Most visually stunning movies?

So, I think Hollywood just dropped a list of the top 50 most visually stunning movies ever made.
Obviously, my absolute favorite takes the number one spot: BLADE RUNNER!!🙂 🙂 🙂

Right now, the one film that sticks in my mind—mostly because of its overwhelming visual impact—is The Cell.

I actually caught it in a theater, which, let’s be honest, offers a completely different experience than watching it on a TV at home... I found the cinematography to be absolutely breathtaking.

As for whether the movie is actually any good? Well, that isn't really what we're here to discuss. 🙂

As soon as I saw this thread title, I was immediately reminded of The Cell.👍

To be honest, the movie itself is a bit of a mess, but visually, it’s absolutely Google.

It’s got those slow-motion sequences from Wild Bunch and that final scene set in the world of The Walk.

Man, I’m just sitting here tapping my fingers, waiting for someone—anyone!—to finally bring up LOTR or ROTK...🙄

For me, it’s always been Requiem for a Dream and Amelie,
not just because they're incredible stories, but because the visuals are just... wow. They're stunning.

(And I have to admit, The Cell is visually striking too.
I actually stumbled upon a copy of The Cell on sale at Target for a few bucks, so I grabbed it specifically for those visuals.🙂

I really loved Scream, and Bergman's Whispering Corridors, and even The Man Who Wasn't There, but if you're asking which movie has the absolute best cinematography, I guess I shouldn't count those.🙂

Gabe, I'm with you on this—Requiem is such a masterpiece that it actually earned a spot in my DVD collection. But honestly, isn't it more about the killer camerawork, the direction, and those weird, jarring angles rather than just being "visually stunning" for the sake of it?😕

Sleepy Hollow. Tim Burton's films in general.

A "hero"? More like a Chinese production.
Visually, it’s giving me major Tiger and Dragon vibes.

When I first saw the title, my mind immediately jumped straight to Peter Greenaway—thinking maybe something like his Child from Macon or Prospero's Books... but there’s definitely more to it than that, I guess. That was just my initial gut reaction.😉

Greenaway, Terrence Malick ("Days of Heaven"), David Gordon Green ("George Washington"), Werner Herzog ("Heart of Glass"), Wenders ("Sky..")
David Lean ("Great Expectations", "Oliver Twist", and so on)
Kalatazov "I Am Cuba"

And then there are the Russians... Tarkovsky ("Mirror", "Stalker", "Nostalgia")
not to mention this newer director Zvigjati (?), along with his film "The Return".
Or perhaps the work of Bertolucci & Storaro in "The Conformist"..

and so forth.

I haven't seen "Prospero's Books," and honestly, probably haven't seen "Child from Macon" either. But "The Cook, the Mistress, the Thief, the Wife, the Friend, the Cook, the Boy and his Librarian" is just brilliant 🙏 I can still see those scenes—that red light in the restaurant, then the woman in the red dress, then she goes to the restroom and there’s the white dress. I remember those colors so clearly. Red, green, then the worms, then that dark library...
And "Drowning by number"... amazing.

I was watching Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock" the other day—it's just stunning how he captures those sweeping landscapes, especially with those girls in their Victorian outfits dancing through the wild scenery. 👍

Coppola's Dracula.

I should probably mention—both films possess such unique soundtracks and atmospheres.

Visually, they’re just incredibly creative and imaginative—it feels like an instant transport to another world.
