I suppose this kind of mindset is essentially what causes the disaster over on the Legal board:

rule :
The Legal PDF isn't—no matter how crimsonsailor7 might feel about it—really a place where people come seeking legitimate counsel. I mean, when someone truly needs serious legal advice, they would probably just go to an attorney. People visit the Legal PDF because they're interested in the law as a way to pass the time, have some fun, or just indulge in a hobby. God forbid we ever see a day when internet forums become places where people rely on them for actual legal guidance.

But even if that were to happen, I doubt there would be enough competent lawyers left to help, especially with hostess crimsonsailor7 in charge—most of them have already abandoned the forum.

Obviously it isn't, because you can't post all the specific details or necessary documentation regarding a case on a forum. You can only speak from memory and offer some vague, general suggestion. Most people just come here for entertainment, and honestly, thank God for that; even I used this forum for entertainment, though if I noticed someone actually needed help, I’d give it to them. Why not?

But mostly, people do show up asking questions about their own problems. Anyone following Legal Forum has surely noticed that. And what are you supposed to do with someone who asks how long pretrial detention lasts without even knowing which GOP official or entity they are even talking about, let alone anything else? You could write a mile-long post about pretrial detention and the different stages of a legal proceeding, but you can't really start a meaningful discussion around an inquiry like that.

I'm sorry you feel that way about the forum, but I believe everything can be fixed—by analyzing it and seeing what needs changing. I think everyone should have a hand in that, both the moderators and the users, since the forum exists for your sake.

As for moderation, I don't want to be blamed for things that aren't true, just like Francesca did. There have been plenty of situations where another moderator might have handed out a warning, but we managed to resolve the dispute via DM without any penalties or fighting. It feels to me like this is just pure criticism—let's just criticize a moderator simply because they happen to be a moderator.

Here’s a little anecdote from my days working in IT that fits this situation perfectly—I might be exaggerating a bit here, so please don't take this as a jab at your efforts to make things better.

A user once opened a ticket saying: "I've been on Facebook all day and it keeps telling me the page is under maintenance and to try again later. Please, tell me what I should do?"

And Horny replies: "Well, you should probably swap out your router; if that doesn't work, call your ISP. If the ISP can't fix it, you'll need a new computer. But before you go through all that trouble, maybe try changing the user first." 🤣

In my estimation, we know exactly what needs to change in the actual legislation—it's obvious—but since that's never going to happen, I suppose the easiest path forward would be to just start swapping out the users.

Linda Wells4 said:Honestly, Charles Thomas70, I don't even recognize you as a regular here, let alone as a mod. I really hope you bring some actual creativity to this legal subforum—it needs a bit of a spark.
To be blunt, everything up to this point has felt like reading a dry corporate meeting minute.
A little bit of creative thinking and lucidity wouldn't hurt anyone, much less this place.
I tend to drift through three or four different subforums regularly—even if I haven't actually posted anything in ages. Most of my time is spent clicking through History, Politics, Constitutional Law, and IT...
There used to be a "Legal Corner" on my list, too.
You know the drill—that morning routine where you grab a coffee and scan the latest threads.
It’s been a long, long time since I last clicked on the legal section.

I already know someone is going to chime in with those nauseating comments like "it's not our loss" or "oh, what a shame," but people who take responsibility for a specific subforum simply cannot afford to have that mindset by default.

The thing is, some people mistake arrogance for importance, or they think authority is all about raw power.
With all due respect, I'm talking to people like that.
And frankly, I give the areas they moderate a very wide berth.

BTW—don't get me wrong, I'm not against a firm hand. For instance, Tyndall is a rock-solid moderator. He doesn't play games. But in all my time here, I've never seen a ban issued out of pure ego; it's always strictly for the good of the forum he's managing.

As for Katrin, this whole drama has been hashed out a hundred times over on the linked threads, and I vividly remember older, defunct threads that presented far better arguments than what we're seeing now.
People have taken permanent bans because of her before.
And I honestly don't see things changing this time around.
Signing off for now.

You probably don't know me because I'm fairly new (you mentioned you used to post in Law). I started posting in Law back in 2008, specifically on topics related to my profession. I became a moderator in 2009.

That whole "we haven't lost much" level of discussion isn't helpful; it's irritating and just leads to escalation. I work in alternative dispute resolution, so I try to apply that experience here—especially since this virtual world is a pretty slippery slope where it's easy to get into arguments.

