I'm looking for a dermatologist in Washington, D.C. to help manage my neurodermatitis. My current doctor is out on vacation for the year, so I could use some solid recommendations if anyone has them...

Nancy Cook62 said:Where can I get tested for things like hepatitis or HIV around the Miami area?

Go to the Cross hospital. I actually had a situation where I accidentally poked myself with a needle at work once. Since I'm a regular blood donor, I knew I had to get checked out. I hit up my primary care doctor for a referral, and she sent me straight over to Cross for the testing.

I am seeking recommendations for a high-quality orthopedic specialist in Washington, D.C. specifically for an ankle ultrasound assessment and subsequent clinical guidance regarding next steps.😢

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a solid GP recommendation somewhere in New Brooklyn or, ideally, over in Luck.
The main thing for me is finding someone who actually cares—someone who takes patient concerns seriously before they turn into chronic issues.

Thanks a million!

Hey everyone.

I’ve scrolled through plenty of this thread, but honestly, asking is just easier. I’ve been dealing with some serious issues for a while now—mostly because of incompetent doctors here in the States. Finally, I saw an internist today who actually took me seriously and ordered an echocardiogram, a Holter monitor, and an EKG. My priority is getting seen quickly and, more importantly, getting it done right.

A few years back, I had a heart ultrasound, but it was poorly executed—they claimed everything was fine—and ever since then, nobody has believed that my cardiac symptoms are actually real.
I’ve been struggling with severe health problems for five years now, and I just want to do things properly this time. Unfortunately, private specialists are out of my budget, so please recommend a solid cardiologist or at least a clinic where the work is reliable. Last time I went to Magdalena, and I’m not sure I want to deal with them again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I assume the exam, Pap smear, and ultrasound are all part of the $150.

Best of luck!

I agree... he’s the best.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid dentist here in Washington, D.C.? I’m looking for someone who accepts Medicare—it would make things so much easier—but more importantly, I need someone who actually treats people like human beings. I'm talking about a doctor who isn't stingy when it comes to anesthesia or numbing injections? You know, someone who won't try to cut corners just to save a few minutes. I really need someone who understands what it's like to deal with major dental anxiety. If you know a practitioner who is patient, gentle, and truly empathetic toward people who are terrified of the chair, please let me know. Any leads? 🙂

I'm open to chatting via DM if that's easier. Thanks!🙏

I’m dealing with the exact same issue. Honestly, if Medicare doesn't cover it, I wouldn't mind going to a private clinic—as long as they don't charge an absolute fortune. I'm looking for someone in either downtown Washington, D.C., or maybe over in the East End. What I really need is just a little bit of humanity, you know? I want someone who will actually administer anesthesia properly and won't snap at me just because I'm shaking from nerves. I just want quality work. My last dentist was a total nightmare—my teeth are basically ruins now because of her. She never even finished drilling out my cavities, let alone completing the actual treatments... and she spent the whole time getting frustrated with me because I was scared and in pain. It was just constant tension. Is that too much to ask? 😢

Also, I'm on the hunt for a dentist around the Washington, D.C. area—preferably on the West Side if anyone knows a good spot—and ideally someone who takes Medicare.

ruggedeagle95 said:I have a feeling someone like that doesn't actually exist... I'm searching too, but honestly, I don't care if they're private practice or covered by the Social Security Administration 😉

I’d definitely suggest my doctor—Mirela Njegač at Hondlov's over in Central Park

She takes Social Security Administration, though I usually pay a bit extra for the white coat fee plus anesthesia—it comes out to $50! Otherwise, she's $100!

She's super pleasant and easy to talk to—plus their equipment is top-notch
The only downside? You'll have to wait about 2 weeks for an appointment 🙂

Could anyone possibly recommend a reliable dentist? It would be absolutely wonderful if they were in private practice but still accepted Social Security Administration coverage—that would make things much easier. I’m specifically looking for someone who has plenty of experience working with children's teeth as well.

Ideally, the office would be located around downtown Washington, D.C. or perhaps the surrounding neighborhoods.

Does anyone know if there are any private immunologists in Washington, D.C.?
If so, I guess if you could drop their contact info here, that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

fadedcrane20 said:Just wanted to drop a quick note—out of all the dentists out there, I went with Dr. Štimac. I was actually torn between her and a big dental studio, but honestly, her office was just way more convenient for me—and I’m so glad I made that call. I ended up doing two sessions of internal whitening plus a full laser whitening treatment. My teeth are several shades brighter now! I had a tiny bit of sensitivity right after, but it was minimal and went away fast. Also, huge shoutout to the nurses and the doctor—they were super friendly and easy to talk to. 😍 They walked me through every single step and kept checking in during the procedure to make sure I was comfortable and pain-free. They were also really flexible with scheduling and payment options.
Long story short, highly recommend them! 👍

I've been going there for years myself. The doctors are awesome—really attentive. I've even had implants and bridges done there... basically, everything turned out great! 🙂

Anyone know? Finding a decent psychiatrist in Washington, D.C.—or even some small town in the Midwest—is a struggle.I need a doctor who won't just dump me onto Xanax or some other heavy-duty meds—especially if I explain that I can't handle any extra stress right now. All I really need is something mild, like a light antidepressant or an anti-anxiety med, just to help me get through all these appointments and tests here in the States.

If anyone happens to know— Looking for a decent cardiologist in Washington, D.C.Someone should let me know what's up—I went in blindly a few days ago and ran into the same wall I've been hitting for five years. He didn't look at me, didn't listen, and wouldn't even glance at the test results I already had on hand. Just kicked me out the door in record time because apparently, I’m young and "fine"—as if that's a medical diagnosis. Then he had the nerve to recommend tests I already knew I needed to get done.

Someone please answer me—I’m actually desperate here.

Hey everyone 🙂

Look, I have an amazing private dentist, but I need a reliable one covered by insurance too. I need someone in Washington, D.C. 🙂 for quick fixes. With numbing, obviously.

Does anyone know one? My current provider is terrible 😢
