We have already addressed the matter of spirituality. I suppose one has to wonder if a forum actually needs a subforum that functions like a church. I believe I explained this to cosmicseal5 previously—we simply cannot turn a religion subforum into a sanctuary within a digital space like this. www.catholics.org , I suppose this website might be worth looking into, though I can't say for certain what one might find there. It seems like just another corner of the internet. I suppose there isn't much more to say on the matter. www.orthodoxy.org Our subforum shouldn't be a place where atheists are penalized simply because they refuse to subscribe to a specific dogma. For instance, we shouldn't be banning someone just because they express doubt regarding the Quran, the Bible, or Jesus, or even various other deities. I think the forum should allow for free expression from every individual, provided they don't cross the line into personal attacks. In my opinion, we should probably apply stricter penalties when it comes to bringing discussions down to a personal level—like trolling or insults—specifically when it's the same person repeatedly doing it. That might actually solve a lot of our problems.

Quote: Good or Evil

It isn't anarchy, Lisa Ortiz2.
If you only knew the sheer volume of work we deal with... being a moderator for the religion section means seeing firsthand just how much content we have to scrub, especially all those posts that start poking into other people's business. Personality. If there were less trolling and fewer outright insults, I suppose things might be a bit clearer. Furthermore, with my own... By remaining silent. I suppose you aren't going to actually solve anything by staying silent on the forum. It honestly surprises me that you’re being this stubborn about it. I mean, surely you realize it's better to just post and then deal with any fallout as it happens? Any post that breaks the rules can be reported, and since the moderation team has been beefed up, we should be able to get to every report eventually. However, we don't always see everything people write the very moment they post it. Most forum users... They aren't reporting it. I suppose these posts are somewhat unnecessary—though I should probably give credit where it's due to the few people actually reporting them. It does suggest they care about maintaining the quality of our forum, I guess. Regards.

rowdyhawk10, aren't you supposed to be a moderator?
Then why haven't you started doing it yet?

Most users don't report indecent posts (so much respect to the tiny handful who actually do, since it shows they give a damn about keeping this forum decent). Cheers.

Second point. 😉

rowdyhawk10... relying solely on reports isn't enough to moderate properly.🙂 We really should have stepped in long ago to prevent the kind of issues that are now incredibly difficult to fix.👎
Are there enough moderators? Why not just recruit five, ten more... I don't know... call in Samadhi... he could probably handle it all himself😍, steelskipper5🙂, but you still have to actually read the threads. 🙂
I don't report posts... honestly, rowdyhawk10. But I have spent a significant amount of time on this forum...🙂
I wouldn't anymore... though I will naturally return once I feel the atmosphere on the religion board becomes a little bit more pleasant and welcoming again.
I am feeling quite cold today.😲😁

I guess we can finally agree on something for once—just the two of us. 😁

Religion forums are volatile—not quite as much as Politics, but they aren't exactly far off either—and they definitely need active moderation. Reacting to reports is basically just firefighting at that point. I mean, sure, maybe the need for those emergency measures won't totally vanish once people start moderating more proactively, but eventually, the forum might actually become a decent place for a discussion.

Hey, steelskipper5... when is spring finally going to get here?😁 This snow is making it impossible to breathe.😲
What does "consistency" even mean to you? Applying the exact same yardstick to everything? That just isn't possible.😁
Take my situation, for example... I have to head back into that exhausting internship again.😁 Parenting is a pretty substantial topic. But... am I allowed to write about pregnant cats or mares there? Really? No matter how professionally one writes about it.😂

it isn't even about having more moderators running around handing out warnings or bans, though that’s always an option, it’s more about the fact that if you actually want to have a decent conversation in a specific subforum, you should probably put in a little effort to make sure that space is actually worth hanging out in and comfortable for everyone involved

Right... so everyone else is just to blame, huh?😁 Look, my friend, you're acting like a true big-city elitist.🙂 Tell me, aren't 6,500 posts in a single thread enough to give anyone pause?
🙂
But when the foundation starts cracking... and the floodwaters begin to rise, everyone scrambles for high ground.
And I agree. A moderator should focus on guiding the direction of the conversation and maintaining quality. Penalties should always be the absolute last resort—it's a heavy-handed and unpopular way to manage things.

How boring, you little swallow. 🙂 As I’ve already pointed out, you won't actually be satisfied if you manage to drive all the believers away from the religion. They are essentially the salt of the earth. 😉
Religion is a volatile forum—not quite as much as Politics, but certainly not far behind—and it requires proactive moderation. Responding to reports is just firefighting; it's reactive. While it's true that the need for such measures might decrease once moderation becomes more active, over time, the forum will eventually become a much more pleasant place for discussion.

