cosmicseal5 said:Look, I’m asking straight up: are you actually going to file a formal complaint against this guy or what? It’s totally your call, obviously, but I honestly don't know if you realize that once you go that route, you aren't just some anonymous face on an internet forum anymore—you’re officially stepping out from behind the screen and putting your actual name and reputation on the line.

Look, I’m already a person with a name and a face, so far as I'm concerned. That doesn't bother me one bit.
stormygull67 said:And what exactly will I write? Something like: "It appears that an anonymous user under the handle 'this and that' is threatening me, also anonymously. Please identify who is hiding behind these handles and provide the necessary information—specifically, let us know the exact details so we can file a proper report."

No. I wrote exactly what I intended to ask; I don't see the point of your post at all.

Anyway, since I've already talked to the admins, I'm just waiting for them to look into this mess.

I already explained to Angie why that wasn't just some minor oversight—and I’ll say it again. The individual in question churned out several posts in a row that were, to put it mildly... absolutely horrific. On his very last post, I handed him 500 points for "overall impression." It’s not like I missed the sheer lack of backbone in his arguments, or that I was simply choosing to look the other way.

So how am I supposed to get an A if I'm telling someone like that that I feel bad for them?

That post is still up, by the way. You could have at least deleted it.

Still waiting on an answer from the admins here...

To me, though—and I might be wrong here—this looks more like inciting an insurrection against the U.S. constitutional order, so maybe that *is* something the authorities prosecute automatically.

And then you've got briskorca19, who is apparently willing to report it personally as a direct threat.

I once had this whole mess on another forum with some anonymous nutcase who totally crossed the line....
I actually went down to the police station with everything printed out—all the proof of what he did. The detective was actually pretty decent about it; he listened to me like a normal human being, though he seemed almost shocked that stuff like this even happens. I was like 99% sure I knew exactly who he was (full name and everything), but I asked them for official confirmation first so I could potentially go after him privately too.
The thing is, our legal system hadn't really accounted for anonymous threats sent via email (the guy barely understood how the internet or email worked, to be honest), so he ended up calling the District Attorney's office and pointing me toward them.
I handed all my paperwork over to a friend of mine who works there... and I haven't heard a peep in six months. Not that I went chasing them for updates or anything, but the jerk finally backed off from me and a bunch of other women on those forums. Honestly, I think he’s probably still sitting there waiting for someone to eventually knock on his door. 👍

If you're still lurking around here, hey, stay safe, crazy. 😉

You aren't allowed to insult anyone—even maniacs. Why would we want to make more of a mess on this forum than they already have?

I’m just going to hand this whole package over to the administration. Let them argue with you and hash it out; I honestly don't have the energy left for this, despite my best intentions.

I am sticking to my original position: that wasn't a post intended as a threat toward a female forum member, but rather an attempt by a defender fighting for his country—the one where he's raising his six children... though certainly not the version of America that a few of you seem to imagine in your heads. He simply stated that he wouldn't without a fight allow something unnatural to be forced upon him as if it were natural, when it actually equates the animalistic with the human. A man still considers himself a man, not an animal. 🤷

That’s all from me. I'm handing this off now, so you can deal with them... Nothing personal, either. Best. 🙂

You make a fair point, rowdyhawk10... you've got me there this time.🙂 The post isn't an insult. One needs to read the whole thing instead of just picking out selective parts.
But doing that requires time and slowing down a bit.🙂
That doesn't mean I won't complain about the current state of the religion.😁 It is absolutely catastrophic.👎

Instead of just complaining, why not offer some actual suggestions on how we can make this forum better?

We're throwing open the floor for some deep-dive philosophical and religious debates—both the open kind and the structured variety.
It’s basically like those formal debate formats you see on TV, but without all the annoying timers or being told we can only post a certain number of times.

We actually tried running some debates... but so far, nobody has stepped up to the plate.

Nicole James....😁 you know exactly how this works. I really hope I don't have to walk you through it step-by-step.🙂 Just imagine... if I went over to an ESPN football thread and posted something like this...
It's primitive entertainment.😂 Aimless chasing. You're all wasting your time on a hollow game. A poor investment of precious hours.😲😂
So, people pay admission just to watch a ball get kicked around, only to have everyone just charge blindly at it once they arrive?????????😂 Is there any logic to it?
It’s simply an outdated... intolerant form of entertainment, discriminatory because it doesn't allow everyone the chance to chase the ball.
And it has its own set of rules.🤷 How terrible.😲
Or... perhaps another example?👍 Tell me, which specific subreddit am I allowed to crash like that?😁

As far as I'm aware, there are two forum members who use that kind of rhetoric, and both of them have quite a nice collection of bans and deleted posts thanks to me.
I can't exactly show up at their houses and take their computers away...

