If you’re heading into a public hospital for a standard room—not a private suite—you basically need everything 🙂

Pack some flip-flops for the showers. You don't want to be walking around barefoot in there.😉

Hey everyone, does anyone happen to have the phone number for the dermatology clinic over at the East Community Health Center on 34 Slavnoska St? I need to call them to get an appointment scheduled.🙂

Here's what I found. You really ought to try searching Google a bit more often! 😉

Got a few stupid questions. It's been a while since I've had bloodwork done, so I was wondering—do I definitely have to go on an empty stomach? Also, what time do they usually wrap up blood draws at the East Community Health Center? I need to get my strep and staph titers, CRP, and L.

They’re open from 7:00 to 9:00 in the morning.

You don't need to fast.
But honestly, I doubt the East Community Health Center even offers those specific tests—unless it's just the L (which is basically a CBC) or the CRP, and even then, you'd probably have to pay extra for them.

Apologies in advance if someone beat me to this, but does anyone have a ballpark idea of what an orthopedic consultation would run me at a public hospital if I don't have supplemental insurance?

Thanks for the tip, just seeing this now... though, I gotta admit, both the room and the bathroom were spotless. They clearly cleaned everything daily and kept the whole place super tidy. 🙂

Which hospital are we talking about? Feel free to give them some credit if they're actually good. 😉

Hey man (ENT)...every single morning this girl comes by, clears everything out, and takes the trash out. Plus, she stops by one afternoon to grab the garbage again and maybe drop off some paperwork if needed 🙂

The girl even went as far as picking up slippers off the floor while she was mopping...

Is the department located in the new building? The green one?

The exam area is right over there... in the first building, just above the ER, you'll find the surgical ENT 🙂unit

Does anyone know where I can find a price list for exams at a major hospital like Johns Hopkins?
I really need to figure out what hormone testing costs. I don't have supplemental insurance right now, and since I've been unemployed since November, paying for extra coverage just isn't in the budget—not that there's any way to bridge the gap without it... thanks in advance...

I was wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown on how the process works for seeing a specialist these days? I assume I need a referral from my primary care doctor first, but what happens after that?
Do I get to pick which specialist I see by name, or is it more random?
It's been years since I've had to deal with anything through insurance, so I'm honestly a bit out of the loop here.😳

You can either get a referral from your primary care physician and book an appointment with a specific doctor, or just request a specialist and take whatever first available slot they throw at you. If you don't have a preferred provider? Just blast an email to everyone in that specialty and see who bites first—or, if you're feeling impatient, just show up in person.

So, does that mean I actually get to pick a specific doctor? Like, can I choose anyone at any hospital in any city, or how does that work?
I’m looking specifically for a dermatologist and an orthopedist—it would be great if I could hand-pick them if that's an option.