Good grief. 🙂 At least you're an advocate for it, 😂 even if you aren't a true believer yourself.
I am in complete agreement regarding more active moderation. Here... let me offer you my support. And of course... I suspect you would be a very strict moderator yourself. 😍

Go jump in a lake, you three. 😂

Why is everyone always looking for someone to blame?
Wouldn't it be a lot more productive if everyone just pitched in? Or at least those people who actually give a damn about having a cleaner, better neighborhood to live in, right?
🙂
Personally, I’ve always found it much more rewarding to actually hunt for a solution rather than wasting my breath hunting for scapegoats.

Spoken like a true optimist.🙂
Helping to make something better is a noble mission, and I certainly have no intention of tearing things down.😁
But let's get real for a second... can you really call everything a "mother"? 😁 Is there even a single thread on a parenting forum discussing her role?😁
No single institution in America has been scrutinized or criticized quite as heavily as religion. So, tell me—are you still planning on helping?😍

Look, I can jump in and play firefighter whenever things get heated, but I can't be on moderation duty twenty-four seven, especially since I don't know the ins and outs of this specific sub-forum well enough to do the job properly.
This is really where you see the true caliber of our community members shine—the ones who won't let some random tourists come in with their nonsense, derailing the conversation or trying to stir up unnecessary drama and division.
If someone starts acting out and everyone else just goes along with it, then by the time a moderator actually shows up, the only move left is to hand out warnings and bans to everyone involved and just shut the whole thread down.
It’s a lousy way to handle things, obviously, but it ends up being the only solution, and frankly, nobody wins in that scenario.
On the flip side, imagine if someone shows up just to troll, but the rest of the group stays focused, puts them on ignore, and simply reports the post?
The mod handles the nuisance, the actual discussion keeps flowing among people who actually care, and everyone comes out ahead.

Now, I need to get serious for a moment.🙂 I honestly didn't expect you to be moderating over there. Who knows if you're even a Christian.😁
I have to reiterate how absurd some of these topics and posts are—things that really shouldn't be getting any traction at all.
In addition to the people we already have, what we truly need are two staunch Christians—maybe Hi Fi, Orah, or John Doe—a strong Jew, and one more atheist.
You don't necessarily have to step up, but they certainly could.

Lisa Ortiz2, are you actually aware that you're backing someone who was slapped with a massive 500-point penalty for serious hate speech and making violent threats against the LGBTQ+ community?! For goodness' sake, please get serious.

Nicole James, if I were to say I'd do whatever it takes to protect my child's life, would you classify that as hate speech?

Lisa Ortiz2 said:🙂 I appreciate the effort you put into this, but your point doesn't actually pertain to religion.😁

Look, at the end of the day, we’re looking at a freaking PDF containing formal appeals and complaints here, not some theological treatise or a deep dive into religion. I honestly don't see any reason why anyone would start bringing up religious debates in a thread that's specifically meant for filing grievances and complaints. It just feels completely out of place. 🙄

I was just thinking about how things can get so incredibly sketchy sometimes... like, you know when you're walking through a quiet part of Chicago at night and you see someone lurking just out of sight? That feeling of something being totally off? Well, that’s exactly what I’m getting from this whole situation involving rowdyhawk10. It’s just one of those moments where you can't quite put your finger on it immediately, but your gut is screaming that something isn't right. It feels heavy, almost like that creeping sense of unease you get before a massive thunderstorm rolls over the Midwest. You just know something's brewing under the surface, and honestly, it’s hard to shake the feeling that we're dealing with something pretty questionable here.

ovaj post Right here.

I was just sitting here wondering, what’s the deal with why this hasn't been carded yet? I've been looking into it, and honestly, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the reasoning behind it.
I don't know what to say, man. I've been sitting here staring at the screen for a while now, just trying to wrap my head around everything that's being thrown at us lately. It feels like every time we turn around, there's some new drama or some massive shift happening in the world that leaves you feeling a little lost, you know? It’s like when you’re driving down a highway in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska, and suddenly the GPS glitches out—you're just left there questioning which way is actually north. Anyway, I'm just processing things. And I'll just say right off the bat, rowdyhawk10, I haven't actually been hanging around the forum enough to even know how to click that icon, so I only just realized I could do it now. ☕
It’s not like the mods missed it or anything, because you can clearly see the post was flagged and boxed out.
So, I noticed that the guy got banned, and honestly, it just doesn't sit right with me. It feels a bit off, you know?
If I had actually reached out to him and told him straight up that I’d break his back, he’d be looking at a pile of scrap metal faster than you can blink. Honestly, if he thinks his specific brand of religion has any business meddling with our laws here in America, he’s got another thing coming—he'd be absolutely wrecked.
It feels like we’re living in a time where being a person of faith is becoming a massive target, and honestly, it’s getting harder to ignore the blatant discrimination people face just for holding onto their beliefs. It’s like there’s this growing pressure in America to check your convictions at the door if you want to be taken seriously in public or even just hold down a job without someone looking at you sideways. You see it everywhere—from the workplace to social media—where having a religious foundation is suddenly treated like some kind of outdated flaw or, even worse, a moral failing. It reminds me of how people used to be able to coexist with different viewpoints, but now, if your worldview is rooted in the Holy Bible or any serious religion, you’re immediately put under a microscope. It isn't just about having an opinion; it's about the systemic way folks are sidelined or mocked because they won't bow down to whatever the current cultural trend happens to be. It’s a heavy weight to carry when you feel like you have to hide a fundamental part of who you are just to avoid the backlash or the judgment from people who think they have the moral high ground. We should be able to live in a country that respects everyone's conscience, but right now, it feels like the playing field is anything but level for believers. 🙂