So, yeah... he got banned because of the overall vibe of the post.
Though if you ask me, the whole thing should’ve just been deleted entirely.
It’s honestly such a bummer that rowdyhawk10 didn't even bother reading my appeal, because then he comes back later asking me questions I already laid out clearly in the actual appeal.
And hey, Lisa Ortiz2, nobody ever actually said the post was offensive.
Maybe try reading with a bit more nuance next time?🙄
I really think we need a dedicated sub-forum just for Religion; that way, people can talk about faith without everyone jumping in to meddle—kind of like how those of us posting in the Religion section usually stay out of the Spirituality discussions.
Religion and spirituality are two different animals.
Anyway, that's my two cents.

It isn't just Nicole James; those folks are regularly tearing apart the religion sub-forum.😲
It’s worth noting that we aren't talking about a game or some scorekeeping here—for those who hold actual faith, this is life itself.
Not a single sub-forum is as aggressive or stifling as that one. It's become a dumping ground for everyone's personal frustrations.
There are probably entire sections of this site where I would never dream of posting... I simply stay away.🙂
What sort of void are they trying to fill by attacking religion?😁
The religion section is pure anarchy right now.
And that is precisely why I choose to remain silent there.👎

We have already addressed the matter of spirituality. I suppose one has to wonder if a forum actually needs a subforum that functions like a church. I believe I explained this to cosmicseal5 previously—we simply cannot turn a religion subforum into a sanctuary within a digital space like this. www.catholics.org , I suppose this website might be worth looking into, though I can't say for certain what one might find there. It seems like just another corner of the internet. I suppose there isn't much more to say on the matter. www.orthodoxy.org Our subforum shouldn't be a place where atheists are penalized simply because they refuse to subscribe to a specific dogma. For instance, we shouldn't be banning someone just because they express doubt regarding the Quran, the Bible, or Jesus, or even various other deities. I think the forum should allow for free expression from every individual, provided they don't cross the line into personal attacks. In my opinion, we should probably apply stricter penalties when it comes to bringing discussions down to a personal level—like trolling or insults—specifically when it's the same person repeatedly doing it. That might actually solve a lot of our problems.

It isn't anarchy, Lisa Ortiz2.
If you only knew the sheer volume of work we deal with... being a moderator for the religion section means seeing firsthand just how much content we have to scrub, especially all those posts that start poking into other people's business. Personality. If there were less trolling and fewer outright insults, I suppose things might be a bit clearer. Furthermore, with my own... By remaining silent. I suppose you aren't going to actually solve anything by staying silent on the forum. It honestly surprises me that you’re being this stubborn about it. I mean, surely you realize it's better to just post and then deal with any fallout as it happens? Any post that breaks the rules can be reported, and since the moderation team has been beefed up, we should be able to get to every report eventually. However, we don't always see everything people write the very moment they post it. Most forum users... They aren't reporting it. I suppose these posts are somewhat unnecessary—though I should probably give credit where it's due to the few people actually reporting them. It does suggest they care about maintaining the quality of our forum, I guess. Regards.

Exactly. That is precisely why there is so much deleting going on.

rowdyhawk10... relying solely on reports isn't enough to moderate properly.🙂 We really should have stepped in long ago to prevent the kind of issues that are now incredibly difficult to fix.👎
Are there enough moderators? Why not just recruit five, ten more... I don't know... call in Samadhi... he could probably handle it all himself😍, steelskipper5🙂, but you still have to actually read the threads. 🙂
I don't report posts... honestly, rowdyhawk10. But I have spent a significant amount of time on this forum...🙂
I wouldn't anymore... though I will naturally return once I feel the atmosphere on the religion board becomes a little bit more pleasant and welcoming again.
I am feeling quite cold today.😲😁

I have a serious proposal for you all🙂
Those little triangles... people aren't just using them as support anymore; they've practically become the entire foundation. Honestly, I think we should just scrap them entirely.😍>
Furthermore, I’d suggest offering the moderation team a bit more variety.🙂How about bringing in two staunch Christians—perhaps Hi Fi, Walnut, or John Doe😍—alongside that one sharp-witted atheist😍...I'll dig up his username in a moment, but he writes quite effectively on the topic of religion.
Anyone who contributes to a thread while simultaneously undermining its purpose should be removed by the moderators. If everyone is granted unlimited rights without any sense of restraint or mutual respect, we’re simply heading straight toward anarchy and lawlessness.
I'll follow up with that smart atheist's username🙂 later today.
Is that enough for you, Nicole James? And for heaven's sake, please clear out that ridiculous thread over in the religion section.😂>
