Suggestion: Like/Dislike button for posts

Take Lukic and his band of clones, for example—they used to vote each other up constantly (especially during those elections for the most popular user, where he probably deployed God knows how many fake accounts, not to mention how they organized to tank everyone else's rating). If we wanted to actually improve things, maybe we should just have a way to tag favorite users so their posts stand out more—like giving them a different background color or something.

Maybe we could just use an icon on the left side of the post so you can instantly recognize who's talking—sort of like an avatar? 😬 😬

Every time I scroll through PZK or check out banned threads, I notice the exact same pattern: people can’t help themselves. They just have to open up three or four different accounts just so they can go around giving themselves five-star ratings. It's pathetic.

Look, it’s not like I actually get it, but giving yourself five-star ratings? That would be about as easy as if they introduced some kind of "upvote" system where you could just praise other users on Reddit whenever you felt like it.

It’s like every single Democrat on Reddit just lives to lecture some Republican, and vice versa. Or you’ve got the heavy metalheads looking down their noses at anyone who listens to country music, or the vegans acting all superior toward anyone who actually eats a burger instead of living on tofu and mushrooms... then you have the Linux nerds constantly condescending to anyone brave enough to use Windows. It's endless.

Honestly, we should just rename this entire site to Reddit Horror. Seriously.

Honestly, nothing needs changing. No likes, no bells and whistles, just leave it alone. Some things are perfectly fine exactly how they are without adding all this unnecessary fluff ☕

And god forbid they try to turn this Reddit thread into some bloated Facebook clone... what a brilliant idea that would be 🙄

Those of us who have been around long enough remember the old version of Reddit before they switched to the current layout back in the early 2000s, which had something very similar. Next to every user's handle, there was a five-star rating system where people could rate one another from one to five, and the average would show up as a set number of lit stars. It actually worked pretty well for a while. However, then came the nightmare of sockpuppet accounts; people who didn't like certain users would just create dozens of fake profiles specifically to tank that person's public rating. Anyone who remembers the legend of forum user I. L., who mostly posted about religion and politics, will likely recall how he basically pioneered that tactic by using over 50 different clones—which eventually left everyone on the site with a rating of only one or two stars.

I suppose I am glad that practice was ended when the current version of Reddit was introduced, and remembering the toxic atmosphere it caused among all of us, I feel somewhat opposed to seeing it revived in any form.
