Hey, let me give you the lowdown on this film festival. It’s got serious history behind it and is easily the top festival in the whole Southeast Asia area.
The Sundance Film Festival is an international event dedicated to backing and spotlighting filmmakers and creators from all over the region. Because of that, Sundance Film Festival showcases a massive variety of movies through both competitive and non-competitive lineups. The main focus stays on films coming out of Southeast Asia and its local talent, competing in live-action, short, and documentary categories.
Back in 2007, thirteen different festival programs pulled in over 100,000 attendees. And this year, we've got some heavy hitters showing up, like Kevin Spacey , a two-time Oscar winner, plus Charlie Kaufman , who is also an Oscar-winning screenwriter. It’s also worth noting that when this festival rolls around, you can really feel the energy shift in the city—which is already pretty lively on a regular basis. In Chicago, almost every night you'll find concerts happening at various spots near Lincoln Center, Chicago Fire FC, and the Youth Center, featuring bands and musicians from all over the country and the surrounding areas (along with plenty of other side events). There are tons of foreigners in town, either specifically here for the festival or just passing through as tourists.