As for my moderation style—I'm more of a "silent" moderator. I clear out off-topic posts, move things when necessary, rename threads, or even edit individual posts if they contain stuff that might get a user a warning, and then issue the warning. As a regular user, I haven't had much time to write lately due to work. So, Francesca's post surprised me. Maybe she's one of the ones who got a warning, I don't know.🤷

It’s been a long while since I’ve actually contributed to any thread around here—I basically retired my old handle a while back. Honestly, I only keep this account active because of a few specific registered user functions I need; mostly just to get through those PDFs that I hold dear.

I’ve reached this point where I start viewing posting on this forum as a full-blown obligation—it becomes this thing on my to-do list that I feel pressured to tackle—and then, before I know it, it’s swallowed up a massive chunk of my day. Honestly, between everything else going on, I’m starting to wonder where I'm even supposed to find the extra time for these activities anymore.
It’s actually a relief to see someone finally standing their ground with a different perspective—honestly, I'm glad someone's right for once. Though, looking at how you managed to bypass all those filters... man, you really dodged a bullet there. 🙄).
Maybe Francesca lives by this one rule: the moment Katrin calls her out, she decides to hold a grudge against every single moderator on the board. 😬

You know, I’ve been thinking about what everyone noticed regarding Katrin—and honestly, there's a reason I haven't been able to just shake off how she carries herself. It’s exactly why I decided to reactivate my account and start typing again.
There is one particular thing I can’t stand—truly, I find it utterly loathsome—and that is perfidy. There's simply no other word for it.
If you ever find yourself getting into it with her—I mean, a real, heated debate over something—just watch how she plays it. She’ll spend the next week hunting through your entire post history, looking for any tiny little loophole in the forum rules just to get under your skin. It’s calculated. She’ll report you for technicalities, edit your posts behind your back, and just slowly, methodically, pick at you until you’re practically vibrating with rage. It keeps going like that—this relentless, subtle poking—right up until the moment you finally snap and tell her exactly where she can shove it. But that’s when the trap closes. The second you lose your cool and lash out, suddenly those "gray area" rules don't matter anymore. Now, you've broken a hard rule, and you'll find yourself tossed into the digital equivalent of a solitary confinement cell. You’ll be sitting there in some obscure corner of the site, shouting into the void like a guy standing alone on a peak in the Rockies during a blizzard—nobody’s listening, nobody cares, and you're just left whistling in the wind.

Look, Katrin—I’m a spiteful person. I am, I am, I am. No, wait... actually, I haven't forgotten you. I have. I really have. Everything is forgiven—truly, I mean it. 😁

In my entire six-plus years of lurking and posting on this forum—which feels like a lifetime, honestly—I’ve managed to rack up exactly two bans and maybe five warnings total since they started handing them out... most of which came courtesy of Katrin. 😬It’s funny, really—I’ve been posting all over the place, yet somehow I managed to miss the mark when it came to actually starting a thread in the right section. It’s almost impressive, isn't it? Honestly, I can't even make excuses... even when I was dealing with that absolute nightmare of a period—you know, that overwhelming monthly cycle—I still couldn't seem to get my navigation straight! Just one of those days, I guess.

I couldn't care less about the ban—honestly, I earned most of my marks around here through sheer stubbornness, and they were worth it—but what actually eats at me is the injustice of it all. It’s the thought that some new user might stumble upon Katrin, only to walk away from this forum entirely because things feel off. We might lose out on a thousand laughs, a thousand brilliant posts, or a thousand deep, winding discussions that serve as the perfect seasoning for my morning coffee before I dive headfirst into the daily grind. It’s just a damn shame.

Look, I don't exactly sit around catching up on the daily news cycle—I leave that to the people with more patience than me. I stick to the forums. And honestly, even if you look at a legal document or some official PDF posted here, it really ought to be more than just dry text. It should actually be engaging, informative... a place where people can trade experiences, swap intel, offer advice, or even genuinely learn something new. That’s what a community is for, right? What else is there?

A law—unlike any other PDF document floating around—should never be a mere reflection of whatever views the moderator "editing" it happens to hold. To me, managing a sub-forum means actually respecting the people participating in the debate; it’s about trying to simmer down the best possible broth from those discussions so that everyone who drops by later gets a taste of something meaningful.
That’s just how I see it, anyway.
But hey, maybe I’ve got it all wrong.
🤷

P.S. I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to claim ownership of this thread like some old relic—I'm slowly backing away. I'm heading out; I've earned my pension on this forum fair and square.

