Jurassic Park

I just tried typing Jurassic Park and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAA into the search bar, and you know what? Absolutely nothing comes up. Seriously, what kind of country am I living in? It feels like I'm constantly being bombarded with all this Tarantino nonsense instead! Look, Jurassic Park is hands down my favorite movie of all time—and I’m sure I’m not alone in that feeling (even if I can't find any like-minded people on this specific forum). The film is a remake of Crichton's work, which won three Oscars, and honestly, the movie itself is pure perfection. The characters, the score—which shows John Williams at his absolute peak—the special effects... I mean, it’s from 1993, yet those effects still absolutely crush most of the CGI we see today. The story, everything! It was so impactful that after watching it, I actually started calling Sam Neill "Dr. Grant." Just a fair warning: please don't start any wars over this movie, or I'll end up sending you 75 private messages filled with various insults! And if anyone is planning to watch it, do yourselves a favor and read the books and the comics first—they are all masterpieces.

Absolute masterpiece. Even the second one isn't half bad, but man, that third installment is a total miss.

Man, it’s been 14 years already. I still remember those massive crowds hitting the theaters when it first dropped—it was absolutely insane. The casting was spot on, too—Ian Malcolm was just perfection!

Honestly, I was sitting there in the theater with my jaw on the floor the whole time.

The first one is a masterpiece.
The second part - pretty good third
The third installment—a total masterpiece of trash cinema.

I have the complete trilogy at home. It looks fantastic, and there's a fourth bonus disc packed with a ton of interesting extras.

Hey, I just recently fell down the rabbit hole after rewatching the first one. Does anyone actually know if or when a fourth installment is coming out? I saw some rumor floating around saying it might drop in 2008(?!)—which sounds totally bogus to me, especially since Spielberg is busy filming Indiana Jones...

So where did you snag that trilogy set with the bonus disc? All I've seen in stores are the single discs or they're sold separately...

A fourth one is expected around 2008, though it won't be directed by Steven Spielberg in the same way the third one was. For Spielberg, the second part felt like the end of the line—the third one was actually helmed by Joe Johnston, and word on the street is he might be stepping back behind the camera for the fourth one too.

Man... if that happens, I'm low-key terrified it’ll turn into total trash. I read some rumor saying Spielberg mentioned wanting some kind of involvement in the fourth installment... maybe? Either way, I'm dying to see it, though I haven't seen anything solid regarding the production schedule yet.🤷

Steven Spielberg is set to produce, and there's been chatter about some sort of outbreak hitting the island—basically a mission to rescue the dinosaurs. There's also talk involving Biosyn—which plays a massive role in the books, whereas in the first movie, you had Dodgson, that guy who assigned Nedry to steal the dinosaur embryos, being part of Biosyn. Anyway, for me personally, only the first one and the second part really count, mostly because they stayed true to the books and were directed by Steven Spielberg. As for a fourth one? I don't really care either way, as long as it isn't a disaster like the third one was—that movie really gave the whole franchise a bad reputation.

I picked mine up about two years ago back when that specific edition was still around. You can't find it in the US anymore.

I can't quite recall which installment it is.

That's the third one. I saw the third part when it first came out—didn't know much about movies back then so I actually liked it! But the first and second are still the best... mostly because of Steven Spielberg.

I remember seeing it back in 2001 when it first came out, but I honestly hated it immediately because of the T-Rex😢 . Fast forward a few years, though—once I actually started getting into movies—and I realized the third one is just plain bad. The first one has everything a perfect remake should have, and while the acting in the second one is a bit weaker, the story remains fantastic—plus, you get way more action and intensity (like that brutal scene where two T-Rexes ambush Eddia, lifting him up by his legs and chest before tearing him apart!). As for the third one? It’s a whole different story. The plot is dull, the characters are incredibly grating—with the exception of Usbesky, who dies far too early—and the Jurassic Park film shouldn't lean so heavily on humor, yet this one tries way too hard. There are only three deaths that actually land, and there is simply way too much CGI. Don't get me wrong, CGI can look great, but if they're going to rely on it that heavily, they might as well make the whole thing in CGI like King Kong! Instead, it looks like someone just drew dinosaurs over a photo; almost every scene feels staged in a studio, giving it this totally artificial vibe.

I’m a massive fan of Jurassic Park; I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve sat through all three films. Everyone knows the consensus is the same: the first one is the absolute best, the second part is okay, and the third is just alright.
Word on the street is that Steven Spielberg might actually step back into the director's chair for the fourth installment following the lukewarm reception of the third one—honestly, I’m crossing my fingers for that.
As for the plot, rumors are swirling that the fourth movie might ditch the island setting entirely and move the action onto the mainland.
We'll see if it actually happens.🙂

It’s been ages since I sat down to watch these, and honestly, this is how they stuck with me. Though, I really should probably give them another spin through a more mature lens to see if my take changes:

Part 1 is a straight-up masterpiece.
Part 2? Total garbage.
Part 3 is actually decent.

I mean, back then I was just a kid, obsessed with stuff like >, >, and whatever else was playing at the theater...
Even though those classics still hold up, I definitely need to revisit the main topic again.

It falls into the "believe it or not" category—I actually went to see the first installment in theaters no more and no less than four different times 🙂
