up my alley and stuff...
but as for Leftfield and Faithless? I'm really not so sure about them??

You really need to track down some Depth Charge; they have a depth and intensity that others simply lack. As for Faightless and Leftfield? I’ve always viewed trip hop as nothing more than lightweight music built on heavy beats—it feels like watching a helicopter struggle to take off in slow motion, just spinning its blades without ever actually leaving the ground. 😁😁

Oh man... I just love trip-hop.

I mean, obviously Massive Attack is basically the blueprint, but Lamb is also incredible, along with Portishead and Leftfield👍, plus Tricky (and all of his collaborations 😁)...

I find Tricky to be totally bizarre, and honestly, those collaborations he did with Red Hot Chili Peppers are a bit much for me to stomach

I haven't checked that specific stuff out, but his debut "maxinquaye" is an absolute masterpiece... plus, back when he was touring with Massive Attack at the start of it all, the guy was a total legend.

If you look past the mainstream superstars, there's plenty of interesting stuff out there.
Like Thomas Diaz6 mentioned... Howie b - Switch.
For instance, the crew over at Pork Records... Bullitnuts, Baby Mammoth...
Then you have the jazzy vibes from filati Brazillia, though they drift through genres quite a bit.
Or the minimalist approach of Funki Porcini.
And Markus Kienzl—better known as the bassist for sofa Sufers—who puts out some fantastic solo work.
Even a Forest Mighty Black released a phenomenal trip-hoppy album, Mellowdramatic no, via Compost.

Anyway... regardless...
The ultimate trip-hop anthem has to be "high Noon" by Kruder and Dorfmeister.
That one track tells you everything you need to know about who's actually good.

I said it was trip hop-ish! Pretty much! At any rate, it’s way closer to trip hop than anything from Fila Brazillia! 😉
