If anyone happens to be looking into the Leptir Clinic, you can actually snag an appointment for a thyroid ultrasound as early as this Thursday—they have plenty of openings that day. The doctor there practices out of Rebro. I decided to go there myself because I’ve got these two cysts on the left lobe of my thyroid, and my cardiologist referred me for the scan. They also offer ear irrigation and the prices aren't too bad, though they don't seem to have any availability with the other doctors just yet. When I went there with my dad a few years back, the gastroenterologist from Rebro was just wonderful and incredibly professional. It looks like she isn't working over at Amrušev anymore, though.

Does anyone happen to know of a family medicine practitioner in the western part of Chicago who is currently accepting new patients? Please feel free to reach out via private message if you have any recommendations; thank you!

Greetings,
Does anyone know a solid doctor specializing in hand injuries (specifically a scaphoid fracture)? Looking for someone in Chicago or Miami...
It's pretty urgent.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for a specialist in Miami who deals with persistent, chronic pain in both masseters caused by intense stress? Ideally looking for a psychiatrist if possible... Thanks so much!

They actually have an endocrinologist over at the Leptir Clinic. There are quite a few doctors on staff there, so maybe you could just ask them directly. Personally, I’m planning to head there for my annual checkups, just like my doctor recommended. Their equipment seems solid—they have ultrasound and everything. Plus, since they have other specialists on-site, if something urgent comes up, you can probably see someone else. I'm honestly not sure what the deal is with hospital visits and those COVID certificates lately. Does anyone happen to know? I have a scan scheduled for late October. Do you still need a test for screenings even if there isn't any aerosol involved? Would one of those antigen tests from a drugstore be enough? If they require a PCR, I might just skip it. Usually, when you go to a private clinic, nobody asks you for anything; you just wear a mask and you're good to go. I mean, I did have to fill out a form at one clinic once, stating I hadn't been in contact with anyone sick, but most places don't even bother asking for that anymore.

Has anyone here ever had an EEG done at Medikol? My head has been hurting quite a bit lately, so I feel like I really need to go in as soon as possible. I’m also hoping to get on the schedule for a brain MRI once they open up those referrals at the end of the year. I was thinking maybe there's a smaller chance I'll miss my appointment slot if I don't go to the Community Health Center for the EEG. I would also love to request a different time slot because my doctor is honestly wonderful, but I just can't deal with the staff there—one of the nurses is truly awful.

In case anyone is wondering, there's currently a 13-day wait for an EEG through State Farm. I decided to book through them since it’s the most convenient location for me, $100 including getting the actual results interpreted. I feel kind of bad about skipping the Community Health Center because I could have used a referral to avoid paying out of pocket, but honestly, I just can't bring myself to deal with that nurse there, even though the doctor is actually wonderful.

If anyone is looking for some solid recommendations, there are these really sensible doctors who run a program specifically for trauma survivors. For me, it’s about dealing with the recent loss of my dad. They actually seem to know how to approach someone who is grieving. I’m actually heading there privately next week. If anyone wants more details, feel free to shoot me an inbox message.

How would you rate the gynecologist at the Siget Community Health Center in New York City? Is he actually any good?
I saw Zivkovic for years, and then went to Doka before he retired, but I really don't feel like trekking all the way across town to find someone new.

I doubt there’s any openings left at Siget.

You can go to the Siget Community Health Center—basically the DOJ of clinics. Or you could check out Batesu-cijen, though $83-that's what the doctor over at Rebro mentioned. You can also use a referral for Pb Vrabac or Jankomir, but honestly, if you're looking for neurology, I'd stick with Jankomir. Apparently, Pb Vrabac totally went downhill after the late Dr. Jukica passed away. They also do them at the Community Health Center and the Gregory of Nin Center.

It’s not just that, though... that doctor was just so incredibly nervous. I honestly don't know how they even manage to conduct any kind of testing with people in that state. And I've read where others have said they don't even bother doing them at all. People have been suffering through days of intense headaches because of it. So, I guess Jankomir is definitely the better choice—it feels more modern, and they seem to have much better trauma programs there. But this place... it's enough to make your head spin. You can't say anything to them without them getting defensive or offended. It seems like I'm not the only one who's had these experiences, either. Given that I was already going through such a massive shock myself, the way they treated me just made everything feel so much worse. They aren't really there to help you; they're just there to pass judgment. I wouldn't recommend them at all. The doctor is quite young, so maybe that's why I spoke up—I thought maybe she just didn't know better. But then the nurse from the home health service told me she once ran into trouble herself just for saying something regarding a patient, even though it was just standard general practice in her case. The nurse was truly kind and approachable, though. She actually told me not to worry, because I was more than just shocked by how the doctor acted. Honestly, maybe that doctor needs some help herself.

Everywhere you look, the prices for a private EEG are around $100. I guess the equipment at private facilities is usually a bit better. As for what they have at the Community Health Center, I haven't actually been there in a while, so I can't say for sure.

It’s not even about the gear, honestly. It’s about who is actually reading the results. There is a massive difference between paying 250 and $100-$17. That gap isn't small at all.

In the hospitals I've been to, I usually only saw old ultrasound machines, but whenever I went to private clinics—either by myself or with family—they always had the latest models. Even at the Community Health Center when I went with my mom, the Doppler machine felt kind of broken. She spent forever just trying to get it adjusted. I mean, the doctor is actually really wonderful, and the equipment is just what it is, but I honestly can't get that nurse out of my head. It felt like she was almost enjoying my discomfort, which is... well. Maybe it's better that I didn't go there. Though, looking back, I know how silly that sounds. It probably sounds incredibly foolish.