"let me see you go
may your step be light
there they walk together
just like so many before us
in a way, you are an image
that people remember
the sweet movement of a dear soul
ah, I am retreating into solitude

Katrin, last time I was on here, I got slapped with two red cards over the exact same topic—since when did we stop using yellow cards? Now I’m stuck on the same PDF, half-expecting some more "creative" writing to be added to my file. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to ban me with the same intensity they use for "cleaning up" the board.
I didn't bother complaining back then because, frankly, what's the point? But clearly, being a moderator is a passion project for you, acting like some legislator tossing out penalties whenever the mood strikes.😍

Charles Thomas70 said:Obviously it isn't, because you can't post all the specific details or necessary documentation regarding a case on a forum.

I suspect there isn't much need for deep analysis here. It seems quite apparent who needs to be replaced. Most of the issues would likely be resolved once Katrin is removed from the Law PDF moderation team, which I believe would pave the way for many former contributors to return—those who were perhaps driven away by her gatekeeping or chose to leave on their own because they didn't want to be subjects of her personal biases.

I fear that only then might true conditions for a dialogue regarding the improvement of the PDF be established with the users, provided there is actually a sincere desire to do so.

Honestly, I really do wish you guys the best, and I genuinely hope those in charge can spot where things are going sideways and actually fix them.
It might be asking a bit much to expect moderator Katrin to just realize her own mistakes or voluntarily step down from the role—you know, maybe admit she’s out of her depth, acknowledge she was wrong, or just shake up some old habits.
But let’s be real, that’s a tall order... ego is such a massive, overwhelming force, and sometimes a person just can't fight against their own pride, no matter how much they might want to.
I don't think anyone's world would end if someone finally owned up to the fact that certain things aren't working, even if that means making a tough call like replacing a moderator to get things back on track.
Good luck, everyone. 😉

Same here. I wish leadership would handle this like adults instead of just locking the thread with some quick comment from an admin or a mod (hopefully it doesn't come to that).
The problems are obvious. Look at the polls, look at past threads, or just talk to the people running into the same wall with this specific moderator. To be clear, I have nothing against Vojky or Charles Thomas70; my issue is strictly with the moderator in question.
The worst part? This Law subforum has basically become her own private fiefdom. People are getting banned under vague rules. Getting hit with a 30-point penalty for a "rule violation" is like being fined by the highway patrol because they decided the speed limit should have been different today—if you catch my drift.
The moderator herself constantly posts these short, unprofessional messages that don't belong on a forum like this. It feels more like she's just "chatting" with users. I won't go into detail; just read her posts on the first page of the Law subforum.
And then there's the whole thing about her holding grudges from old arguments and using them later. I don't even need to bring it up; other users have said it, and I've experienced it myself several times.

I log onto the forum, and what do I see? I've been banned.👎
I didn't want to start this thread earlier, even though this issue has been festering for ages. The main reason was that, just like slybison8, I simply walked away from the rule : Quote because I saw bans being handed out completely arbitrarily.
Now, after jumping back into this sub-forum for a bit because of this whole debate, I'm running right into the same wall.

What I want to know is: why are moderators treated like untouchable royalty? I get it with the admins—they’re the alpha and omega here—but the moderators?! Come on, man. They're just people. Most of the time, the admins don't even know them; they just hand out mod status because they seem "nice."

So, I really don't get who this hostess is trying to impress? She's arrogant as hell, just like slybison8 said, acting with this childish "you're annoying me so I'm shutting down the discussion" attitude.
That sub-forum isn't her private playground, even though she acts like it is. I'm not the only one who feels this way; I've talked to plenty of people who feel exactly the same.

Something needs to be done. And again, hats off to Vojky. I've clashed with him plenty of times in various threads, but he stays objective, and I respect that. I know he's in this debate specifically to make sure things run smoothly, just like they do in other sensitive discussions—you know, like those debates over the death penalty.
But with this hostess? It's a total disaster.👎

Exactly. Let’s just hold onto that thought of yours for a deeper dive later. 😉

I am completely with you on this...

She is undeniably arrogant.

I don't think anyone who has actually read more than one thread could possibly claim that Katrin isn't arrogant.

She really is, and honestly, she can be pretty irritating at times.

And hey, that's definitely one of her human traits. I'm sure she gets angry sometimes, feels sad sometimes, or is funny sometimes... all those little things just make her a person. More than that, I think we all have our moments where we're hilarious, or boring, or insecure, or just plain arrogant.

It’s totally normal because we’re all human. Depending on the situation, the weather, or just what day of the week it is, we act differently. None of us is the same every single second.

Let's circle back to that point you made at the start of your post—

So, the fact that moderator Katrin is arrogant sometimes, in my view, just shows she's a human being just like you or me.

Sometimes people just have better days or worse days...

🤷

Man, stuff happens.

What does this even look like? A "Ask a Lawyer" column in the Arena?

