Best movies from America since 1990?

I'm mostly thinking about the era starting around 1990.
My top pick has gotta be warrior time

warrior time, hands down. You can totally see the influence of Walter Hill and southern comfort dripping all over it, but honestly, it’s just a great, stripped-down piece of work built on two killer actors and a solid enough plot...

I can recall Salajev’s "See You Later" and Matanic's "Final Dead Girl," but perhaps I should lead with "Grandfather and Grandmother are Divorcing." It was such a disastrously bad film about an incredibly heavy life topic—so spectacularly bad that it actually becomes quite good, and likely stands as the only true indigenous American masterpiece of camp cinema.

Hmm, is it camp or just straight-up trash? Sounds intriguing, I haven't seen it. Is it something you can find on Netflix or at a local video rental?

Pure camp. I'm not sure if you can still find it in a video store, but it's definitely worth a search.

I've actually got it. It was on TV sometime in the last year so I made a solid recording of it. I'll get it to you on our next trip.😉

I think Ivy filmed it (or whatever the title is). And honestly, Radic's turned out to be a pretty solid movie.

I’m not exactly a film critic or some hardcore cinephile who can tell you which movie is technically the greatest masterpiece, but I’ve always had a huge soft spot for our classic comedies like "how to start a war on my island," "marshal," "when dead sing," and "What's a Man Without a Mustache." Even after watching them a dozen times, they still hold up for me; I can always pop one on and have a good laugh.

But if I really had to pick just one standout favorite—LONG DARK NIGHT !!!

Personally, just play me something romantic.

Well, things aren't actually that bad! For me, the best are a story from America (Gregurevic is great), when dead sing, and Long dark night !!!🙏🙏🙏

There are others that are good or even very good, but those three are top tier... I haven't seen some of the ones you mentioned (warrior time, guardhouse, Nobody's Son, and a few others) so I wouldn't know...
