Hey everyone

I’m new to the group.

I wanted to pick your brains about air purifiers—
I'm actually in the middle of shopping for one right now.

I've been looking at the Dyson model.

If anyone has used it or knows of something better that won't break the bank, let me know!

I actually have the Dyson Air purifier too, and honestly, I’m pretty stoked with it! It’s not even that pricey when you consider how much of a beast that filter is.

I’ve been hunting for this specific thread for ages; I know I stumbled upon an old version of it once, but now it’s vanished without a trace. If this topic is already considered redundant, feel free to move it elsewhere.

To get to the point, I recently underwent surgery for a deviated septum, and tomorrow is the day they finally remove the packing. However, my nasal mucosa is in a truly miserable state. Between the medicated drops and the bone-dry air, sleep has been non-existent since Monday because breathing through my mouth is impossible—everything dries out within seconds. I am counting down the hours until tomorrow.

I’m looking to pick up a humidifier for my bedroom.

The GE H50DW model.

It looks to be around $45 at local shops.
It sounds like a solid Best Buy option, but I can't find a single decent review online.

On the other hand, I just happened upon this one:
The Spanx New Vapo, which seems to be on sale for slightly less than the GE.$167 They are functionally quite similar, though the GE features an essential oil reservoir, which isn't a dealbreaker for me.

I noticed a fair amount of praise on some international sites, along with this particular video:
, where water leaked out, though apparently only because the unit was tilted. From what I can gather, the water tank on the other model tilts downward in a similar fashion.

Does anyone here own either of these? Specifically, how noisy are they, and which would be the superior choice for roughly $167? Since this is for a bedroom, I assume I'll need a fairly powerful unit.

So, I just picked up this air purifier and I've only been running it for a day, but I have to say, I’m pretty stoked with it so far. Mainly because I use it in the room where we smoke, and the speed at which it clears out that cigarette smoke is honestly impressive... It gets the job done fast. My only hang-up is this weird smell coming from the purified air itself—it has this sort of bitter, sharp scent to it. I'm not really sure if that's supposed to happen, but the air in the room feels a bit harsh, not exactly "fresh" or pleasant, you know? Anyway, if anyone else here is using an air purifier or an ionizer, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Maybe give me some pointers on which settings work best or when I should be switching things up...👍