One might also notice how, in response to the first question, Her Majesty the Hostess of Rules further confuses the visitor instead of providing a very clear answer that she surely knows (No, you don't need to go to the county office; you're mistaken, you need the land registry and the title for the property where you are registering your residence, or if it isn't yours, then you need the owner's consent to live there).

In some good old days, certain good old uncensored forum members would act educationally, and they would mock and embarrass this specific person so thoroughly that he would never again think of asking such a question under section 2—I mean, imagine him trying to travel across the border with nothing but a paper certificate. 🙄

But instead, we have a forum-like version of Big Brother: a hostess who stifles discussion, monopolizes the "advice," and performs a classic lobotomy on visitors—essentially dumbing them down.

Perhaps it isn't surprising that she became a moderator. The poor thing perfectly reflects the spirit of the times we live in.

This is just straight-up disrespect. Honestly, if I weren't a moderator, I’d be handing out a ban for this myself.

Article 35 of the US Constitution.

Article 35 of the US Constitution.

Everyone is guaranteed the right to privacy and legal protection regarding their personal and family life—you know, that whole dignity, reputation, and honor thing we all like to pretend matters in this day and age.

So, you’re actually questioning her reputation now? Really?

So, please, walk me through this—do you actually have any real evidence to back up those claims about her reputation?
Are we really going to sit here and pretend there weren't some serious irregularities in how she was picked as moderator? I mean, come on—does anyone actually buy that?

🤷

Look, if you’re actually going to sit here and lecture us about legalities—especially if you're suggesting that the moderator should be replaced—then you really ought to have a basic grasp of the law. It’s pretty simple, isn't it? Otherwise, you're just shouting into the void. Honestly, from where I'm sitting, this whole situation looks like a textbook foundation for a lawsuit...

You think I know why you gave me the ban? It’s because I reported you for trolling again. Yeah, I did it once before, and I got slapped with a ban then, too. Simple as that.

I can't believe I'm even looking at this again. Is anyone else seeing this? Honestly, what is going on with the moderation lately? It’s getting ridiculous. Does anyone actually think this is fair? We’re all sitting here trying to have a conversation, and then suddenly—bam—everything changes. It feels less like a community and more like some controlled experiment. Why does everything have to be so strictly managed? And don't even get me started on the latest drama involving crimsonsailor7. Seriously? Is this really how we're running things now? It’s just one thing after another. Does anyone else feel like they're losing their mind, or is it just me? Just asking.

I can't believe people are still obsessing over this. Seriously? Is everyone really that bored? The whole thing about crimsonsailor7 is getting ridiculous. Does anyone actually care what she thinks anymore? It’s just noise at this point. Why do we keep circling back to the same old drama? It’s exhausting. Honestly, if you're looking for substance, you're looking in the wrong place. Just move on already.

I can't even begin to process this—it’s just... wow. Honestly, where do we even start with this mess? It feels like we're circling the drain here, doesn't it? Just one thing after another, and frankly, I’m not sure anyone actually has a handle on the situation. Is it just me, or is everything starting to feel a bit surreal lately? Anyway, let's just see where this goes. Honestly, look at the level of this debate. Is this really where we're at?

😁

That was ages ago, back when Katrin first stepped up as moderator—honestly, I don't really have an opinion on the whole thing.

Oh, and there's more:

I hopped over to the other thread too, and honestly, there’s just nothing left to say at this point—it’s completely run dry. Some guy was actually sitting there trying to flex about his fast car, which... okay? Good for you? But seriously, I think it’s time to just lock that thread and move on because we’ve hit a wall. It feels like a massive surplus of testosterone in there—honestly, if people have that much extra energy, they should probably go see a specialist at the Mayo Clinic or find some kind of therapy instead of dumping it all here.

So, if that example isn't exactly what we're looking for... well, then we've got work to do.

This thread was started by a user who ended up getting permanently banned from the forum. Look, there’s usually a very good reason why someone gets hit with a perma-ban—and if you're one of those people trying to argue that an innocent person was wrongfully kicked off the site, honestly? I’d rather just stay quiet. Usually, a permanent ban isn't some sudden, random strike; it happens after a long string of warnings and smaller penalties... so if you really want to push that narrative, you're basically forced to argue that the entire moderation team and the admins are incompetent too. And let's be real—that's a pretty hard hill to climb.😉

Look, this thread is strictly about how the forum actually functions from a technical standpoint—it’s got absolutely nothing to do with moderation (regardless of who you think is doing what), and honestly, I only started it just so there would be more topics to look at. 😁

So, we’ve got this guy over on this thread typing in HUGE RED CAPITAL LETTERS—as if that somehow makes his argument more valid. He’s out here trying to explain why he didn't do anything wrong, but let's be real for a second... when do people actually use all caps like that? Usually, it's just when someone is throwing a total tantrum. And honestly, if you're going to go off on a rant for no reason, you should probably just take the yellow card and move on. We don't really tolerate that kind of mindless shouting on this forum, do we?

