1. Going to the movies—you know, that massive screen, total darkness, the sweet sound of surround audio, and then you've got those annoying people talking through the whole thing or laughing at all the wrong parts (not to mention the constant smacking sounds from someone eating those damn Lay's popcorns)... but man, you just can't beat that whole vibe. I probably head out about once or twice a week.

2. VHS—only when I can't track down a DVD, I guess.

3. DVD—mostly just for whenever I'm hanging out at a friend's place.😉

I usually head straight to the theater for the absolute best stuff. You know, those movies where I’m pretty much certain they’re going to be incredible, or maybe even masterpieces... though I get it wrong once in a while, I guess, but honestly, about 90% of the time I hit the mark on my picks.
Then there are the ones that I think are worth watching, but maybe don't quite have that "big screen" magic... those are better for a DVD. Or maybe DivX, or even a dusty old VHS if I can find them, if the first two aren't an option.
As for TV, that's mostly for the classics. I rarely sit through a newer release on television... just doesn't feel right.

DVD, DivX, then hit the theater.
I’d love for going to the movies to be my go-to, but I live out in the sticks where the theater's sound system is terrible (plus, all that technological progress has recently 🙄) and the seats are incredibly uncomfortable.
Every once in a while, I’ll make the trek to Washington, D.C. for a screening, but I can't do that too often when I have 50 miles to get to D.C. And since it takes just as long to get to the heart of the city as it does to get to Manhattan, 😕 🙄
Luckily, I set up a home theater, so I make up for it at home 😎. I've got my computer hooked up to everything, so even DivX isn't half bad—Logic is doing its job perfectly enough.

First there was the theater, then DVDs, then video, and now it’s all about DivX.

Movies (at least once a week), DVDs more often, and the occasional DivX night. All accompanied by a mountain of snacks and sodas. I know, you guys probably hate 😁 types like me. But I promise I don't crunch or chew loudly (that drives me crazy)... 😎

Richard Thompson33, movies just aren't the same without a mountain of snacks and soda on hand 😉 😁
take some Lay's and a cold beer, for instance... now we're talking 😎

Mmm, delicious 😁
I just finished those paprika ones, and then moved on to a spicy chip—I can't remember the exact flavor, I'll have to check the bag later 😁
But when I was out at the beach, I discovered this cheese and onion variety... oh man, it was heavenly 😁
I don't really drink beer at the movie theater; I'd be too worried about bothering my neighbors with the smell
But sitting here at my desk, a cold Coca-Cola or a Joe sounds perfect 😉

Sandy, I think we might be on the same page here:
Cheese & Onion and Joe are my absolute favorites. 🙂
I only ever buy Lay's like that; if they don't have the barbecue ones, fine, 😛
but it has to be X-cut!
That's my go-to at home, though when I'm at the movie theater, I stick to the classics—those incredibly salty popcorn buckets and watered-down sodas in massive cups.

DVDs and DivX—you can actually hit pause whenever you feel like it, or just watch half a movie today and finish the rest tomorrow 🙂

Oh, definitely! You were born on August 9th and I'm August 10th, so we're pretty close there 😉 (though I'm not sure about the year 😉).
And yeah, X-cut is a must... those thin ones don't even feel like anything 😁.
So, when are you taking me to the theater? Don't worry, I know plenty of ways to sneak in some real food so we don't have to deal with the overpriced junk they serve there. 😉

Do you prefer watching movies at home, or are you more of a cinema person? Do you need a drink or some snacks to go with it, and do you prefer total silence, or are you the type who feels a constant urge to provide a running commentary?

At the movie theater, obviously. I end up there pretty often because, let's be honest, you just can't experience certain films any other way. I’m a big fan of the silence and that total focus you get there—it really helps with that maximum "suspension of disbelief." To be fair, I usually give a movie a real fighting chance to actually pull me into its world.

Exactly.

But in all seriousness, I actually enjoy critiquing bad movies, so I’m always down to watch them with a group. Unfortunately, I can't seem to handle the theater environment, so I usually just dissect films with my friends instead. Though, honestly, they're even worse than I am—even if I stay quiet, they'll constantly jump in with their own critiques...
When it comes to serious films, I much prefer watching them solo.

At the movie theater, obviously. And let’s be real, a trip to the cinema isn't actually a trip to the cinema unless you've got a big bucket of those sweet and salty 🙂 Lay's popcorn and a cold drink in hand... Honestly, when I really sit down and think about it, I basically only go to the movies just for the snacks.
Forget the movie itself.😁

I’m just sitting here at home watching a DVD. To be honest, I can't stand China—it feels like there's always someone constanty droning on about it or chewing loudly in my ear. Personally, I prefer to just shut myself in my room, crank up the volume, and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter where we end up... as long as the company is solid.
