My son is dealing with grade 5 reflux, and he gets incredibly anxious every single time he has to go pee. I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this connection. I heard they perform scintigraphy at Mayo Clinic, but I have no clue what the cost looks like.

Hey, I'm looking for some solid recommendations for a great ENT specialist in Washington, D.C.—doesn't matter if they work out of a major hospital system or have their own private practice. Thanks!

So, I managed to accidentally chip a tooth yesterday. Now I’m on the hunt for a dentist in Washington, D.C. who isn't currently out on vacation—mine is totally MIA🤷—and more importantly, someone who actually respects their schedule. I need a place where "having an appointment" doesn't mean sitting in the waiting room for 30 to 60 minutes. Any leads? Thanks!😁

If you're looking for a GP, word of advice: stay far away from Filipovićka over in the suburbs. Sure, she’s quick, but good luck getting any paperwork sorted for sick leave or medical boards. She caused me nothing but headaches—completely missed my referral for a board review, then had the nerve to claim I never responded to the summons. She ended up sending me through the whole process unnecessarily just because she couldn't bother to read my test results, which messed up my excuses with my boss. Look, everyone’s experience is different, but personally? Skip her. If anyone knows a solid, competent doctor in the Chicago area, let me know.

Greetings, everyone!

Could someone point me toward a solid ophthalmologist in Chicago? I don't particularly care if they're private practice or covered by insurance, provided they actually know their stuff. I’m looking for a specialist—someone who does more than just prescribe glasses and contact lenses, but can actually handle complex ophthalmological issues.

Thanks in advance.

Look, if price isn't your main concern when picking a private dentist—I’d suggest the Sever clinic over on Broadway, near that Briton guy's place.

In my opinion, they're pricey, but I know people who go there and they do great work.

I apparently need an endodontic procedure done, which looks like it'll run me at least 1 $167 if not more..😲 To me, that's just fucking expensive.

They show you their full price list right away, so there aren't any "I didn't know" excuses.

And the prices are... $117 if you take this plus some $233 for that plus whatever else + $67 X-rays...

So, if anyone knows a private specialist who does that specific "procedure" without charging an arm and a leg while still getting good results, let me know.🙂

Also, has anyone actually seen Dr. Cekić over on Austrian Street?

Melissa Clark13 said:Hey everyone,
I started this thread for anyone looking for doctor recommendations in Indianapolis. I'm 43 and have seen plenty of them.
Zubarija: I’ve seen most of them, and honestly, the best sleep I've had was with... Dr. Polak to Joseph Prpic.Young guy, extremely meticulous. He did my bridge and pulled three teeth without me feeling a single bit of pain. He even sent me to a surgeon to get stitches after the extractions just to make sure there wouldn't be any craters left—something most people wouldn't bother doing. $50)
Extraction.$33)
Most is. $333 Just a tooth. $67 It costs more than those budget dentists you find right outside a Walmart. The clinic has a waiting room with a TV, though they usually call you in right on schedule—I’ve never actually had to wait. They won't charge you until you're satisfied with the work. Everything is handled very professionally, and they're flexible with arrangements. The only downside is they don't have an X-ray machine on-site, so if you need imaging, you'll have to head over to the local community health center.
I’m giving him a full 5 out of 5 stars. 👍

Dr. Polak I went to see a young guy over on European Avenue East, and honestly, I wasn't feeling it. I went in just to get a single filling replaced, but without even asking me, he shot me up with three different injections, swapped out three fillings, and then billed me for the whole works. He’s just a penny-pincher who doesn't care about what the patient actually wants or needs. I won't be going back there.👎

Dr. Filipovic. She’s a top-tier doctor working through Medicare. Her mood swings can be hit or miss, but if you're picking from those Medicare providers, she’s probably your best bet.👍

Vladimir Haring and his wife.I’ve been to both of their clinics, and honestly? Not impressed. Sure, the facilities are nice, but they treat patients like they're on an assembly line. They aren't exactly focused on doing the job right. He’s slightly better than she is, at least when it comes to actual expertise.
Haring's wife is Dr. Polak's sister.👎

Dusica SiberWay too expensive. The wife is fine, but since the old man retired, I’ve only been there once. He prefers filing down teeth without using any numbing agents. He talks about you to his wife like you aren't even standing right there. The guy is a complete moron. His son runs the practice now, but I haven't been back yet.👎

This is just what I’ve dealt with personally. I know some people won't agree, which is exactly why I'm starting this thread—so everyone can share their own experiences and draw their own conclusions.