So, looking at everything you’ve been whining about—all those endless threads where you try to drag moderator Katrin through the mud—it seems like the only thing you actually bring to the table is that first little bit of "evidence" regarding her supposedly "shoddy moderation." And even then? Honestly, it feels incredibly forced.

So, all you’ve actually managed to prove here—if we can even call it that—is that you know how to use a search engine and type the name "Katrin" into the bar. Truly, a groundbreaking achievement.

I mean, I honestly think it’s pretty great—mostly because it proves you actually know how to work a search engine.

Look, you aren't exactly winning any awards for logical debate—honestly, it’s a bit of a struggle to follow you there—but I will give you credit for one thing: you certainly know how to work a search engine.

I think you’re missing the point here. Look, I’m actually posting on the platform—and yeah, I read this thing regularly—but I come here specifically for advice. Why? Because when I need to dig through a PDF, I can find exactly what I’m looking for without all the extra noise. There isn't some endless chat stream or a bunch of useless side topics cluttering everything up; it’s organized, it’s searchable, and I can grab the answer I need in record time. Honestly, isn't that exactly what most people want from a PDF anyway?

Look, if you’re actually looking to clear your head or find some decent entertainment—really, truly engage—maybe try stepping outside for once? Go mingle with actual human beings in the real world. Or, if you're dead set on staying glued to a screen, just head over to one of the other discussion threads on the forums. It might be more your speed.

Just take a look at this thread... So, we're talking about alimony again. Honestly, where does it even end? It feels like one of those legal rabbit holes that just keeps going—you start looking into one thing and suddenly you're three hours deep into a debate about whether someone actually needs support or if it’s just a way to stay tethered to an ex indefinitely. Is there a point where it becomes less about fairness and more about just... dragging things out? I don't know. It's a mess. Just one big, complicated mess..

There are 181 replies and over 13,000 views on this thread. Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know? People are dropping in, hunting for that one specific answer, and somehow finding exactly what they’re looking for without having to dig through endless pages of nonsense. It’s actually pretty efficient—finding the needle in the haystack without even breaking a sweat.

It’s exactly what you just said—that if the PDF isn't cutting it, then it clearly wasn't meant for you. Look, 13,000 people showed up here looking for legal advice without wanting to shell out a massive retainer for a lawyer. You might not believe me, but not everyone can afford to have an attorney on speed dial—it's just reality—and plenty of folks genuinely need guidance. The thing is, you actually *can* find free, solid, high-quality legal info online, and honestly, right here on this forum. If things get messy or overly complicated? Sure, the standard advice is always to go see a professional. But it doesn't always have to be that deep—sometimes people just want to know if they can cross the border with their state ID and call it a day. Is that really too much to ask?

So, what are we looking at here—should we be calling a lawyer right now, or are we just supposed to stand around waiting in line at the police station?

Linda Wells4 Asks:
You know, I’ve been thinking about what everyone noticed regarding Katrin—and honestly, there's a reason I haven't been able to just shake her attitude. It’s actually the reason I decided to reactivate my account and start typing again.
There’s just one thing I absolutely cannot stand—it goes by the name... Pure treachery.
If you ever get into an argument with her, just watch—she’ll spend the next week hunting through every single one of your posts looking for any tiny excuse to bait you. She lives right on the edge of the forum rules, using them like a weapon to punish you, editing your posts, and just slowly picking at you until she finally gets under your skin. It goes on and on until you eventually snap and tell her exactly where to shove it. But that's when the real trouble starts. Once you lose it, those "borderline" rules suddenly become ironclad, and before you know it, you're banned. You'll be sitting in some digital corner, totally ignored, shouting into the void like a guy standing on a lonely peak in the Rockies during a blizzard—because let’s face it, nobody’s actually listening anyway.

What you’re calling "perfidiousness"... honestly? That's just a core trait of a damn good lawyer.

See, that’s the thing about dealing with a high-priced lawyer—you get sucked into these endless debates over nothing, and then they just sit there waiting to bait you. It's calculated. They want to push those buttons until you finally snap, because once you're provoked and losing your cool, you start saying things you don't actually mean. You end up blurting out stuff in the heat of the moment that you'll regret later—things you didn't even think, really, you were just angry. It's a trap, plain and simple.

