Got some blood in my urine—RBC count is sitting at 10-20
-White cell count is also 10-20
-Plus a bunch of epithelial cells, mucus, and bacteria

I know the blood might mean something is up with my kidneys or whatever, but I’m only 17 and I don't have any pain in that area.
All I’ve got is this fever that’s been hanging around for 4 days now..

Can someone walk me through this? Like, is this actually a problem or what?

-Thanks a lot.

I've just had a fever for 4 days now...

Can someone explain if this is actually a problem?

-thanks so much.

That blood could just be from being near your period and getting "those" things. It happened to me once, and now I always have to do a urine test right in the middle of my cycle.

That just tells me you've got an infection—could be your bladder, kidneys, or somewhere in the urinary tract. You'll likely get prescribed some antibiotics, and then things should settle down.

Why did you even bother with the urinalysis in the first place? I assume you were feeling off? If this was just about your period, we'd only see erythrocytes, but the presence of leukocytes and bacteria makes it pretty obvious there's inflammation going on. There's no mistaking it.

Went in for bloodwork and a urine sample because I’m feeling pretty rough.
Been running a fever since Friday—it won't quit, just keeps bouncing up and down—so the doctor sent me in for testing.
Just the fever and this massive fatigue.
No sore throat or anything else, really...

It’s hard to give you a definitive answer without more context...

What does your complete blood count look like? I work in a lab for a living, and based on how you described those results, I’d suspect some kind of urinary tract infection. Usually, though, that comes with a pretty miserable set of symptoms—you know the drill, if it’s your bladder, it burns like hell, or if it hits the kidneys, the pain is intense. Honestly, there isn't much I can tell you that will help without a doctor getting involved.

I mean, look, 🙂
I went to see my doctor and she took one look at my labs and basically said they weren't anything to write home about... mentioned something about a UTI or whatever—but honestly, everything feels fine on that front. I’m not having any issues there; it’s just this fever, the exhaustion, and my entire body aching—which, let's be real, is just the fever doing its thing.
And my blood work... yeah, that's pretty rough too. Plus, I'm dealing with anemia on top of it all.
Do you need any specific details from the blood work?

And thanks a ton, 😁

I already saw my doctor and she took a look at the labs. She didn't say anything groundbreaking, honestly... just mentioned something about a urinary tract infection or whatever. But the thing is, everything feels totally fine down there—I don't have any issues with that part of things. It's just this fever, the exhaustion, and my whole body aching, but that's obviously just from the fever.
And my blood work is pretty rough too. Oh, and I'm dealing with anemia on top of it all.

Anyway, thanks a ton. 😁

Alright, well, did she give you a referral for a urine culture?
It is glaringly obvious that we're looking at a bacterial infection here, and you need to start treatment with the right antibiotic ASAP—specifically the one the bacteria is most sensitive to, which you can only figure out through an antibiogram. You don't necessarily have to feel symptoms in your bladder for an infection to be running wild inside you.
Drink plenty of parsley tea; gargle with it if you have to. Every time you go to the bathroom, follow it up immediately with another cup. Stay home, stay warm, and get some rest.

In any case, make sure you get a referral for a urine culture, because I highly doubt this is going to clear up without some antibiotics.

I deal with frequent bladder infections myself, and I usually manage them with Sinersul tablets—it's an antibiotic. But please, don't try to play doctor and start popping pills without waiting for the microbiology results first.

I did pick up some Urosal tablets recently; they're herbal supplements for urological issues and they work wonders for me when it comes to just a minor chill or that stinging sensation, but they won't do a damn thing against an actual bacterial infection.

And well... my urinary tract isn't giving me any grief.
Nothing hurts... just a bit of a fever. hm.

You clearly didn't read what I wrote🙂. You don't need to be feeling physical pain for an infection to be raging through you.
That fever? That's just one more side effect of the inflammatory process.
Don't play games with bacteria; if they hit your bloodstream, you're looking at sepsis. You need antibiotics, so go demand a referral for a urine culture immediately—honestly, you should probably ask for a kidney ultrasound while you're at it.

My son went through the exact same thing—his fever spiked all the way up to 102°F! He had both red blood cells and white blood cells showing up in his urine tests, yet he didn't have any of those typical stinging or burning sensations when he went to the bathroom or anything like that. It turned out to be a kidney infection (even though he wasn't complaining of any pain at all!) caused by E. coli bacteria. We ended up having to run a culture and sensitivity test to find the right antibiotic and then he just took the medication prescribed.

Oh, really??
Ugh, my fever peaked at 104.2... yeah... and I deal with this every single day. It’s constant.
I'm heading to the infectious disease clinic tomorrow to drop off a urine sample, so we'll see if it's some kind of bacteria... great.

So?
Is it possible I’ve picked up an STD?
The report shows quite a bit of mucus, epithelial cells, and bacteria... 😢

I don't buy it for a second.
I’m putting my money on E. coli. If that thing manages to nest in your kidney, you’re in for one hell of a ride while you try to flush it out.

So, I’ve got a normal AST, but my ALT is slightly low—it's at an 8, while the cutoff is 10. From what I can gather, that might be due to a Vitamin B6 deficiency, though I'm stumped because I eat pretty much everything that's supposedly high in it—Rib, soy, eggs, milk, spinach... and my GGT is sitting right on the bottom edge of the limit. Does anyone know what I should eat to nudge those numbers up?
PS. As far as I can tell, having a value just under the reference range isn't nearly as big of a deal as having one that's too high..

I was at the hospital today—went to see the doc... they didn't even ask for a urine sample or anything... just a quick physical and a finger prick for blood work. He basically told me it’s probably just the flu and to swing back by on Monday to see how I'm holding up—maybe we'll run some actual tests then.
Well, I guess that's just how it goes...

Seriously? That's what you think...

🙄🙂
Advice? If you have intense, unbearable, vague pain radiating through your lower abdomen along with pressure in your lower back, and it burns like hell every time you pee, head straight to the ER. They should admit you immediately and run every single test, including a urine culture. I honestly can't tell if we're just a bunch of hypochondriacs who see a tree and mistake it for an entire forest, or if this guy is completely blind—unable to see the tree, let alone the forest.☕

If it’s outside the reference range,
liver disease
and now,
which kind?
Usually, it's Hepatitis B or C,
though it could also be
cirrhosis
or fatty liver disease.
That's often how it starts.
My advice is this:
ask your doctor to run some specific markers
URGENTLY. 👍

I don't have any back pressure or burning when I pee!!
No... no... no.
I never said that...

No, no, no.
That is absolutely not what I said...

You totally missed my point🙄, I was suggesting you tell them exactly that so they’ll finally run a decent battery of tests, you know?😉 There are tons of women on this forum who went straight to the ER because their primary care doctors were playing guessing games—prescribing antibiotics for phantom parasites without ever running an antibiogram. They went to the emergency room, used the approach I suggested, and got the full panel done immediately, finally heading home with the *right* medication.
Honestly though, I admire your patience. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't put up with that nonsense for even an hour. Blood in your urine is not normal, and it sure as hell isn't just "the flu."😳