Mod edit:
This thread belongs in its proper place—the "Looking for a Doctor..." sticky. Opening individual threads like this just clutters the board and turns into a massive advertisement or a venting session that stretches on for pages.

I saw Dusica Siber, and she prefers avoiding injections.

I've had about five or six teeth fixed, and I've never once needed an injection. 😲😁

I honestly wonder how I pulled that off. Most people wouldn't dream of sitting in a dentist's chair without being knocked out first. My procedure went smoothly, and since it was about four or five years ago, the costs weren't a total nightmare—plus, being a broke college student back then meant they were a bit more lenient with the bill. $33 Back when I first arrived...

I need dental work done. I’m living in Chicago now and can't decide which of these people to see from that massive list. I checked out the place I mentioned over at Sever, but man, those prices are insane.

Hey there,
I’m on the hunt for a psychotherapist or psychologist who actually specializes in specific areas—specifically trauma/PTSD, bipolar disorder, and/or anxious depression.
The biggest thing for me is the environment; I need somewhere that feels welcoming and comfortable, not some cold, sterile hospital setting.
I’m looking for someone who truly understands the craft—someone focused on things like cognitive behavioral therapy rather than just a doctor who hands out prescriptions and sends you on your way. Honestly, money isn't the main concern here; my priority is finding a highly recommended specialist who knows their stuff.

Thanks,

Honestly, this is probably the best dentist ever. If you're someone who totally panics about dental work, I really recommend them. She's just wonderful and so patient. They give you plenty of anesthesia, so I guess you won't feel a single thing—it doesn't hurt at all. She really goes out of her way to help, and 😍

Hi everyone,

I’m living in Des Moines and unfortunately, they don't offer dermatoscopy here—so I need a recommendation for a hospital in Chicago or maybe Indianapolis where I can actually get a dermatoscopy exam done. And I mean dermatoscopy, NOT just a general dermatology appointment!

Ideally, if it’s possible to go through Medicare.

I spent way too much time getting sunburnt at the beach back when I was a kid, so I've ended up with quite a few moles on my back—better safe than sorry, I guess.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I could really use some help here. I’m looking to get signed up with a dentist somewhere around Dugava, but honestly, from what I’ve heard, the clinic at the local health center is a total disaster. Does anyone know a private dentist who still accepts Medicare? Or if you just know a good private practice, please hit me up—I don't mind looking in New Chicago either. Thanks so much!

Does anyone have a good ophthalmologist recommendation in the Chicago area, maybe closer to the West Side 🙂, who isn't part of some massive clinic where you end up paying an absolute fortune for everything? Thanks so much!

I’m looking for some advice—based on what you all have experienced in Chicago, where can I find a solid physiatrist and decent physical therapy covered by Medicare?

Back when I was dealing with this two years ago, I went over to the Holy Spirit clinic in the Mladost area, and honestly, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the results. Don't get me wrong, the therapists there are perfectly polite people, but they barely pay any attention to your actual form or whether you're even doing the exercises correctly. Is there actually a way to get better quality care without having to bleed money out of my pocket?

Jessica Wood92 said:Mercury actually has some seriously talented vascular surgeons, ranging from Professor George to Dr. Hlevnjak, Dr. Škopljanac, and Dr. Erdelez. Honestly, you won't
go wrong when it comes to their expertise—though I have no clue what the wait times are like right now.
Over at the new hospital, Dr. Sharley is also quite good.

If you can manage it, just stay away from Dr. Dubravko Hlevnjak at Mercury. I’m speaking from my own experience here, and unfortunately, it was a bitter, painful ordeal that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Look, he might be technically skilled—maybe—but the level of arrogance and unprofessionalism I encountered is something you rarely see. It’s honestly a tragedy and a disgrace that people like that are even part of our healthcare system...

Does anyone know if this can be handled at a standard hospital, or is it something you have to go private for?
If private is the way to go, what kind of costs are we looking at over at the Mayo Clinic?🤷

If you're looking to go through a private provider like the Mayo Clinic, how much is that actually going to set you back?🤷

Take a look. Right here. There’s still plenty of material on that topic over in the subforum... Just use the search bar.

Hey, looking for a recommendation for a certified MD/acupuncturist (not some random shaman 🙄). IBM used acupuncture a few years back and it really helped, but that doctor isn't practicing anymore, so we're hunting for someone new. He's currently on a mix of meds and an inhaler; his ragweed allergy is absolutely brutal. Last year he switched up his prescription and only had symptoms for four days—he was thrilled. But this year, he's been suffering for two weeks straight and just can't take it anymore.

We found John Smith online. Does anyone know anything about him?
