I remember watching a documentary about New York City firefighters. They even get called for domestic violence situations because, quite frankly, the police sometimes just don't respond to the calls fast enough.

To watch it or not? That's the million-dollar question right now. 🤣 It feels like the reviews are leaning more toward the positive side. Hopefully, that's a good sign. 🤔

I ended up downloading this movie because I was genuinely curious to see how Americans would handle the remake, and now I’m just kicking myself!!!! I honestly don't get the point of remaking the EXACT SAME film... they didn't change a single thing. Maybe there's one tiny little detail here or there, but it's nothing more than a TINY detail... they seriously managed to screw everything up!!!!!

So, I just finished watching the movie and honestly, I was hooked. I haven't seen REC🙂 yet, though. Now, since I’m a total horror fanatic, I definitely winced at a few scenes, but there’s one thing I can't wrap my head around... that final scene—where exactly was that apartment they were in? And which tenant was actually breeding those rats? I'm totally lost... it feels like someone in the building was intentionally spreading the virus or something? Also, who was that last zombie (was it one of the residents?)—was it that old man they said was paralyzed or what? I really hope I'm not spoiling anything for anyone, but I would love some answers, thanks!😉

So, it turns out the whole virus thing actually kicked off from a dog belonging to this one little girl. Basically, some guy was up in an attic running tests on glassware with all sorts of different chemicals, trying to cook up some kind of drug that would be easy to use for killing people. Then, out of nowhere, the pup eats an infected glass beaker or something, and yeah... that’s how it spreads to the kid, and then you know the rest. Total mess. ☕

I get that, but I'm totally lost on that last monster in the final apartment. We met pretty much everyone in the movie, except for that guy in his underwear. And where did that kid in the attic come from? (you know, when someone smashed the light on the camera?) I loved the movie, honestly, but so many plot holes were just left hanging. Or maybe it's just me because I was absolutely terrified?😁

What the hell, I don't remember any girl being mentioned at all... okay, fine, I admit I was half-asleep when they entered that apartment and while she was digging through those cans and papers, but they didn't exactly lay it out clearly... whatever, thanks for the effort, I guess I'll have to rewatch the end again🙂

It’s like people just sit there and type whatever random nonsense pops into their brains without a single thought for logic or common sense. It's frustrating, man. You try to have a real discussion, a deep dive into something meaningful, and then you get hit with this absolute garbage. It feels like I'm shouting into a void filled with nothing but static. How am I supposed to take anything seriously when the conversation is this shallow? It’s exhausting. Every time I think we might actually get somewhere, someone drops a comment like that and drags us right back down into the mud. I'm done. Just completely done.

Look, this is exactly why you shouldn't bother with those American remakes. Just watch the original (REC) and everything would be perfectly clear. ☕

Well, I just finished watching it, and honestly? It was a letdown.

I’m genuinely struggling to understand what Hollywood was actually trying to achieve with this remake. Was the goal to prove they could handle a different language, or did they simply find the original version too intense and terrifying? I mean, what is the point of remaking a movie that was already fantastic—especially when the original came out just a year prior?

Don't get me wrong, the film isn't terrible on its own merits. If the original didn't exist, this would actually be quite good and pretty innovative! But as it stands? It feels totally pointless and redundant because there's already a much better version of this story out there.

I really, truly hope they don't try to film a remake of the second > installment that's supposed to drop next year.

Does anyone know how I might be able to get my hands on a REC 2? Is anyone currently selling them in your area? Thanks!

It’s a solid remake. I think most cinephiles would find it interesting to watch both versions side-by-side to compare the differences and see what the American producers thought would work better—even if they didn't quite pull it off entirely 😁 .

There are plenty of subtle differences; here are a few of them:

1. Shaky-cam — this is one area where the remake struggles compared to the original. It isn't quite as extreme as in "Cloverfield," but it's still pretty obnoxious.

2. Violence — the remake is definitely more violent. The scenes lifted from the original feel more aggressive, while the "new" sequences are quite bloody, leaving you wondering how they even managed to film them (especially that bit with the rat and the broken leg 😱 ).

3. Lighting — whereas [REC] was filmed in a well-lit building, the lights are mostly turned off in the remake. This makes certain scenes actually scarier, even though it was annoying at first because it was hard to tell who was where.

4. The opening sequence is much longer in "Quarantine." There are more scenes involving Angela messing around with the firefighters, and the crew itself gets significantly more screen time. You can easily account for about 15 minutes just on that segment before they even enter the building.

5. The explanation for the infection — in "Quarantine," there's almost none, which is both a blessing and a curse. On the plus side, it leaves the audience to figure out what or who caused the mess in the building; on the downside, it lacks those religious undertones. For those who saw [REC], it's clear that Vatican City had connections to the outbreak, serving as a subtle critique of religion from the Directors. Here, you catch a split-second glimpse of news articles about a virus stolen from a lab, which might suggest some cultist was experimenting with it. Or something along those lines 🤷

I could go on describing it, but I won't. 🙂 Ultimately, the original is superior, but the remake is still worth a watch. There you go. 😳

Man, I am absolutely loving this movie so far!! I seriously can't wait for it to drop!! There’s just something about those high-tension films that keeps me hooked, which is probably why I’ve gone through basically every single "Resident Evil" title on my PC.
