Does anyone have a recommendation for a private infectious disease specialist in New York City? I'm looking for someone who specifically deals with the herpes zoster virus—ideally someone with significant experience in managing it.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good endocrinologist in New York City? Private practice is fine too. I'm looking for my mother; she isn't able to get around between different hospitals easily. Thanks!

Maybe 15 or 18 years ago, my mom and I went in for some kind of checkup at a clinic somewhere near Preradovic in New York City. I can't recall the exact address... The whole thing involved standing there naked on this device while they attached a few little sensors to you, like on your fingers and a couple of other spots. Then the machine just scans you and tells you exactly where everything is going wrong.
Thinking back on it now, it sounds like some total pseudoscience nonsense. But honestly, that guy—or doctor, whatever he was—hit the nail right on the head regarding my issues. I was just starting to deal with some ovarian inflammation, and he told me my heart was weak, which is actually something we have in our family genetics...

I'm curious if anyone knows what kind of clinic that actually was?

Since we're dealing with a fibroadenoma—which, according to my doctor, "a bad radiologist will struggle to spot, but a good one can read the image without any issues"—I'm looking for recommendations on where to go for regular ultrasounds: New York City or Indianapolis.

Basically, I need a solid, experienced radiologist that I can see consistently, rather than bouncing around to different people every six months... Thanks a lot!

Dr. Tarle in New York City. For an ultrasound, go to Tarle in Petrinja.

Dr. Tina Dusek at Johns Hopkins Hospital is excellent!

That would be Amsat, over on Petriceva Street. I don't think they're still operating in the US.

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with Medikol or Agram over in Indianapolis? Specifically, I’m looking to get a full, comprehensive physical done—you know, one of those deep-dive systemic checkups.
For me, it really comes down to two things: how much they actually know their stuff and whether the staff is friendly. I can't stand feeling like just another number in a cold clinic, you know?

Thanks so much for any advice or heads-ups you can give! 🙂

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a good physiatrist in New York City? Ideally someone covered by Medicare or maybe a clinic that takes Medicare, because honestly, I don't have the cash to go private right now. Thanks in advance!

I need to schedule surgery for gallstones, laparoscopic.
In New York City, if anyone can recommend the best place to get this done, and which doctor I should book an appointment with.
Thanks

I'm looking for some recommendations for a psychiatrist or psychotherapist who has a proven track record of success in treating anorexia.

I realized I forgot to mention that we're talking about a 14-year-old girl who is showing clear signs of anorexia. Her primary care physician suggested waiting another week to see how things unfold, but honestly, I don't feel like we have a single day to waste. The situation is getting worse by the hour.

If you're in NYC, specifically near the Vinogradska-z area, they supposedly have an amazing unit for minors dealing with eating disorders—I actually heard a recommendation for it from a psychologist. Over at the Bea Center, Hrvoje Handl was the guy for that. You could also try reaching out to Professor Modrusan, who's a psychologist and psychotherapist.

Thanks! 🙂 I've heard that H. Handl mostly works with adult patients.

Regarding Vinograd, I think that place is more geared toward hospitalizations—you know, if a disorder starts affecting physical functions or if someone's BMI is dangerously low. Handl treats adults, but as for Modrusan, I'm not entirely sure. You still have pediatric and adolescent psychiatry over at Johns Hopkins Hospital; the staff there is solid, though getting an appointment is a total nightmare.
If you have the means to see her privately, I'd suggest looking into that. I'm pretty sure Bei has a list of therapists who specialize in this sort of thing.

Hi everyone. I need to find a new general practitioner immediately!
Could anyone recommend a doctor at the Community Health Center?
I’m just looking for someone reliable—a doctor who actually wants to help, will call in a prescription, or can authorize a few days of sick leave if necessary. This is urgent... thanks.

If you can swing it, take her to see someone privately. I'm pretty sure Bei has a list of therapists who specialize in this stuff.

Prof. Modrusan is a psychologist-psychotherapist. If he doesn't specialize in that specific area, he'll point you toward someone who does. Or even just a GP could recommend a specialist or a clinic.

Hey there. I’m currently on the hunt for a new general practitioner in New York City—ideally somewhere in Brooklyn, Utrina, or Travno—though I’m not picky about the neighborhood. My main priority is finding someone who acts like a normal human being, doesn't treat every single referral like it’s a personal favor, and won't make me sit in a waiting room for half the day. My current doctor has been my physician since I was ten years old, and honestly, it's just total chaos. I’ve grown used to it over the years, but I haven't actually lived in this area for twelve years now. Even when I do bother to visit her, it happens so rarely that her new nurse, who’s only been there a few years, actually looked at me like a stranger because she’d never seen my face before. The real issue, though, is that she’s incredibly stingy with referrals. Every single time I go, I end up stuck waiting forever. I remember coming in about ten years ago, straight from the ER with my leg in a cast, just needing her to sign off on my medical leave, and I had to wait nearly three hours just to be seen. It's the same story with referrals; even though my entire medical history is right there in front of her, she won't just process them in the system over the phone. She insists I show up in person, wait to be "examined," and only then will she begrudgingly release the paperwork. Luckily, I need her services so infrequently that I usually just shrug it off and deal with it, but it really is time for a change. Thanks in advance for any recommendations you can share.
