I’ve got a referral for thyroid blood work
I emailed the scheduling department at Vinogradska Hospital today
and they gave me an appointment for April 26th🙄
I checked with a private lab and they want $80
but I just don't have that kind of money to burn
Does anyone know if the wait times are shorter at any other hospital?
Any ideas?

So, I finally sent off that email to the central ordering department over at Vinogradska Hospital today.
I've been put on the schedule for April 26th.🙄
So, I went ahead and checked with one of those private labs to see what they’d charge me... $80
And all I've got left is zero damn love.
Does anyone actually know if the wait times are any better at other hospitals? Or is this just how it is everywhere now?
Anyone got any ideas?

If you need thyroid hormone tests done... you can just head over to St. Spirit Hospital. You don't even need an appointment if you show up during the afternoon shift. If you get there then, you'll have your results by Friday of that same week. Otherwise, if you go any other time, you're looking at waiting until next Friday to get your results. Total drag.
So, you basically just show up at the hospital entrance, and then the blood lab is sitting right there directly across the street. That’s it. Simple as that.

Just show up at the hospital entrance, and there’s a lab right across the street where you can get your blood drawn.

Thanks a ton.

I wasn't really sure where to drop this question, so I figured I'd just post it here. I need to get a CT scan done because of my Raynaud's. Does anyone know what that's actually like? Like, how long does the whole thing usually take?? Thanks in advance! :

Does anyone happen to know where I can get an echocardiogram done the fastest in Washington, D.C. using a referral? thanks

It’s likely your primary care physician or a doctor who can actually check the schedule on their computer. Your other option is to just reach out to everyone directly and see what they have to say. Unless someone on this forum happens to be psychic, I have no idea how anyone could give you a straight answer to 🙂. Pure guesswork at this point—my guess? It might be a fractured rib 🙂

I actually managed to snag an appointment at the Heart Center on Draškovićev relatively quickly last year, 🙂 so maybe give them a call and see what they say🙂

Hi, does anyone know what the out-of-pocket cost is for testing external hormones and thyroid levels with a referral, say at Mayo Clinic?

They told me I have to clear an initial screening with one of their own doctors first.

Gary Ward14 said:Hi everyone, does anyone happen to know how much it costs to get my reproductive hormones and thyroid levels checked out without supplemental insurance if I have a referral, say, at a major hospital like Mayo Clinic?

I had my thyroid levels tested over at Mount Sinai. It felt like it was about $17. I can't recall the exact figure... It’s entirely possible the price jumps if you're adding reproductive hormones to the mix.
I don't think there's going to be a massive difference in cost at other hospitals. Your best bet is to just give Mayo Clinic a call and ask them directly.

Try the clinic over on 42nd Street... call 555-0199... they take appointments from 7-9 AM and then again from 5-7 PM... it used to be an old municipal building or something

Hey, I know this has probably been asked before, but instead of scrolling through 43 pages of old posts, I’d appreciate it if someone could just give me a quick answer. Has anyone here actually tried emailing Johns Hopkins Hospital to schedule something? If so, how long does it usually take to hear back? Thanks ahead of time. 😉

Hey 🙂

I might be totally off-topic here, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.🤷

I’m a student here in Chicago, but I don't have a primary care doctor set up yet. Does anyone know where I can go for an exam if I'm not already an established patient at 🤷 Mount Sinai Hospital? 🤷

It's nothing life-threatening, just this super short-lived flu that left me with some annoying bronchitis and a cough that won't quit. I really need to see a doctor to get something more effective than just tea and honey, I'm just not sure where I can actually go.🤷

Thanks🙂

I’ve been trying to schedule a gastroenterology appointment for my mother for over a week now, but I can't get anyone to respond. I keep sending follow-up messages, but it's just radio silence.
Of course, nobody picks up the phone either.🙂
Is there any way to book an appointment without showing up in person? That isn't really an option for us right now...

How am I supposed to book anything if we can't go there in person? That's just not convenient for us...

Hmm, they actually call me back. I haven't tried emailing them yet, though. Which number are you calling? Usually, they handle orders between 1:00 and 2:00 PM, so you might have better luck then.

Man, we were sitting around just waiting on an answer for four whole days...

Daniel Cooper40 said:I haven't really checked my inbox yet since they usually just give me a ring, but I haven't tried reaching out via email quite yet. Which number are you dialing? Most of their orders tend to roll in between 1:00 and 2:00 PM, so if you want any chance of catching them, that’s probably your best window to try.

I swear, I’ve tried calling their info lines so many times, but I can never actually get anyone to pick up. It’s like they just don't exist. Even when I try reaching out in the middle of the night, the lines are always busy or just ringing out indefinitely.

Then it looks like they switched up the whole procedure on us... I was seeing Dr. Despot over at Mayo Clinic -.- She recommended an ultrasound, so I booked it, only to end up waiting a month and a half just to get seen.🙂

Personally, I usually get an email response within a day or two... especially when I’m ordering through the main office at bojcen@johns-hopkins-hospital.org ...just as an example, I sent over a referral for an ultrasound yesterday around 6 PM, and the response hit my inbox this morning by 8 AM.😉
