I believe he was referring to this United 93 while you seem to be thinking of this Flight 93..

This year, aside from a few others, I was totally floored by Inside Man and Children of Men.

Owen for Bond. 👋

So, you think an actor like that just wastes his entire range on sipping martinis and chasing bad guys around? Please—give me a break. ☕

Yeah, he’s definitely better suited as some perverted on-call doctor spending his entire shift hanging out on chat. 😬

Is there an online list somewhere showing everything that hit American theaters back in 2006?

Lol, what’s even the difference? Both movies are full of lies and nonsense—classic American propaganda.
If you actually think those films are good, watch this instead:

Once you've watched this, go ahead and check out the other six parts of this seven-part documentary series.

I haven't seen United 93, so I can't really comment on it..

Now we have some "V for Vendetta" purist crying about propaganda.

Propaganda? Have you even actually watched United 93?

United 93 is actually a solid movie. It’s got this almost documentary feel to it—regardless of how you feel about the subject matter—that really drops you right into that moment, those rooms, that whole vibe. Honestly, it probably has the most intense scene in any film this year. A total pleasant surprise. WTC, on the other hand, is pure garbage... even Jesus would be embarrassed by it.

As for the others, you've got Babel and The Departed, but I'd probably put Match Point at the top of that list.

Alright, let me try to jot down a quick list of everything I’ve watched in theaters this year...

All About the Money
Inside Man
Ice Age: The Meltdown
Mission: Impossible III
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Borat
Snakes on a Plane
Perfume
Da Vinci's Code
Superman
Narnia
Aslan and his singer

...and maybe some other stuff I can't quite recall. Out of that bunch, Snakes on a Plane, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and MI3 were actually good. Plus the first Narnia movie. The rest was just meh.

Hands down, the two best movies I’ve caught in theaters this year are Caché and The Beat That My Heart Skipped.
On the flip side, the flicks I actually had high hopes for turned out to be total duds—specifically Babel and Black Dahlia. Honestly, I don't even care about Babel, but that attempt at an Ellroy adaptation... what a joke.😢

Worst movie of the year, and honestly one of the worst ever made: Color Me Kubrick.🤮
The only redeeming quality of that disaster was finding out that John Malkovich has a stronger grip than your average seventy-year-old grandma.😎

Alright, here’s my personal top five

United 93
Babel
Three Burials in Mexico
The Departed
Children of Men

the rest
Perfume, Pirates, Munich, Brokeback Mountain, Match Point, Hidden, Miami Vice... honestly, I could probably go on forever with this list

there's also a whole pile of Pirates, Superman... stuff like that

Exactly. Even if it’s styled "almost" like a documentary, if the foundation is built on lies, then the entire film is nothing more than propaganda at best.

Oh... So you're saying the hijacking never happened and that plane never even went down?
I'm not quite following what you mean by a lie...

After digging through my memory like crazy:

- Syriana
- Pirates
- Caché
- Le Couperet
- Le Couperet.

I might remember a few more.

As if I actually cared which ones dropped back in 2006... what would it even change?

- Perfume
- V for Vendetta

As for my personal ranking, here’s how I see it:
1. The Departed - A gripping, high-tension masterpiece. The direction is spot on, Jack Nicholson is absolutely brilliant, and those final scenes... they might just be the most impactful sequences of the year, if not more...
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - It definitely diverges from the first installment in many ways, yet somehow manages to retain that specific charm that won us over. And Johnny Depp is, quite frankly, irreplaceable.
3. Perfume - Pure glamour, really...
4. Crash -
5. Casino Royale - It earned its place, partly because I'm a massive Bond fan and have grown attached to the series, but also because this is the version of Bond I've always wanted to see. Realistic, gritty, and relentless. It feels like Campbell should probably specialize in directing Bond films, given that his other projects tend to be flops...

...here’s a little handy guide for anyone who can't for the life of them remember what actually hit the theaters this year 🙂
