Man, seriously, what a freaking legend 😏
I couldn't even catch my breath during the whole show; the guy is absolutely insane. If you weren't there, you won't get it—and honestly, you probably wouldn't get it either if you were taking him too seriously.
The dude played like three different tones the entire night 👏 🙂

Fripp kicked things off first. I didn't catch the very beginning, but from what I saw... it was pretty wild. Then Vai came on, then Joe, then the whole JAM session with all three!!

I'm pretty sure Fripp actually played way more than just three tones. 😁
Joe was way better than I expected—total showman, high energy, absolutely insane.
Vai seemed like he wasn't entirely feeling it, but even the scraps he tossed through his guitar were enough to leave the biggest impression on me.
After four hours, nobody was even thinking about an encore.

Seriously, he even gave this big, happy grin 😁 when the crowd started lighting up their phones during "always with you..." Man, that audience was incredible. Everyone was singing along to the melodies on certain tracks—there was just this pure, magic chemistry in the room for a second there. 🙂

Back last year, we already heard rumors about the new Vai-ev album titled Real Illusions. It’s a concept album split into three parts, with different release dates for each. The first installment drops on February 22nd under the subtitle Reflections. This marks the first official Vai-ev release after nearly five years of stepping back and focusing on touring...

Regarding the vibe, Vai tried to sum up Real Illusions : Reflections in just a few words:
"Reflections is The First part of a multi-layered menagerie of vignettes based on The amplified mental exaggerations of a truth-seeking madman who sees the world... oh never mind.”

Anyway, I picked up the album yesterday: I can tell you right now, it’s absolutely insane. As soon as I heard "Building The Church," I was left 😲
Regarding the production, the sound is incredibly modern—honestly, the best sonic quality I've heard on any rock album in years. Maybe he could have sprinkled some of those Stratocaster tones from Jemo (his kid) here and there to round it out. The guitar synths used throughout are top-tier. "Firewall" feels like a classic track from the "Flex-able" era, just executed with much better production and musicianship this time around. "lotus Feet" is an incredible instrumental backed by an orchestra; the sound is phenomenal! Then there's "Freak show Excess," which lives up to its name: a total OVERKILL. Just a pure instrumental marvel. The whole album follows a narrative suggested by the cover, weaving the songs and events together to turn Reflections into a cohesive experience... This is a quintessential vaievski album—pretty complex and a "heavy" listen, but with a killer sound and brilliant instrumental sections. In my book, it's worth every cent and sets the definitive standard for what a modern rock album should sound like. Highly progressive and deeply impressive...

Is he the guy who filled in for Zelet Lipovača in Whitesnake? 😁 😁 😁

He played with Whitesnake, but this stuff about Zeleta 😁 is news to me.

For a brief moment back in the day, Zeleta spun this long, rather unappealing yarn about the British breakthrough of the Wild Strawberrys.

Steve is incredible, seriously. Though, I’m definitely the type who needs to see guitarists like him live or on a DVD to really get it. I caught a show at the Madison Square Garden and it was absolutely insane! He might be the best on the planet right now, but I still lean toward Petrucco. Honestly, it feels a bit pointless to argue about who’s better since they’re both absolute legends! Maybe I just have a soft spot for Petrucco because I listen to Dream and his style hits different for me. Either way, VAI ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

And for anyone out there claiming Vai lacks melody, do yourself a favor and go listen to For the Love of god , Answers, Rescue me or bury me, and plenty of the other tracks already mentioned here.

Honestly, Steve Vai stands out as my absolute favorite right alongside Eddie van Halen, and when you really start blending those kinds of raw talent and musicality together, you just get something incredible because a true master is a true master, so here are a few videos for you to check out.
