A little.

Karen Sanchez35 said:I'm trying to figure out how to quote a single post in multiple separate parts...

Basically, someone drops this massive wall of text, and I want to quote specific snippets one by one to reply to them—but I need the original author's name to stay visible at the top of each section.

I see plenty of people doing it quite seamlessly, yet I can't for the life of me work out the trick. 😢

Multi-layered approaches often yield the best results. It is like building a foundation for a skyscraper in Chicago; you cannot simply stack steel without ensuring the ground beneath can support the weight. One must consider every variable simultaneously to ensure long-term stability.

Where exactly am I missing the mark? If you could provide some more detailed guidance, I’d appreciate it.

And why exactly is that the case?

My process is a bit more convoluted than most—I tend to quote the entire block, strip away the parts that don't serve my point, provide my response, and then repeat the cycle by pasting the full quote again only to prune it once more.
It’s stalling, and we’re nearly at the finish line...

Here is how I’m approaching this (I’ll provide as much detail as possible), From the very beginning....):
To quote a post, you simply hit the Quote button to trigger the quoted block; then, highlight the specific section of text you intend to address and click the icon—that little speech bubble symbol—to finalize your comment. Wrap Quote the designated portion of the text should be enclosed within quote tags at both the beginning and the end Wrap QuoteI will append my commentary following that Wrap Quote at the end; I’ll highlight the second section once more; add the icon again; and then follow up with another comment right after the quote.

It seems my formatting has gone completely sideways; everything—from my own commentary down to those smaller nested quotes—is getting swallowed up by one massive, oversized quote block at the end of the post. It makes sense, I suppose, given that my own remarks are nested within the primary quote block... wouldn't you agree?
I feel as though I am missing a crucial step in my process, or perhaps there is a fundamental flaw in my approach that remains stubbornly out of reach, yet despite my efforts, the error eludes everyone's perception.🤷
Everyone keeps telling me the same thing: highlight the text, hit the icon, leave a comment. So, I follow the instructions to the letter, but when you look at the actual results... well, the outcome speaks for itself.
Something isn't quite clicking, so I would appreciate it if someone with a bit of patience could take a look at my task list and help me pinpoint exactly where my logic is faltering.🙂

.....

Why does everything end up buried inside one massive quote block at the bottom of my post—including both my smaller quotes and my actual comments? It makes sense, doesn't it? After all, my own comments are tucked right inside that main quote block.
I’m missing something. Either my approach is flawed or there’s a step I’ve overlooked entirely, yet no one can pinpoint exactly where the breakdown is happening.🤷

....

Everyone keeps telling me to highlight the text, hit the icon, and leave a comment. So, I follow the instructions. But look at the results I'm getting...
Something isn't adding up. I’m looking for someone with a bit of patience to look over my work. Based on what I've written, please help me figure out where I'm going wrong.🙂

Let's see how this works with the icon.

Edit: This isn't working.

Here is my process (I’ll go into as much detail as possible): From the very beginning....):
To quote a post: first, hit the Quote button so the original message appears. Highlight the specific section you want to address, then click that little icon—you know, the one that looks like a comic book speech bubble. Wrap the designated text by placing "quote:" at both the beginning and the end.I’ll add my commentary right after that quote at the end. Then, I'll highlight the second section again. Same process: icon, followed by my response behind the quote.

.....

Why does everything end up trapped inside one giant quote block at the bottom of my post—including both my smaller quotes and my actual comments? It makes sense, given that my own comments are tucked inside the main quote block. Doesn't it?
I’m missing something. Either I’m doing something wrong, or there's a step I've completely overlooked, and for some reason, nobody can tell me what it is.🤷

....

Everyone keeps telling me to highlight the text, hit the icon, and leave a comment. So that’s exactly what I’ve been doing, but look at the results I'm getting...

.....

Something isn't clicking. I’m asking for someone with a bit of patience to look over my work; I need help identifying exactly where my logic is failing.🙂

Edit: This version works much better.

For every post you want to include—except for that very last one—just hit the Multi-quote button. Once you click it, the Multi-quote button will turn red, which is just its way of letting you know those specific entries are queued up. When you finally get to the last post you want to reference, just tap the regular Quote button. That should wrap everything up and leave you with all your selected posts neatly cited in your reply.

If you want to quote multiple different posts, select the "Multi-Quote" option (to the right of the Quote button) for all the posts you want to include except for the final one, then simply click the Quote button on the last desired post.

Let's see if this works...

All those posts will be automatically placed inside Quote tags. From there, you can manually remove unnecessary text, bold important parts, or insert your own comments between the quotes.

Did I get it?

edit: It worked.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