Look, briskorca19, that’s just not how we operate around here. It’s already all laid out right there in your report.I honestly don't get around to following every single thread or jumping into every discussion as often as I’d like, so forgive me if I'm a bit late to the party on some of these topics.

So, basically, if you look at any given post, right there on the left side underneath the user's avatar, you'll notice a little cluster of icons sitting there, and one of them looks exactly like this: So, here’s the deal: you gotta click that little icon right there to report the post, and once that pop-up window from Conda opens up, just go ahead and iterate through the steps. I honestly feel like we're getting into some pretty heated territory here, and frankly, it feels a bit unnecessary to be this contentious about it. It’s like when you’re watching a high-stakes game between the Yankees and the Red Sox and everyone starts shouting over things that don't even matter in the grand scheme of the season—it just clouds the actual point we're trying to make. We should probably take a step back and look at the bigger picture instead of getting bogged down in these petty disagreements that don't really lead us anywhere productive. Look, there’s this one part of the post that just doesn't land. When a post gets way too massive, you can't even bother to label things like "threat" or "insult," let alone actually spell out exactly what the insult or threat was. I try my best to steer clear of making those ungrounded reports on super long posts—it just feels wrong to flag someone without actually laying out the argument first. So, I was just wondering—did you actually go ahead and report that post like that?

and yeah, I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but it totally qualifies as hate speech.
I mean, if you look at his entire body of work, it’s basically just two posts without any hate speech in them—if you stretch the truth a bit.
He’d actually make a pretty decent moderator, wouldn't he?

rowdyhawk10... just being appointed as a moderator isn't enough.🙂 Honestly, we really should have stepped in to prevent this ages ago—it’s reached a point now where it’s incredibly difficult to even begin fixing.👎
Honestly, isn't the current moderator count already more than enough? I mean, seriously—why not just recruit another five or ten people to fill out the ranks... I don't know exactly how many it would take at this point... you might as well just call in the media. At this rate, a news crew could probably handle the whole job by themselves.😍steelskipper5🙂 But honestly, you really have to make an effort to actually read through the threads. 🙂
Look, here’s the reality of the situation—this forum isn't our private property, and we can't just go around appointing whoever we want whenever we feel like it. While I agree that active moderation is absolutely necessary, let's be honest: it isn't always feasible. For instance, when I have a major exam at the university in three days, I’m not going to spend my entire day sitting there scrolling through endless pages of threads—I'll probably just glance over the reports during a quick break and react to what needs attention. Beyond that, the whole idea of an all-seeing, omnipotent moderator is becoming increasingly unrealistic as this community grows. The forum is simply getting too massive for a handful of people to monitor every single detail effectively. What we actually need is a solid foundation of dedicated members—people who truly care about this place—who will work alongside the moderators. Whether it's by filing reports, steering discussions in the right direction, or just ignoring the trolls, we need everyone to cooperate to keep the forum readable and, frankly, a decent place to hang out.

But... what kind of "protecting a child's life" are you actually talking about here? The guy literally wrote that if homosexuals are granted too many rights, he’s going to round up a group and take them out.

It isn't Nicole James. Not at all. It's more like... if we find ourselves being forced to adopt values that go against the very essence of life itself...
....then people will inevitably respond to force with force.🙂

I don't really get why you're getting so worked up about our specific thread. The whole concept started right here in the religion section—most people posting here are already part of the religion community anyway—so we’re just sticking to our own topic. We aren't bothering anyone else or spamming different boards... so, honestly, what's the actual issue?

it sounds more like he's just terrified his child might actually grow up to be tolerant toward gay people😲
and honestly, I haven't exactly seen any news reports about gay folks throwing Molotov cocktails at believers or telling them they're unnatural or destined for hell... so I'm genuinely curious, what kind of violence are you even talking about here?

Honestly, when I hear such nonsensical ramblings, it really starts to trigger some rather perverse ideas in my mind. For instance, I could put together a PDF specifically for those forum users who think this kind of rhetoric is acceptable, gather them all from various PDFs, and assign them a moderator just like 🍿
... it would be absolute carnage, I guarantee you