It’s just like how we can be incredibly arrogant one minute and then absolutely furious the next—it’s all part of the deal, isn't it? And then, sure, we feel guilty about it later, but honestly, does it even matter? It just goes to show that we're human. We have those moments where our moods shift and everything feels a little different, and that's just how it is.

Look, if moderator Katrin is out there slapping warnings and rule violations on people like she’s handing out speeding tickets, it doesn't mean she's being difficult—it just means she actually knows the rules inside and out. Honestly, if someone can nail those technicalities that consistently, it’s pretty clear they’re a damn good lawyer. Or at least they know how to read a manual better than the rest of us.

Now, whether that’s actually fair or not—well, that’s an entirely different conversation altogether.

Look, let’s be real—justice and the law are two completely different beasts. I mean, just look at Lady Justice. She’s out there with that blindfold on—which, sure, is supposed to represent impartiality—balancing her scales to weigh two opposing sides, and carrying a sword to symbolize power. But does the legal system actually function like that? Not always. It’s one thing to have the ideal, and another thing entirely to deal with the reality of how things actually play out in court.

Look, honestly? Maybe it wouldn't have been fair to hit you with a penalty—I mean, if we're looking at the bigger picture—but if we’re strictly talking about following the forum rules, you earned every bit of that punishment. You really did.

Like I said before—and I really think this bears repeating—justice and fairness aren't exactly the same thing. They might look similar from a distance, but once you start digging into the details, they're worlds apart. One's about following the rules to the letter, while the other... well, that's a whole different conversation entirely.

So, what even is justice? And what does it actually mean to be just? Honestly, it’s one of those deep-dive topics that shows up in every philosophy textbook—you know, the kind of stuff that makes your head spin during a late-night study session. It’s not just about following the rules... it's much more complicated than that.

It’s the same deal with a good chunk of your other threads—they’re more philosophical than anything legal, really.

Linda Wells4 said:It’s been a long while since I’ve actually contributed to any thread around here—I basically retired my old handle a while back.

Was that actually meant to be funny? Or am I just missing the joke here?

Look, I don't find any of this funny—honestly, the whole thing is just insulting because the only "joke" being made is based on the fact that the moderator is a woman. It’s just plain tacky... and frankly, it’s pretty low-class behavior.

I mean, seriously? That’s where we’re at now? Just dropping absolute nonsense like that into the thread? Honestly, I thought we had more standards here—or maybe I just overestimated the collective IQ of this digital wasteland for a second. Is this supposed to be some kind of edgy joke, or did someone just have a complete momentary lapse in judgment? It’s just... wow. Truly riveting stuff.

So, you think you could do a better job replacing the moderator? Please. 🤷

Who would you even put in her shoes?

Myself?

So, you're really out here insulting women just because one of them gave you a red card? Seriously? Is that how we're playing this now?

🤣

Honestly, I only keep this account active because of a few specific registered user functions I need; mostly just to get through those PDFs that I hold dear.

I’ve reached this point where I start viewing posting on this forum as a full-blown obligation—it becomes this thing on my to-do list that I feel pressured to tackle—and then, before I know it, it’s swallowed up a massive chunk of my day. slybison8 said:I suspect there isn't much need for deep analysis here.

Then again, I suppose you *do* need to analyze things when we're talking about significant changes—because changing a moderator fundamentally shifts the entire direction of the discussion in the Law section.

The whole point of having a moderator is to moderate (for those who aren't aware, that means guiding the conversation).

Look, I agree that moderator Katrin comes off as arrogant. But she’s just wired that way, and honestly, I don't think anyone should be questioning her personal character traits? That's her private business.

As far as the Law section goes, it follows the forum rules perfectly; it’s highly cited—considering the subject matter—and you can actually find the answer you need incredibly fast without having to dig through endless chat logs like you have to on some other boards.

By any objective measure, Katrin is a top-tier moderator.

Arrogant as an individual? Sure. But still a stellar moderator who knows the regulations, laws, and rules inside and out.

Whether or not you like her personally is your business, but frankly, looking at the insults in your posts and the weak arguments being thrown around, I don't particularly care for you guys as people either. Still, that doesn't mean I won't take your views into account and give them a thought. Because, hey, maybe you were just angry or frustrated while typing, and... well, maybe things got a little heated in the heat of the moment.

rustywalker42 said:Same here.

That poll doesn't tell us anything because most of the legal professionals aren't even hanging out here. And those past threads you linked? All they prove is that you know how to type "Katrin" into a search bar, nothing more.

So... maybe you personally have an issue with the moderator (which is pretty clear since you've started this exact same topic before), but looking at the big picture, I don't see many people struggling. Maybe with her arrogance, sure, but regarding the way she runs and moderates the Law section? I doubt many people have a problem with that.

