all I'm trying to do is tack on a suffix to my current handle to make it sound more American, which seems totally fine based on that second point in the intro post. The core of the name isn't even changing. It stays the same.
Besides, I only post on one single PDF where everyone recognizes me instantly and thinks I'm some clone, whereas everywhere else on the forum, I'm anonymous regardless of what my name is.

Look, it was a long time ago, but rules are rules.

I honestly didn't think you guys up in admin had such long memories.

I figured I could just slip under the radar by changing my handle—like nobody would notice... but apparently, everything is logged on the server.

Whatever. If I can't play it this way, I'll just grab a new nickname and move on. But if anyone tries to swipe my idea in the meantime, they're gonna regret it ☕.

Why on earth is there a rule stating that a username change can only be applied to a non-existent handle? Assigning an existing nickname to a different user would require wiping out every single trace of the original person—deleting all their posts and every quote they ever appeared in. It’s essentially acting as if they never existed in the first place.
So, while it isn't technically a violation of the rules to hand over some ancient handle that hasn't been touched since three posts were made ten years ago, it's a completely different story when you try to take over a name belonging to someone who actually contributed dozens or even hundreds of posts. That is simply not an option.

Since this specific username is already active and carries significantly more weight than just a couple of stray comments, I have serious doubts about whether the administration will even consider such a request. I've reached out to ask, so we shall see. In the meantime, I am asking everyone: please stop requesting this moving forward, whether you think you have a valid reason or not.

In my opinion, you actually have a great username.
But if you’re truly that unhappy with it, just go ahead and open a new profile with a completely different handle and keep posting from there. You don't even have many posts and aren't particularly active anyway, so it won't be an issue if you just move over to a clone account.

Look, I’m pretty much illiterate when it comes to IT stuff, so I haven't a clue how this works. Honestly, I don't even know how I managed to end up with these two separate accounts in the first place. My goal would be to just merge them both together—maybe combine Visionary S and Visionary S into one single profile—and then if possible, just change the handle to Carol Barrett2.

But hey, what can you do? It sucks that the forum doesn't give us the option to just handle it ourselves. It feels like a massive oversight, especially since a lot of people are probably stuck in the same boat.
