Honestly, comparing *Texas Chainsaw Massacre* to this flick is like comparing a fairy tale to a nightmare; *Wrong Turn* used to sit pretty high in my personal top ten list for quite some time, though I suppose better cinematic offerings have eventually crowded it out of those upper echelons over the years, yet I remain deeply grateful to that particular movie because it was the one that truly taught me the hard way who Eliza Dushku is.

First off, Wrong Turn is typically a garbage movie, and second, it’s total trash that only works because it scavenged ideas from actual cult classics. 🙂

I fail to grasp why anyone would attempt to draw parallels between what came before Wrong Turn and the film itself—bringing up things like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is entirely beside the point. To my mind, the only metric that truly matters is whether the experience was engaging, and frankly, I found the former to be such a tedious slog that I consider it perhaps the single most egregious waste of $3.25 I have ever endured in my entire life.

If I cut it down to about 80 pages, swapped out the leads for a Black protagonist and a gay character, and threw in some subtle commentary condemning radical Islamist terrorism, I bet it would be a massive hit here in the States. They’d probably turn it into a movie too...🙂