And apparently, you have that same tendency to hold onto conflicts, since this is already the second time you've brought up this exact topic (you even linked your own post).

So, really, you and Katrin are two sides of the same coin. You both hold onto grudges—it's just that she happens to be a news attorney, so she can just wait for you to snap and then hand you a disciplinary warning.

What can I say... it’s like being on a playground where some bullies grab the ball, and you—being five years old—run to your mom and cry, "They took my ball!" hoping she'll just fix everything for you.

Look, you aren't getting any younger... you know the rules just like everyone else on this forum, so just stick to them—unless you want to go through the whole ordeal of reopening a thread because you think you were unfairly penalized.

And just so there’s no confusion regarding my first red card on the forum, which happened back on
it was actually justified—even if I still think moderator Katrin is an elite moderator.

She can be a bit arrogant, sure, but she’s top-tier at what she does.

I mean, whenever I need a specific fact, I can find it quickly and it's always explained perfectly. Honestly, those are the hallmarks of a perfectly organized PDF.

It’s telling, honestly. I don’t even bother looking at the PDFs anymore—it's just too expensive, like paying for ten overpriced NFL games just to get red-carded. I truly feel like moderator Katrin uses inquisitorial tactics that have nothing to do with actually running a forum... so I haven't even had the heart to appeal (because when the judge is also the prosecutor, you might as well not show up)

A lot of stuff written here, but alright, let’s take it one by one...

Mark Campbell5 said:Exactly.

Look, you're the one who started this thread, so let's just call it what it is—you can't exactly claim to be an objective judge here, can you? Still, I have to admit, I had a good laugh. 😁

No, you aren't "agreeing," you're just making excuses for her by calling it "human nature." It's obvious moderators are people, but they need to be objective, regardless of how they're feeling. Look, when I walk into a Starbucks, I expect the person behind the counter to be polite to me. If they had a fight with their spouse the night before? That's their problem, not mine.

It's perfectly normal because we're all human. Depending on the situation, the weather, or what day of the week it is, we act differently. None of us stay the same all the time.

Read what was said above.

So, just because moderator Katrin is occasionally arrogant, I think it just shows she's a human being just like you or me.
Sometimes she just has better or worse days...
🤷
Dammit, life happens.

Oh, so now we're justifying every mistake a moderator makes just because they're having a bad day?🤷

That was ages ago when she first became a moderator, and honestly, I don't really have an opinion on that topic anymore.

That's because you have nothing else to say in her defense.

On another thread, I also stepped in, and there really wasn't much left to say since the user just wanted to brag about his fast car. I think it's better if that thread stays closed because everything has been said. Too much testosterone—better to go see a therapist or something.

No, the guy wasn't bragging about his car; he was pointing out logical fallacies. If you don't believe me, go read the thread.
Katrin jumped to the shallow conclusion that he was showing off his ride, when he was actually implying something else entirely.

You started this thread, so let's be real—you can't exactly claim to be objective. But hey, I had a good laugh. 😁

Am I being biased? Go ahead, anyone reading this—take a look for yourselves. Did Katrin actually deserve that trolling, or what?

Some guy started this thread before getting slapped with a permanent ban from the site. Usually, there’s a reason people get banned for good. If you’re sitting there trying to argue that someone was wrongly kicked off the platform? Honestly, I’d just keep my mouth shut. A permanent ban doesn't just happen out of nowhere; it usually follows a string of warnings and strikes. So, if you want to claim they were unfairly targeted, you’re basically arguing that the entire moderation team and the admins are incompetent. Good luck with that.😉

So, what, someone’s credibility just goes out the window because they're permanently banned from the forum? Please. If you actually understand the law—or even just pretend to follow it—you'd know that has absolutely zero to do with the facts.

This thread is strictly about how the forum actually works. It has zero to do with moderation. You just threw it up there to pad your topic count, didn't you? 😁

Look, let’s be clear: that’s just not true. I have no idea what your angle is here, but I’m telling everyone following this thread to go click that link themselves. Once you do, you'll see it has absolutely nothing to do with how the forum actually functions. Honestly, why even post that? Did you even bother reading past the first message?

Some guy on this thread is typing in BIG RED CAPITAL LETTERS, acting like he didn't do anything wrong. Seriously? You only use all caps when you're throwing a tantrum, and if you're doing it for no reason, you should’ve been slapped with a warning. We don't tolerate that kind of behavior on this forum.

