Every single time I start feeling a bit warm, my face just goes straight to bright red, especially my cheeks! It gets pretty awkward sometimes when I’m at work, so I was wondering if there’s actually any way to tone that down...

I’ve heard whispers about some kind of surgical procedure being an option?

And just to be clear, I’m definitely not talking about anything involving head surgery!

My advice? Stick to layering your clothes—that way you can always peel off a layer whenever things start feeling a bit too stifling. Also, maybe focus a little more on staying hydrated, managing your stress levels, and perhaps getting some light cardio in. As for skincare, I’d suggest opting for something a bit more neutral with a simpler ingredient list—ideally packed with natural components that won't clog up your pores. Personally, those "oil-free" formulas always seem to backfire on me; if your skin handles it well, I’d actually prefer something slightly richer, like a high-quality baby cream.

Take me, for instance—during the winter months, I struggle with cholinergic urticaria (you know, that sudden breakout when I dash into a heated Target while wearing my heavy winter jacket...😢). Because of that, I rarely wear thick sweaters; instead, I prefer wearing several thin layers of shirts.

And honestly, what on earth happened to the smiley faces? (The current ones just aren't nearly as charming. 😢 ))

Sure, but the problem is that these schools and public institutions are used to cranking the heat way up (to like 75 or 80 degrees) whereas at my house, I never turn the thermostat up past 70 or 72!

I’ll probably end up lecturing in short sleeves this January and February 😠

Besides, I haven't put a single drop of face cream on my skin in my entire life!

Goodness, someone’s trying to play the tough guy here, aren't they?😉

It isn't particularly relevant to our current topic—though I suppose it's worth mentioning just in case😉 :

(By the way, who on earth decided to use those smiley faces? They look somewhat... grotesque, don't you think?)

Not really, though I did have a girl ask me yesterday, "How old are you, twenty?" when I'm actually thirty-two...😛 I guess I just lucked out with smooth skin and zero acne issues my whole life—I mean, I really owe it to my ancestors and those genetics they passed down....

this has nothing to do with what we're talking about, but I'll drop this here just in case😉 : http://www.exampleforum.com/showthread.php?t=123044

From what I can tell there isn't any, but I'll try to find it anyway. And for the record, if my face turns red, it’s not because I’m embarrassed, it’s just because I’m hot. It’s honestly one of the most annoying things, having people—especially students—assume I’m feeling awkward or self-conscious just because of a physical reaction...

whoever put those smiley faces in there, they look absolutely grotesque

Why are you getting so worked up about it?😠

Hey guys, does anyone have any tips on how to stop blushing? It’s such a struggle because I always end up turning bright red for absolutely no reason. Like, it’s not even a vein or capillary issue, and I’m not even feeling embarrassed or anything during these moments. I'll just be having a totally normal conversation, feeling fine, but I can tell my face is glowing like a neon sign. It's honestly so annoying.

I honestly think this whole thing is rooted in some deep psychological stuff, even if you don't feel any actual embarrassment or shame in the moment—like you said, it feels like a completely normal situation to you—but maybe it’s just how your body reacts psychosomatically? As far as I can tell, there isn't much you can do to consciously control it, since it seems more like one of those subconscious reactions that just happens without your permission...

I just can't wrap my head around it because it's a massive issue for me, and honestly, probably for some of the people I talk to too. I’m seriously at a loss on how to fix it or even just dial it back! 😢

Look, you could always head down to a CVS or Walgreens and pick up some redness-relief cream, but honestly, those stuff usually just target broken capillaries. They tend to have this weird, pale greenish tint meant to mask the redness visually, but since you mentioned yourself that your issue isn't actually about capillaries, I'm not sure how much good they'll do you. You can certainly give them a shot if you want... I know there's a Roseliane line from Uruguay out there... but it's not going to be a magic fix for what you're dealing with.

Most of the time, that blushing thing is actually rooted in your headspace—like, people who lean toward certain neurodivergent traits tend to deal with it more often. It definitely flares up when things get awkward or stressful, but sometimes it just happens out of nowhere, too... totally unpredictable.
The tricky part is that it could actually be an early sign of rosacea. I’m really not trying to freak you out or anything, just wanted to give you a heads-up so you know what we're looking at.
You can grab some creams at a CVS or Walgreens that are specifically made for this—they basically work by constricting your capillaries—but honestly, they aren't a permanent fix, and don't even get me started on trying to hide it with heavy makeup or foundation... it's just a temporary band-aid.
If I were you, I’d definitely make an appointment with a dermatologist. 👍

