🙂 , hey there!

So, I’ve got this issue—might sound a bit weird for someone my age. I’m 21, and I’m pretty sure I’m well past puberty. I mean, my voice cracked back when I was like 12, so yeah, I’m making a safe ASSUMPTION here.

The thing is, my voice keeps shifting on me. It’s constant—changes in color, tone, pitch... all of it. Sometimes it just trembles, and there are moments where it honestly feels like I’m not even the one talking—like someone else is just using my mouth to make noise.

Is this happening because I'm having some sort of "out-of-body" moment? Am I just totally drained of energy, or maybe just losing focus? I wonder if it could be tied to some kind of psychological thing, though when these shifts happen, I don't really feel like I'm experiencing any actual mental breakdown or anything like that...

If I were in your shoes, I’d start by booking an appointment with a gastroenterologist to get your vocal cords checked out.
Just to be safe and make sure there isn't anything else going on under the surface, like some kind of polyp or something similar.

Polyps or something else???????

Does anyone know any good vocal exercises? I feel like my voice is undergoing some kind of weird shift—it just doesn't sound like "me" anymore. Now, look, I’ve been diagnosed with a mental health condition and I'm on medication for it, so maybe there's a connection there... but I'm just not buying it. That said, it's not like I've totally lost my mind or my grip on reality during this voice change—that's definitely not it. I mean, in those specific moments when the voice shifts, I do feel incredibly weak and sort of... foggy? Like my brain is stuck in a cloud or something. Any ideas?

Look, I’m no doctor, but I’ve spent enough time being a patient to know how this works.
It really bugs me when people just toss out some psychological excuse for symptoms that don't make sense; isn't that just the easiest way out when nobody can pin down a real diagnosis?
Your vocal cords are incredibly delicate instruments. Even the tiniest little imperfection can completely alter your voice, usually making it sound deeper or raspy. Since a quick exam of the vocal cords is actually pretty straightforward—even if it is a bit uncomfortable—I’d say if I were you, I’d rule out any physical issues there first. They just spray a little mist in your throat, you stick your tongue out, and you have to yell Iiii, which ends up sounding more like eee, and that's it.
I don't want to freak you out, but years ago, some "expert" told me my issues were all in my head, only for it to turn out to be a very real thyroid tumor.
There are about seven red flags for potential throat issues, including hoarseness or changes in your voice and a persistent cough.
And if you happen to feel "off" or foggy at the exact moment your voice shifts, couldn't that just be a subconscious reaction to the discomfort of your voice changing? It’s a total catch-22.
Someone might call me out for playing amateur doctor here, but...😁

It’s true—any time your voice changes color or you're dealing with hoarseness that lasts more than a few days, you really ought to go see an ENT...

I’ve been wondering—is screaming your lungs out at a big game actually bad for you, or is it basically just intense vocal training for building a stronger voice?

Well, obviously—it’s not exactly great for your voice.😬

Is there any way to change my voice color? Mine sounds incredibly raspy and unpleasant...

Sure, if you go under the knife for vocal cord surgery.☕

First off, you really ought to rule out any underlying medical issues within your respiratory system that might be causing that raspiness. If there's an actual health issue at play, you need to address that first. Beyond that, I'm not aware of any standard procedure for changing your voice... (messing with the vocal cords is risky business; you could easily make the situation much worse)

So, I was out this past Friday and the music was just—honestly, it was deafening. Like, I practically had to scream at the top of my lungs just to be heard over the bass... and now? Today feels even worse than yesterday. I’ve been stuck whispering all day because my voice is just completely shot. Does anyone have any quick fixes to get my voice back ASAP? Thinking maybe some herbal tea or a massive spoonful of honey might help?
thanks

I’m currently flying solo without it, too. Honestly, if I just talk a little more than usual, it seems to bail on me already.
It’s been four days now since I last had any, and I am losing my mind...
Nothing seems to work.

I found myself completely losing my voice this week due to a nasty sore throat. Before I decided to head to the doctor to ask for antibiotics, I tried using BronchiMed, which actually provided quite a bit of relief, so I’d certainly suggest giving it a shot if you're in a similar boat...

Honestly, you might want to look into some calcium... any kind, really. Just grab some standard pills or those fizzy tablets that dissolve in water—doesn't matter much to me. But seriously, calcium is the real MVP when it comes to this stuff, so give it a shot.😉

Whether you opt for standard tablets or those effervescent fizzing ones—it doesn't particularly matter to me—just get some into your system. When it comes to this specific issue, calcium is king. Seriously, give it a shot.😉

I couldn't agree more—Pfizer’s 1000 BC effervescent tablets are easily my top choice. I've relied on them countless times, and they never fail to do the trick. It's a tried and true staple in my routine.

Honey has been my absolute go-to whenever I'm feeling under the weather, especially when I take it on an empty stomach 🙂

Alright, now I’m curious too—how exactly does calcium affect the vocal cords?