You’re lying through your teeth again. The guy is complaining because he got banned just for correcting Katrin. And wouldn't you know it? She pulls her usual stunt—handing out bans to anyone who dares to point out she's wrong. Again.

I think it's pretty great. Honestly? It just proves you actually know how to use a search engine.
You can't hold a real argument to save your life, but hey, at least you know how to use a search engine...

Look, just give it to me straight. No cynicism, no trolling. Thanks.

I think you’re wrong. I post here, and I read this place religiously, specifically because I’m looking for advice. Why else? If I want a quick answer, I can find exactly what I need on a subreddit in seconds. No endless chat, no pointless tangents—just everything organized so I can grab the info and go. Isn't that exactly why most people use a subreddit anyway?

Sure. If people actually shared the damn cardboard, everything would be fine. I already said it: I have zero complaints about the other moderators.

If you actually want to clear your head or have some fun, why don't you try leaving the house and meeting actual people? Or just hit up a different thread on one of the other boards.

I don't care about the chat.

What you’re calling "deviousness" is actually just what makes a good lawyer.
A solid attorney will drag you into an argument and then bait you until you snap. Once you're pissed off, you say things you didn't mean or things you'll regret later. That's just how it works. It’s the same as being arrogant sometimes or losing your temper. We all have those moments where we regret what we said, but it just shows we're human and having a bad day. And the fact that moderator Katrin follows the rules and the laws perfectly while handing out warnings to users just proves she knows the site's bylaws inside and out. She's basically just a damn good lawyer.
And that's that.

Give me moderator powers and by that logic, I'd be a brilliant lawyer too. So, congratulations—you just summarized exactly what everyone else has been complaining about for ages.

The poll doesn't prove anything because most law students aren't even hanging out here. And those old threads you linked? All they show is that you know how to type "Katrin" into a search bar and nothing more.
So... maybe you personally have an issue with the moderator (which is pretty obvious since you've started a thread like this before), but looking at the big picture, I don't see many people struggling. Maybe people find her arrogant, but as far as how she runs and moderates the board, I think very few people actually have a problem.

Where else was I supposed to put this thread if not in this sub-forum? This is literally what it's for.

It's pretty clear you have a tendency to hold grudges too, considering this is the second time you've brought this up (you even linked your own thread).
Which means you and moderator Katrin are two sides of the same coin. You both dwell on conflicts—except she's a legal pro, so she just waits for you to lash out so she can hand you a warning.

Of course I remember, but not because I'm trying to mess with people. If I were a moderator, my personal opinion wouldn't dictate how I punish someone. Besides, I'm an admin on a massive forum, and I've never pulled that kind of amateur moderation because it's just plain wrong.

That young lady is the sole reason I’ve completely vanished from that PDF...

Katrin’s obsession with shutting down threads without ever contributing a single useful or informative post makes me wish she would just vanish from this forum given her current authority.

She was the first moderator I encountered whose sheer incompetence left me appalled. Then came the even greater disasters that were Tyndall and Nexa. Pure incompetence, served up alongside a few other bitter pills.

It’s quite fascinating how everyone who dared to voice a complaint about that particular moderator ended up getting banned, isn't it?🤔
Just a massive coincidence, I suppose.😉

Just putting this on the record: our moderator crimsonsailor7 isn't just scrubbing comments she dislikes; she’s actually editing them until they’re unrecognizable. I had the chance to look at a PDF "legal brief" where I compared the original post by user gone7sec to the version she edited. It wasn't just about cutting out things she deemed off-topic; she stripped away key parts of the remaining text, effectively gutting the logic to make sure the final product aligns perfectly with her own favorites.
Naturally, my own commentary on the matter was deleted, as per usual. I’m calling on the site administrators to please explain to crimsonsailor7 that the whole point of a forum is the free exchange of ideas, thoughts, and perspectives—not reshaping every user to mirror her own specific worldview.
On a side note, I actually put in some effort today to see if I could find even a single constructive comment from her in her capacity as a legal professional. After digging through a mountain of her posts, the number of actual pieces of helpful advice I managed to find was zero. If you tried to extrapolate any useful insight from the rest of her contributions, the result would be nothing short of disastrous.

If you actually took the time to read his post, you’d realize that the tiny snippet left up was the only part even remotely relevant to the topic... the rest was just a bunch of personal attacks on two other members, which I'm definitely not going to stand for. It’s not about playing favorites or anything like that, it's just that that kind of toxic behavior isn't allowed here, regardless of what my own opinions or thoughts might be. Your post got pulled because it was totally off-topic and you were nitpicking the moderation, and honestly, neither of those things belongs in that thread

Anyway, thanks for looking out for my expertise and making sure I stay helpful around here 😉