So basically, my skin was totally fine during my teens, but lately—over the last couple of years—my face just turns crazy red if I have a drink or even if I just get a bit worked up. It’s mostly like, when I wake up my face is already flushed, and man, if it's hot out or if I've had a little bit to drink, it gets absolutely ridiculous. I guess I'm just wondering what might be causing this and if there's any way to actually fix it

It’s the exact same story over here. Honestly, once I’ve had a drink or someone pushes my buttons just a little too far, I turn bright red—like, full-on tomato status. 😢

I actually sat down with my doctor to talk about it, and she basically told me it's all psychological... like, if I could just learn to chill out more and maybe work on some self-confidence, it might settle down. 🙄

Honestly, I'm feeling the exact same way. I don't even know what to tell you guys—I haven't stumbled onto any kind of fix or solution yet... if anyone actually has some solid advice, please, let me know.

So, like the title says, I’ve got this weird redness popping up right next to my nose. My skin is usually pretty oily, but this specific spot feels totally parched... almost like it's dried out. If I need to go into more detail, just let me know what you need to know. Otherwise, if anyone has any ideas on how to handle this, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.😉

I mean, calling it "dermatitis" is such a vague way to put it—it could honestly be anything from seborrheic issues to perioral stuff, or who knows...
you really ought to go see a dermatologist as soon as you can.

I decided not to start a new thread, even though this is a somewhat similar issue. I thought it best to post my question here instead. Lately, I have been experiencing recurring redness on my face—mostly centered around my nose and the area immediately surrounding it. The redness eventually subsides, but then the skin in those specific spots begins to peel. This cycle repeats itself every few days, over and over again. Does anyone have any insight into what this might be? Could there be a psychological component involved? I have been dealing with some minor stressors lately. I do intend to see a doctor, but between my heavy course load at the university and everything else going on, I am struggling to find the time. Just as a side note, in case it matters, I am male.

Hey everyone.

I’ve got a question and I’d really appreciate some help here

So, look, my skin has been flawless my entire life. Maybe a tiny breakout right before my period, but nothing else, ever.
But then.. about two months ago I picked up this foundation that smelled absolutely revolting, but being who I am.. I just figured that was how it was supposed to smell and bought it anyway.
After using it for a few days on the right side of my face, my skin started turning all red and flaky, even though I'm telling you, I have never had redness or flaking in my entire life!
I actually went out and bought the exact same foundation at a different Sephora, and this second one didn't have that nasty smell 🤷 ..
Maybe the first one was expired or something, but man, it really messed me up.

And now.. the fallout is honestly such a nightmare because half of my right cheek is bright red and it ITCHES like crazy, I feel like I'm gonna claw my whole face off. And on the left side, I've got this little red spot and a bit of redness too.

Just to add to that, when I was out last night at a club, it was hot as hell, and the itching started getting insane, I almost wiped all the makeup off the right side of my face right there.

I mean, seriously, since I've never had skin issues before, I'm totally blindsided and just shocked 😢 ..

Please, tell me what I should be putting on this, or what I should even do, because it's been a week already!! I've been using Nivea cream, which helps cool it down a bit, but what else can I use...?

If anyone else has dealt with this, please hit me up. 😢

I'll post a photo too, maybe someone will recognize what's going on.
This is the right side of my face...

So, I'm 20 now, and back when I was a teenager, my skin was a total disaster—lots of acne, ranging from those massive, painful ones to smaller breakouts... Fast forward to today, and while the big cystic stuff has cleared up, I'm left with this constant redness and these tiny little spots that just look terrible... It’s only really started bothering me lately, though, and honestly, it's killing my confidence and making me feel pretty unattractive... On top of all that, my face gets incredibly oily 😢

If anyone out there actually knows what they're doing and can recommend a specific product... please help. The worst part is seeing that my dad dealt with the exact same thing, and you can still see those little scars on his skin... I really don't want to end up looking like that... so I'm hoping for some advice... 😉

P.S. Mods, if I posted this in the wrong sub, my bad, but please don't just nuked the thread or merge it with something else immediately. Give me at least a day to breathe here, because this is actually getting pretty urgent... 🙂

Maybe try picking up some Avene thermal water at a CVS or Walgreens first. Just misting your face with it before you slap on your moisturizer might help take the edge off that redness.

I guess I could try that... any other advice out there?

I honestly feel like my eye color is the only thing on my face that’s actually the right shade... everywhere else, my skin just looks this awful, angry red. It makes my whole complexion look way darker than it should be and just plain unhealthy
