Does anyone happen to have any fresh updates on this...? Does anyone know who’s actually heading up the organization—is it some major promoter or a local group? And more importantly... where can one go to actually secure tickets?

Has anyone caught that new piece over on Pitchfork? They’re basically confirming a lineup for some festival up in Sweden, supposedly happening around June 18th or 20th. Honestly, folks, let’s keep our guard up and stay skeptical until we see actual proof! 😁

The festival runs from June 17th through the 19th.

I need to get my tickets ready... seriously though, can someone please drop some insider info on where to snag them and when they go on sale? I need to know exactly when I should request time off work and which spot I should set up camp at....

Look, folks, you guys are seriously delusional about the country we live in. Aside from a handful of us who think they’re one of the greatest bands to ever exist, nobody in America has ever heard of them, let alone cares. You can try to grab tickets all you want—it won't matter.
The reality is they sold out their New York City show in fifteen minutes flat. But what does New York have to do with us? Over there, the Pixies are a massive deal, whereas here, people are still obsessed with Thompson and Colony. And as for our neighbors in Canada, our touring circuit has been living off them for years. People used to flock over just to see Magazin, Stavros, and the rest of the crowd. So now you think you actually need to camp out for this? Don't be naive.

shadowmarlin15, this Pixies show is going to get media coverage. There’s already an article about them in the morning papers. And if the media manages to convince people to line up for "Surfer Rosa," they’ll convince them to go see the Pixies too. Someone will read something about the concert, decide it looks cool, realize they have some extra cash lying around, and just go. It’s not going to be just the die-hard fans showing up.

It’d be pretty awesome if things worked exactly the way you wanted them to—just endless tickets available...
But you might want to consider that since this is basically the closest show for this part of the world, it’s not like everyone is just coming from right here in the States.
What about the people from Mexico, Canada, or even down in South America?

😂 Maybe I am being naive (but hey, don't you dare judge me!), because honestly, us mere mortals living out in the suburbs always run into these same headaches whenever we try to snag concert tickets...

That’s exactly how they hyped up the Queens of the Stone Age show—claiming tickets would be impossible to find. I was actually panicking. I managed to snag mine, only to see people selling them by the bucketload outside the venue. Typical. Now, someone will inevitably point out that QOTSA and the Pixies aren't the same thing. Well, yeah. For me, the Pixies are better, but back then, QOTSA had a fresh album and a bunch of singles constantly blasting on the radio and TV. My ticket cost $43 (if I remember right, maybe even less), while the Pixies are supposedly going to set you back $60. At that price, you might as well buy a luxury cruise $10 and get a free newspaper included.
Believe me, the Pixies are pretty obscure to most people. A coworker recently asked me this incredibly profound question: "Have you ever heard of the Pixies?" I kid you not. I ended up lending him Doolittle and Bossa Nova (Surfer Rosa is on there too, though that one is a tough sell). He told me he thinks the Monkeys are great, and the rest was "pretty decent."
As for those Austrians and Digić, they'll probably just watch the Pixies perform on their own turf.
Look, I don't want to overdo it. You obviously need to make sure you get tickets, but all this talk about tents and endless lines is just nonsense.

So, they're hitting up a festival in Vienna, and then there's one in Bologna, Italy—basically the same setup.
I'm really hoping there won't be any nightmare scenarios with ticket availability, though I'd definitely love to snag mine early just to be safe.

Yeah, sure, why not just buy a million tickets...
I basically caused a massive panic in my friend group thinking tickets were arriving on March 30th—totally missed the part where someone mentioned they were just leaving the printer
So my friend heads out with a whole delegation to Target to grab a ticket, figuring the rest of them can just go pick up a million more later that same day
And the clerk tells her the tickets aren't actually coming until May 1st (!!) but suggests she double-check anyway
Apparently, there's a total shipment of 170 tickets for the entire US (?!)
I personally know about 15 or 20 people who want to go
And none of them are even from this forum
Plus, we've got a decent little crowd here too
And look, I'm sure there are some clueless folks out there, but I wouldn't go as far as saying the whole damn country is just one big group of idiots

But whatever, if nothing else works out, I'll just make a quick trip to Austin one day to grab my ticket

By "ever," I’m really just talking about this last decade.
I don't think so. It feels more like a total takeover by mainstream "folk" and that somewhat bland pop sound.
